死者列車 (Shisha ressha) originally by 無限マイナス (Mugen Minus), 2006 Covered by ムニムニ (Munimuni), 2007 Confession: I heard Munimuni's cover version first, and while I dig the original too, I just love the cover infinitely better. Maybe because the dreary goth shoegaze-y sound is closer to my usual style than Mugen's folk stuff. This is probably one of my most favorite Japanese covers of all time, now that I think about it.

Gonna be there, my man!

It can be quite intimidating, yeah. If this helps, here's a little breakdown of their post-2000 albums so you can get a general feel: - ONE LIFE, ONE DEATH (2000): dads discover science fiction - 極東 I LOVE YOU (2002): dads discover science fiction but with layers* - MONA LISA OVERDRIVE (2003): dads discover cyberpunk* - 十三階は月光 (2005): dads dress up for Halloween and drink a bit too much but it goes much better than expected - 天使のリボルバー (2007): dads being dads - memento mori (2009): dads being dads but more rad, how do you do, fellow kids? - RAZZLE DAZZLE (2010): dads stumble into a disco, drink a bit too much but this time it does not go well - 夢見る宇宙 (2012): dads being dads who took their medication - 或いはアナーキー (2014): dads could not find their medication... hilarious results! - アトム未来派 No. 9 (2016): I could not find the dads but this background music is kinda okay - No. 0 (2018): dads have become cyborgs, I have become a dad while listening, feels weird man * originally these two albums were imagined by the band as one concept double-album My personal recommendations would be MONA LISA OVERDRIVE, 十三階は月光 and 或いはアナーキー btw.

I don't have Spoti' so I could only listen to a 30 second clip, but sounds cool! I almost kinda made a joke how they must be referencing the Suicide track, but it turns out it's actually a Suicide cover? Nice, haha.

^ I just watched this with a friend, expecting it to be a zombie movie, or at least some kind of horror-comedy hybrid...... but we found that it was just a regular goofy comedy (with the topic of horror/zombie movies ofc). Still, I thought it was hilarious and very well-done. Great stuff!

May I recommend the opposite, which he is quite good at as well.

The masterpiece we've all been waiting for: Choo choo betch! Well... I can't say I wasn't entertained, haha.

Just realized "Oni to kage" was released 6 years ago (actually almost to the day, it was 13th Feb) and got all nostalgic. I love these guys so much still. ;w; I remember all the excitement while waiting for the CD to come in the mail and then getting to rock out to it while browsing the booklet. Granted, it's kinda just a glorified GAUZE tribute album, but that could never turn me off of it, haha. 解離性同一性障害 is one of my eternal jams.

I hope this new pic means they're gonna update their ancient website with some information newer than summer 2018.

Awesome! Looking forward to it as always.

^ They did crown two winners, but I'm guessing most ppl agree that Trinity was the more 'deserving' one (I love Monet and her personality and performance is really cool but she's severely lacking in the runway department imo). Anyway, I just realized that S11 is literally right around the corner (in less than 2 weeks), S12 is already casting, supposedly AS5 hopefuls have begun preparing behind the scenes, and then there's the Drag Race UK show that starts later this year too, plus we still have Drag Race Thailand S2 underway... Kinda hard to stay excited imo. I'm finding myself more engaged lately with DR Thailand btw. Kinda curious for the UK series too, but the 'main one'? ...not really anymore. 😕

Ridiculously lame finale. Only entertaining part was poor Monique not knowing how to do cartwheels, lmao. Drag Race over-saturation is hella real...
-
Well... I guess that maybe lessens the chance of new NUMBER GIRL material, but let's hope they all were/will be very prolific! I haven't been too excited about any of VOLA's stuff except for their first few releases, but might check this out.

Just saw Alita: Battle Angel with a buddy of mine at the movies, and... I actually liked it! I know this isn't saying much, but this might be the best big-budget Western anime/manga adaptation I've seen so far (granted, there isn't much worthy competition, lol). It was thoroughly entertaining, fast-paced, visually awesome and the characters were kinda spot-on too! Weird, but I totally got used to the protagonist's 'crazyeyes' after like 3 mins. She was super funny/cute too btw, especially in the beginning. All around a pretty badass movie. I wouldn't even be mad if they made a sequel (the ending is pretty much set up for it anyway), but as a contained whole I'm completely satisfied with it. Might even watch it a second time.

Already AOTY contender for me. Sounds great so far. Also, did I see it right that they put some songs on the album whose titles are identical to previous single titles (but not actual previously released songs, if that makes sense)? Clever, heh.

This looks kinda like a mess but I'm kinda into it. :'D Cautiously looking forward to that music clip~

New Perturbator track sounds like a remix for an imaginary coldwave band. I LOVE IT.

btw they opened some new official platforms (or I'm not sure whether any of these have been active before): https://www.instagram.com/numbergirl_jp/ https://twitter.com/numbergirl_jp

Sooo... is this a one-gig only reunion or will they be back for good, is what I wonder. In any case good to see them back!! (First SPARTA LOCALS, now NUMBER GIRL - the indie gods are too generous ;w; )

I'm a bit more than halfway through a Hungarian edition of Robert Merle's novel Les hommes protégés (English title is The Virility Factor if I'm correct). The premise of the world's male population depleting due to a virus with women gradually taking the lead is an interesting one, but not sure how to feel about the author's viewpoint so far. It's kinda sexist and weird, although the style is very readable. We'll see where this goes, at this point I'm kinda on the fence with it.
-
I just noticed the album can be bought on Google Play (for quite cheap, at least from my location). https://play.google.com/store/music/album/SPARTA_LOCALS_underground?id=Bmbbis3pgd7ll7mrreq6iezutci *buys faster than the speed of light* edit: Also available on Spotify! I'm really enjoying it so far. It's almost like those 10 years of inactivity didn't even happen, haha.

Their L'Arc~en~Ciel cover from last year's EP is pretty great! That's all.
