I have a budgie named Dany that's about 1.5 years old. She's not really the cuddly type, but I'm not really a touchy-feely person either, so I think we're actually pretty well matched. ^That's her with her baby feathers on the left and a more recent shot of her on the right. I also have a small fish tank with some platys.

Saw "Tigers Are Not Afraid" tonight as part of the Toronto After Dark Film Festival. God, those were some adorable kids. I can see the "Pan's Labyrinth" comparisons for sure, but there was a distinctive grim and gritty vibe throughout the whole thing that was a refreshing contrast to a lot of similar fantasy films. Really liked the slightly ambiguous way the "magic" was presented as well. And that ending...

"Animal World", which was a weird Chinese take on "Kaiji", with Michael Douglas as the villain for some reason. Most of the actual rock, paper, scissors game was pretty similar to the Japanese "Kaiji" movie, but it was changed in a few subtle ways that made it a bit unpredictable and refreshing to watch. However, the movie was also peppered with these weird scenes of the main character imagining himself as a clown warrior smiting his enemies and his opponents morphing into animals, plus a bunch of annoying and completely unnecessary special effects. Plus the movie only really covered the rock, paper, scissors game and it just sort of abruptly ended afterwards. The game part is pretty tense, the romantic bits are kind of cute, and it's kind of interesting seeing people from all over the world taking part in the game instead of just Japanese players, but the Japanese "Kaiji" just covers so much more without all the obnoxious extra visual effects and constant slow-mo shots. Plus he looks terrifying as a clown, and I hate clowns, so there's that. ^The scammer guy on the ship is so much dreamier than the one in the Japanese version though. God, it was worth watching the movie for that burgundy suit and scarf combo alone.

It just occurred to me that because AA='s releases are on iTunes, they're probably on Spotify as well. I'd bought most of the tracks from 4 on iTunes and I actually ended up buying the #4 live DVD as well since it was weirdly cheap on CDJapan, but I never got around to listening to either half of the #4 album in full. Pretty excited to catch up on #, 4 and #5 today.

^The preview in that video isn't of the title song, it's the coupling track, and I guess they might have actually been going for kind of an anime song vibe because it's going to be featured in one of the "MESSIAH" movies.

I'd heard that the voice acting for the main character from Black Clover was annoying, but Jesus, he sounds like an angry parrot. I went in expecting it to be bad, but there's no preparing for how over the top it is.

I've been wanting to replay South Park: The Stick of Truth recently, and it went on sale on Steam, so I bought it. It's still great.

I googled it out of curiosity, and I saw a bunch of results saying he's 158 cm tall. I don't know if he confirmed that himself, but it sounds about right.

Another one already? The song doesn't sound as promising as the last single, judging from that preview, but I like the whole "costume designer's workshop after a clearance fabric sale" aesthetic they've got going on, and it's cool to see how fast they're moving. That tour schedule looks really ambitious too! Still no Shiori though. I think they probably have more videos without him than with at this point. ETA: It looks like Lyubi changed his stage name to 有栖川 塁 (Arisugawa Rui), which is great because the name change to Lyubi never really registered in my head. Kind of cringing at the fact that he chose that name so he could write it as "Rui Alicegawa" though.

The joke is that the whole song is about VAP (which anyone watching it for the first time would think they were still signed to), but at the end they announce that they signed with Warner Music Japan and they'll release their first single with them in November.

^I'm assuming that they're half joking about that, but that they also just don't want people to post screenshots and stuff yet because it will ruin the joke at the end if people see the Warner symbol before they watch.

I'm glad to see there is more out there than just "reaction" videos, at least. That's all that ever comes up in my recommendations, and I avoid those like the plague.

^To be fair, they didn't say it's because she's pregnant again yet, people are just assuming. Dude, she has what, two kids? Three kids would more slightly more than average, but it's really not that many. She also mentioned when they went on hiatus the second time that the reason she wanted a second child so badly was because she enjoyed growing up with a sibling so much and she wanted her child to have the same experience.

Started 20th Century Boys yesterday since my library has like 20 volumes of it, and I've been reading Kakegurui online.

^I'd love to see them, personally. In an odd coincidence, my friends and I were seriously considering going to DC just for a little trip earlier this year (although we were thinking summer), since it's a fairly cheap bus ride down, but I think this is too short notice and too late in the year for it to happen. It's too bad, because it almost lined up perfectly.

^The clown was well done for sure. Just felt a little too grim and pointless to me in the second half. I'm generally more partial to goofy horror movies though, so maybe that's my own bias coming out. Watched A Cure for Wellness yesterday, which was solid at the beginning but lost me in the second half as well. Beautiful setting, but I thought it was going to be about the modern businessman, and it turned into a bunch of silly Crimson Peak-esque nonsense.

Terrifier (2017). The first part of it was actually pretty fun, but it just started to feel really grim and unpleasant towards the middle for me. The first two girls it introduced at least had a few stereotypical personality traits and cute Halloween costumes, but the sister had literally no characteristics at all. I can't remember a single thing about her besides that one phone call scene at the beginning. The ending felt pretty anticlimactic as well.

^I don't think it sounds like that much if his flight and accommodation were taken out of that amount.
