浅井健一 (Kenichi Asai) will release his new single titled "METALLIC MERCEDES" on 2019/05/29. It will come in two types: regular CD and limited CD+DVD. The bonus DVD of the limited edition will feature live footage from his solo unit 浅井健一&THE INTERCHANGE KILLS playing an assortment of their own tracks, Kenichi's solo tunes, as well as classics from his old band BLANKEY JET CITY. CD tracklist: 01. METALLIC MERCEDES 02. INDY ANN 03. Hopefully this means that a new solo album isn't too far off!

The beginning of the song is really obnoxious with that screaming, but otherwise it's a good tune as expected from them!

Awesome, can't wait!!

^ The music's pretty killer, but honestly I can't really deal with these type of vocals (I prefer a more rough/harsh sound for my doom). Last one's not bad tho! In other news, new Deathspell Omega album "The Furnaces of Palingenesia" out on May 24!!! 11 tracks in 45 mins. Awesome.

Abysmal Grief are great! I must admit, I haven't given much time to their last album, but I really love their older stuff. "Feretri" is probably my favorite album of theirs - might be because I got to know their music first through that album, and the tour they did not long afterwards. Their live shows have amazing atmosphere too, really theatrical and mysterious! Here's them playing my fave song live a couple years back:

Whoah, nice find(s)! Another interesting additive to this last factoid is that Media Youth's guitarist KIYOSHI became a member of 'hide with Spread Beaver'... aaand later made a project with HAKUEI (machine).

The song featuring Atsushi is up on Spotify apparently (dunno if it can be listened to internationally or not, I don't have a Spoti' account), and also Japanese iTunes, Mora, etc. Those without Spotify can have a listen here for example. edit: well that was a mess, lmao. The chorus is okay I guess but the rest... wow. :')))

Honestly, I thought they disbanded ages ago...

遠藤ミチロウ (Endo Michirou), of the legendary Japanese punk band The Stalin (and a productive solo career) has passed away in a Tokyo hospital on 2019/04/25, after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. The funeral where only his close relatives were present was held shortly afterwards. Rest in peace, the OG Japanese punk rocker!

I think they played this one on their live DVD? Cool to hear it properly recorded finally, good song. edit: lmao okay, I just realized this was already released. Yeah, their songs kinda sound the same to me, still I dig 'em!

My body is ready.

I was initially kinda confused/let down, maybe I was hoping too much for the same style as 黒百合と影... ;( It's not bad, but honestly if it was any rando band there's a good chance I'd skip over this. We'll see.
-
Yeah, I think this was just a one-off experiment. Would be nice tho if they released a 'regular mix' too... Because otherwise it would be a good single.

That's because the band experimented with the mixing. I don't recall the exact specifics but iirc it was some '3D surround sound' type of stuff, meant for an immersive experience. So you prolly have to listen to it on like a system with multiple speakers (like Dolby 5.1?) or something... if you listen to it thru regular speakers or headphones it sounds kinda bad. I don't have any fancy setup to test it out tho, so I can't personally vouch for this, lol.

Looks like the band premiered their first music vid at Cure Fest today (if I understood it correctly). Hopefully they upload it on YT soon~

Longer sample of both music videos: "Kemono-tachi no yoru" is giving me 'Dokudanjou Beauty but darker' vibes~

New Drab Majesty album "Modern Mirror" out on 12th July. ♥

Bit late to the party, but I finally checked out that new Darkthrone track. Awesome epic filthy doomy vibe! Reminds me of Celtic Frost too, @Euronymous! I was also getting some Dream Death vibes.

Seeing the gig title and the session band name 'Japanese Pop Fanclub', I wonder if they'll perform some NUMBER GIRL tunes? Would be interesting.
