    Finntroll - Vredesvävd

New Finntroll album, and their first in seven years. I still prefer their two first albums, but I go back to the rest of their discography every now and then, so this should be fun.

@Bear Fair enough, I guess they weren't just memorable enough for me...  (tho granted, I'm rarely in the mood to listen to these bands to begin with... I usually stick to Western thrash stuff, I feel more of a connection to those groups)

Waitwat. You think Rosenfeld is generic? Name one album that sounds anything like Pigs of the Empire, brah. The album is like a mix of Morbid Saint, Hobbs Angel of Death, Infernäl Mäjesty, which is pretty neat as they were all incredibly unique, but with a whole different flavor to it as well which just makes the album sounds even more unique and different. If you don't count the progressive and technical thrash metal bands of the time this is easily one of the least generic thrash metal albums of the 80's and 90's.

Okay, I take back what I said, this new BMSS album fucks hard. I'm vibing with the synthy goodness so much on track 2 & 3 and the vocoder in that one later epic song.

edit: Just listening to the "Circles within Circles" album by Assassination, great stuff! Really catchy too.  I tried again with Edelweiss but something about the sound feels kinda weak/meh to me... even tho I kinda wanna like them cuz they sampled some old Hungarian cartoon at the beginning of one of their songs, lol.

edit2: These Assassination guys are absolute mad lads, already released a new song a couple days ago from an upcoming new release.

I actually recommended both Assassionation and Edelweiss earlier on this side. Both well worth digging into.

I'd also recommend playing the new BMSS a lot. It's a grower for sure. Earlier releases might have bigger hits and better single songs, but as an album from A to Z I'd probably say this is their best and most consistent album. But all their releases are obviously close to perfect. Phenomenal band!

I'm in a thrash metal/crossover/punk/hip hop group with a friend. We just do whatever we feel like no matter the genre.

In a hip hop group with said friend.

I produce hip hop beats for myself, said friend, and others who wants them.

I got an electronic project going on. Hilarious shit where I make everything from electro pop to chiptunes to weird danseband/polka/inspired electronica. It's closely tied to said friend's electronic project. We also have a web series connected to this. LMFAO

I also have a project going where I make music inspired by danseband and polka. Closely tied to said friend's project of same style. It's hilarious.

All for fun. Don't expect to get any fans, make any money or anything. We're just having loads and loads of fun with these things, drinking, recording, creating and imagining every now and then. It's all for fun, and we're both loving it.

"Death Row" does sample Eazy-E's "Boyz-n-the-Hood", and that's a proper classic. I'd also check out Mulatto's "Bitch From Da Souf". It's less "classy", but the beat also takes a few notes from Eazy-E's classic and it's catchy as hell.

But I think modern rappers like Maxo Kream, Big K.R.I.T., Schoolboy Q, ASAP Ferg, IDK, Flatbush Zombies, Killer Mike/EL-P/Run the Jewels etc. might be of interest. They have a much more mature approach to hip hop than a lot todays hip hoppers, similar to Freddie Gibbs. Not saying they sound similar tho.

This track's just too good. Tech Nine's hook is beyond fantastic, and his verse is superb too. He just popped off on this track.

    Unrelated to the stuff above:

People are seriously sleeping on Ramirez. This is the hip hop track of the year, and the entire albums is just pure gold. My only complain is that it looses that summery vibe towards the end of the album with Tales From the Guttah and Red Dot. Both songs are phenomenal, just a lot darker. But the rest of the album? Holy damn! Superb, and the productions are familiar as hell, but still super fresh. Hip hop album of the year so far. Would also recommend a lot of his stuff, but this is his best album so far. I would go as far as to put it above his collabs with Suicideboys.

Finished Tiger King and it was amazing. Best True Crime series so far. The people involved in all of this? Holy fuck! How can they all be real? Not only Joe Exotic, but Carole, Jeff,  Doc Antle, Tim, Allen and more. How the hell are these real life human beings? Fuckin' hell, this shit is crazy. Amazing docu-series.

