Bear got a reaction from CAT5 in [Band Battle] Dir en grey vs. DIR EN GREY
Dir en grey, easily. Not a single bad album/EP released during that time. The band released their best album and songs as DIR ER GREY, but one of the albums among the worst ever, one is just übershit and one is mediocre. So this was a easy choice for me.

Manborg - One of the first films by the Canadian Astron-6 team, a team that focus on making cheap, cheesy 80's inspired filmmuch in the vein as Troma. Manborg is one big cheeseball of a film. A total cheese-o-rama from begining to end. This isn't good filmmaking in any way, but it's cool, pasionate filmmaking and a huge tribute to so-bad-it's-good films from the 70's and 80's. OK, the CGI is poor here, and I'd rather see it without CGI, but it is what it is. Everything else is great. Pure fun!

The best parts of the film is the stop-motion animation. There's not much of it, but whenever there is it just melts my heart in an instant. It's beautiful, even though it's not Ray Harryhausen quality over it. Far from it. But stop-motion animation is for most part beautiful no matter how sloppy it is. I loe it!

A lot better than Astron-6's Father's Day which was too long and was too much of a rollercoaster ride. But this one was great, and I have ever bigger expectations to The Editor which has finally leaked. I expect this to be an instant classic. A giallo-comedy? Oh dear! Will watch it during my annual october fest.

A few more I came to think of. Doesn't fit the whole oriental theme, though. These are all Mexican bands with aztec pagan vibe to them. Most are pretty poorly produced and raw as well, so unless you don't mind that type of production these might be interesting to you:

    Kukulcan
    Tezcatlipoca
    Tlillan Calmecac

Tlillan Calmecac are my favourite, but I like all all three. When they did something they did nothing less than 100%.

Tengger Cavalry is pretty nice too. They're at their best when they use throat-singing. There's not nearly enough throat-singing in metal. The band's a bit banal, though. I'll admit that.

Check out Magane as well. Black metal band, but I'd say they have this traditional Japanese folk-thing going on at times.

If you feel adventurous you may want to check out Quest for Blood. The flute tend to annoy the shit out of people though. It's a bit too much at times, but it's alright:

And Rudra, which often gets called "verdic metal". Black/death/thrash metal with some elements of carnatic music:

Bear got a reaction from Ito in MH FEATURED POLL #28: Do you watch anime and/or read manga?
I used to read quite a lot manga and watch even more anime, but I'm not as into it as before. Haven't read a manga in forever, but I still watch anime every now and then. Biggest change from before however is that I rarely watch anime's that got 50+ episodes anymore. If watching series I watch series with 50 eisodes or less, and which is already finished so I can binge them. Plus I watch more anime aimed towards older teens and adults, rather than your regular teen animes which I did before.

Would read more manga if it wasn't so god damn expensive though, and I am not willing to read it on my computer. Goes for comics in general.

^ I know of these pretty rad bands:

Melechesh - epic death metal with Middle-Eastern influences
Cult of Fire - black metal with a mystical Hindu vibe going on (since about 2013 at least)
Nile - you prolly know of this band already, pretty solid death metal with Egyptian and Middle-Eastern motifs
Enemite - this isn't metal but dark as fuq creepy Chinese tribal chanting sp00ks

Yesterday was another amazing night of killer synth mayhem, courtesy of Lazerpunk and Carpenter Brut.

Lazerpunk basically did a short version of the same-ish set he did before Perturbator, what a fun show to watch! The guy gets really into it, and it was cool to see him rockin' the mic again in a song with (hellishly distorted evil robotic) vocals. There was some annoying technical malfunction mid-set, so I'm guessing he had to shorten it even more, but it was a nice quick warm-up nevertheless.

Carpenter Brut was m-a-s-s-i-v-e!! The live drums really bring out the beast in all the songs. Dude was pounding away like no tomorrow, expert precision and some fun fills/variations too. I couldn't hear much of the guitars most of the time (except at more 'airy' parts) but they didn't seem to add anything substantial to the songs, but it was a nice touch I guess. Also, gotta give major props to the master himself at the synth, he really worked his ass off. Keyboards, effects, random knobs and tweaks and such, laptoppin', electronic percussion, you name it. Can't recall the setlist by song titles but it was a good hour long kinda. All excellent bangin' songs, lots of dancing and jumping around. A+ gig.

Here are some cool photos one of my pals did: http://infinitebeat.hu/carpenter-brut-f-lazerpunk-quixotic-a38-2015-09-12/

Pretty cool, tho I've only listened to it twice so far. It sounds a bit more 'together' and mature than the Beastmilk stuff... a bit more dramatic maybe? More emphasis on mood rather than danceable post-punk tunes. I quite like it!

But again, do check out classic giallos. Giallos are a must!

I see, I'll do my best to stay away from that old films them. But here's a list of regular slashers and giallos that should please you (all films are the original ones unless stated different):

    Friday the 13th
    Prom Night
    April Fool's Day
    My Bloody Valentine
    The Prowler
    Sleepaway Camp
    House on Sorority Row
    Blood and Black Lace
    Bird with the Crystal Plumage
    Deep Red
    Tenebre
The Girl Who Knew Too Much
The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh
    Opera
    New York Ripper
    Alice Sweet Alice
    Black Christmas

A couple of older films on the list here, but if you like whodunits them these are a must. The entire list is a must for fans of horror in general, but I've bolded out my personal favourites of the lot. The best of the best. Blood and Black Lace and The Girl Who Knew Too Much ae both from the 60's, but these are awesome. Highly stylized, sexy and grim giallo mystery masterpieces that is as great as they look. These are the whodunit slashers of the 60's.

I support Jigsaw's recommendations. That's the first three films that popped into my mind when reading your post as well. And David Lynch of course. I think there's something a bit David Lynch-esuqe about Jackob's Ladder.

Do you mind old films? The 50's and 60's were great for whodunit horrors/thrillers.
