Very cool. Banging indeed! And yeah, I can't believe Ice T is 62 either. Such a cool guy, albeit a low tier bad (but funny) actor.

Damn, this was awesome. The concept in itself is pretty cool, but the track turned out really fucking well too. Catchy as hell!

The VelociPastor - Based on the poster I expected some cheap SyFy or The Asylum flick and I was close to skipping it, but I'm glad I decided to watch it because this was one wild 80's grindhouse worship. It's closer to movies like Manborg, Commando Ninja and Kung Fury than anything cheap SyFy or The Asylum related. A fucking VelociPastor, drug dealing ninjas and more. Awesome movie!

MacGruber - This movie is spun off from SNL and is spoofing all kinds of movies, most notably MacGyver, tons of James Bond movies, Die Hard and so on. It's easy to understand why it's gained cult status. Silly and over the top, and always funny as hell. Excellent!

Uncut Gems - Benny Safdie and Josh Safdie continue to create thrillers and cast against type. A few years ago it was Robert Patterson in Good Time, this time around it's Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems. And Adam Sandler is KILLING it! Easily his best performance ever, and a performance that proves that he belongs amongst the big names in Hollywood. Just a mindblowing performance, and the performance alone is well worth your time. Add that to the mix of a thrilling drama-thriller that'll stress you the fuck out and keep you on the edge of your seat, and there's no way you'll be disappointed. Superb!

    Happy you liked it, mate.

Should we start with the good or bad news? Good? Ok:

New Vader track from an upcoming album planned for release in May. Sounds really good, Best track in ages? Like... Litany? That's fucking 20 years.

Saw them live a few months ago too. Was really fucking good!

    And the bad news:

That fucking sucks! Seems like them kicking Vis Crom out of the band after she came out as a trans woman might have something to do with it.

I thought the last two Absu albums were disappointing, but I've really been waiting hard for their next albums anyways. They were always really unique, and you knew they'd offer something very fresh and original. But everything up until and including Speed n' Spikes Vol. II from 2008 were top notch. This sucks!

This shit, man. One of the best fucking black thrash metal songs ever. Well, the entire album is an absolute beast of an album. Still super unique to this day, 23 years after it was still released.

Yeah, it's pretty cool, but still pretty far from their greatest achievement which is Complete and Total Fucking Midnight. It isn't anywhere near Satanic Royalty either. But it's a fun record for sure. Right now I feel like bands like Hellripper, Viölence, Bewitcher, Exorcisme, Hell Poison, Reaper, Diabolic Night, Nuctemeron, Demon Bell and more are making better black speed metal albums, although someone like Hellripper, Exorcisme, Diabolic Night, Nuctemeron, Hell Poison and more are way more furious and speedy, with and less rock 'n' roll than Midnight.

This is way more rock 'n' roll and probably a bit more similar to Midnight, and I feel like they are doing Midnight better than Midnight right now. Really catchy stuff.

And since I am already here:

Spectral Lore / Mare Cognitum - Wanderers: Astrology of the Nine

Split release between cosmic black metallers Spectral Lore and Mare Cognitum, who released a split back in 2013 called Sol. Sol was 3 tracks and 69 minutes long, with both bands having one song each as well as a collaboration between them. This new split however consists of 10 songs and is no less than 2 hours long. Both bands having 4 songs each and two collaboration tracks. Really looking forward to this.

    Reaper - Unholy Nordic Noise

These guys released a brilliant black/speed demo last year, and is already back with their debut album. Really looking forward to this. Should be good.
Can't find anything off their new album, but here's the demo:
    https://ironboneheadproductions.bandcamp.com/album/reaper-ravenous-storm-of-piss

Hell Poison - Burn With Me

This album is from last year, but seems to have gone under the radar for most people. Raw, wild black speed metal in the vein of Bathory, Hellripper, Hin Håle, old Sodom, Diabolic Night, Nuctemeron, Nocturnal and more. Superb album!

Oath of Cruelty - Summary Execution at Dawn

Deathrash album from last year. Mean and brutal death thrash. Morbid Angel's Altars of Madness meets Morbid Saint's Spectrum of Death. Great album.

Yeah, but he's done a very good job tho. Superb release imo.

Something quite different, but speaking of Japanese synth got me thinking of this. Was Mirai (Sigh) and Killjoy's (Necrophagia) synth band from back in the days. Not dungeon synth, but their own horror synth tribute to Goblin, Fabio Frizzi, and John Carpenter.

The Mandalorian - Well, this surely caught me by surprise. Disney have gotten quite a lot of shit for picking up Star Wars and "ruined the franchise", as if it wasn't already fucked up by the man himself George Lucas 20 years ago with his shitty prequel (as well as the "remastered" versions of the originals which is nowhere as good as the actual original movies). So yeah, don't blame Disney if you think this franchise has gone to shit. Blame George Lucas. I personally liked The Force Awakens a lot, Rogue One even more, and I found pleasure in both Solo: A Star Wars Story and The Last Jedi even tho both where flawed. But that's not entirely Disney's fault. They're at fault for choosing the wrong people to work on the franchise, but they have also done a lot right so far.

And guess what, The Mandalorian might be their best work so far. It's at least on par with Rogue One. The Mandalorian sees creator Jon Favreau continue a lot of what George Lucas started in the 70's, namely steal/pay homage/whatever you want to call it from Japanese movies. This time they've taken from the cult classic, super violent exploitation chambara series Lone Wolf & Cub, which I am more than fine with as it's one of my favourite film franchises ever. It's got that same premise of a man with a child roaming around and being hired for different duties to earn a paying. They have, like in the original trilogy, not even tried to hide it, and I fucking love it. Like, it's so clear and obvious. Fantastic!