Watching Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness and this is quite something. There's been a lot of fantastic true crime over the past years, but this shit takes the cake. It's hard to believe a story like this, but at the same time it's so wild and absurd that it's impossible to believe it's fiction. No man can write anything like this. That shit is impossible. Amazing stuff.

    Watched some documentaries, hell yeahh~

Fix: The Ministry Movie - Chronicles mostly the '96 tour of Ministry with some major drug abuse going on. I always thought of Al as kind of a funny lunatic (especially after reading his book) but here he was mostly obnoxious, pitiful and irritating. The doc itself was mostly okay but I had to struggle to get through some parts so all in all it didn't win me over completely.

Queercore: How to Punk a Revolution - A really interesting look into the so-called "queercore" punk movement that was basically just a handful of people in the beginning who managed to will the scene into existence by pretending it was a nation(or even world)wide phenomenon. Absolutely cool stuff, very nice talking-head segments (such as Bruce LaBruce, John Waters, Genesis P-Orridge, Kathleen Hanna etc.) and live footage both from queer and feminist punk bands.

Trixie Mattel: Moving Parts - Nice introspective look into a short period of drag queen Trixie's life on the road as a country/pop musician. His whole demeanor and attitude is just so funny and down-to-earth it's very easy to relate to him, even if obviously his way of life is totally different from mine, lol. Out of these three docs I watched this one flew by the quickest, it was very entertaining and cozy to watch (but I really like him and his drag persona to begin with so maybe that's why).

The black psychedelic rocket in Black Magick SS is back, cleaner, more polished and softer than ever before, but still with incredibly catchy and awesome. This time around they sound a bit more early 80's than 60's, but that makes it fresh. This is still 100% Black Magick SS, and it's totally awesome. Top 10 contender for 2020 for sure.

That is shocking, mate. Easily one of the best series ever made, and it really does capture the feeling of the original movies (especially Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness). First season is fun, but feels a bit off. But it's basically just there to put the characters in place and to bring good old Ash back. From season two onward it's just horror-comedy perfection. And the special effects gets way, way better as the series progress as they use more and more practical effects from season 2.
    Season 1 - 8/10
    Season 2 - 10/10
    Season 3 - 10/10

This series is must watch for fans of Evil Dead, Bruce Campbell and horror-comedies.

Todd and the Book of Pure Evil - This is basically Deathgasm meets Ash vs Evil Dead meets Superbad meets Cheech and Chong meets Buffy. That's a fair comparison IMO. This is easily one of the funniest TV-shows I've ever seen. Absurd and over the top, crude, kinda childish, loads and loads of creativity and plenty awesome special effects. It's just really fucking awesome, and exactly what a "mainstream" horror-comedy should look like. Amazing!

Shame about the cancellation, and although it did get a finish with an animated movie it still sucks. I'm gonna watch the animated movie of course, but I'd rather have a live-action movie tbh. Lovely characters and actors.

I'm a coffee drinker. I just regular, cheap pre-ground coffee for mornings before I go to work or something. Then I use way more expensive and better beans which I ground myself when I've got the time to properly enjoy a good brew.

I drink way too much coffee tho. On days such as these, when I am home all day, I drink up to 2,5l of strong coffee a day. On a regular day when I'm at work I usually drink a 2-4 cups of coffee between 8-10am, then 2-4 cups between 10-12am and then between 1-5 cups between 12-3pm. Depends on how much I got to do at work. Then I go home and between coming home and going to bed I drink around 7,5dl. Healthy? Nah, but that's life. There's days where I don't drink coffee too and it's not a problem at all, but I prefer coffee for the same reason I drink beer. It just tastes fantastic.

To my ear it depends on the music. Some music fits with so-called "bad"/lo-fi productions, some does not. Some bands fit the "good"/hi-fi productions, others does not. It's all about what fits the music and brings forth whatever elements needs to be brought forth (or hides, doesn't matter as long as it helps the music in a positive way), which to me means that both lo-fi and hi-fi productions can be great productions. Which means that I love plenty of VKs lo-fi productions, as well as disliking plenty of them.