While Solo: A Star Wars story had a major space western feeling, this taken it even further. This almost cuts out the space feeling and rely more on a Sergio Leone-esque western feeling, than a space opera, even with a soundtrack very, very, very similar to those of Ennio Morricone.

I thought this was amazing. Can't fucking wait for a new season! Go Disney, GO!!!

Most metal and rock fans despise pop? I am sorry, but where exactly do this retarded generalization come from? I have, throughout 15+ years og going to metal concerts, going to (mainly) metal bars and hanging with metal people, and discussing metal online on a shitload of metal foras, only talked to a couple of handful of metal fans who did not love pop. The vast majority absolutely adores pop, especially cheesy 80's pop and 90's eurodance. I have been to a countless amount of "metal vorspiels/nachspiels", plenty of them with highly regarded (mostly extreme) metal musicians, and the most played genre at, by far, pop.

It's absolutely fucking shocking that people throw around statements like that in 2019. Being so bigoted in 2019? The fuck is this shit?

Leprechaun - Super underrated and super fun horror comedy that balances horror with comedy in a really good and fun way. Warwick Davis is excellent as the titular character, and a young Jeffnifer Anniston is super as well. Fantastic film!

Leprechaun 2 - The second movie goes more into the lore of it all, as well as leaning a bit more towards comedy. But it''s great fun. A small step down, and not as well-acted as the first, with the exception of Warwick Davis which is phenomenal, but other than that very good. Fun stuff! Super underrated.

Leprechaun 3 - Even sillier than the second one, but still great fun. Warwick is, once more, phenomenal as the titular creature. Well worth your time if you want something good and silly.

Looking forward to the rest of the series. In Space, in that Hood I & II and the most recent reboots Leprechaun: Origins and more than anything Leprechaun Returns, directed by none other than  Astron-6's Steven Kostanski (The Void, BioCop, Manborg), Should be a blast!

It's not awful, but it's kinda boring tbh.

Compiled Fragments 1997–2003 is also a must if you're a fan of screamo. Collects tracks off splits and a few other tracks. Only thing bad about the release it's that because it's Envy, you'll miss out of Yaphet Kotto's three amazing tracks of the split with Envy and This Machine Kills. Which is a totally killer split with three great bands. Yaphet Kotto completely stole the show on the split tho.

You won't go wrong with anything up until 2007. Everything's great. The further back in their discography you go, the less post-rock and more screamo you'll get.

I always end up recommending From Here to Eternity, All the Footprints You've Ever Left and the Fear Expecting Ahead and Insomniac Doze as they're my three favourite Envy albums. Three pretty different albums that they showcases their early, more screamo oriented sound (From Here to Eternity), the transition album where they started incorporating more post-rock (All the Footprints...) and the album where they leaned more towards beautiful, atmospheric post-rock and soundscapes, but without completely leaving the screamo behind (Insomniac Doze).

So it all comes down to if you want screamo Envy, post-rock Envy or a little of both. I prefer the first, but that's just me.

Baron Blood of the Greek titans Necromantia passed away today due to a heart attack. What a shame! He played the 8 string bass in Necromantia. Everyone has to check out Necromantia too. Their two first albums are incredibly unique, despite sounding very Greek. Amazing stuff!

Managed to catch a rare screening of The Lighthouse. Amazing atmosphere, visuals and acting all around.  I couldn't have hoped for a better 2nd movie from Robert Eggers, great job! Completely sucked me in, and after the movie was over it was a really weird feeling to leave the theater and go back to the 'real world', haha. Also, in a perfect world Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson would get nominated for (and win) an Oscar for what they did here.

The Boneyard: A (somewhat) obscure '90s film. I've seen it being labeled as a zombie film in some places but that's not quite what it is. If anything, I'd compare it more to something along the line of Demon Wind or Evil Dead although that's not entirely accurate either.. It falls somewhere in between the two. Regardless of that, this one's definitely entertaining! Somewhat low on the gore, but features some very cool effects (mostly in the form of some very nice (and amusing) monster suits) that more than make up for that. The film has that kinda gritty and grainy visual quality to it that I love - it's somehow always maximum comfy to me. What's interesting as well is that this one kinda subverts the commonplace horror stereotype of having the beautiful young pure girl as the protagonist. Instead, the protagonist is a burnt out, overweight, and middle-aged psychic woman. It's something you don't see every day, so props to the director for daring to switch things up. The only gripe I have is that the movie kinda suffers from severe mood whiplash at certain points, but overall I'd say this one's definitely worth watching

Is it dungeon synth Mortiis or industrial rock Mortiis?

If it's dungeon synth Mortiis it's highly recommended if you like gigs without much happening. He's for most part standing still, barely looking up from the laptop and his synth, but well worth it imo. I had a blast seeing him a couple of years ago. Was superb and I'd wish for. 9/10

But again, I love ambient and ritualistic gigs  where not much happens in general. It's not for everyone, but if into that stuff it's fantastic.

This sounds superb, so I really can't wait for this. Really don't mind Mortiis going back to dungeon synth after its recent popularity, even though it can be seen as him just jumping on a trend. But I am very much fine with that.

Been spinning Alcest's Spiritual Instinct a lot since it dropped, and this album is just magnificent. It could easily have been released on a double album side by side with Kodama. Kodama is the lighter, more uplifting album while Spiritual Instinct is more of the same, but a lot darker. 9/10!
