I've been swaying back and forth over this for a whole day now... just can't decide, dammit. XD Will report back later, lol.
  2. They look kinda . . . horny~ looking forward to the mini, hopefully there'll be some cool electro-party tracks.

GALEYD is cool and all but I have a closer connection with DELUHI's songs - also I can remember tons more of their songs than GALEYD's (I can recall like...one? xD). They also went through an interesting change in sound, and even though I don't particularly jam anymore to their latter few tracks, I feel that their career was pretty solid. GALEYD had a good run too tho. So going with DELUHI on this one.

Got to see Kvelertak last night, gig was amazing. The opening act was a local band called Grizzly (lol) who played kinda standard sludgey doom metal a la Down and that sort of stuff. They were decent but a bit too much for 40 minutes. Kvelertak, of course, slayed. For the first song the vocalist dude came out with that mounted owl prop with glowing eyes on his head, lmao. They pretty much played all but 5 of their songs or so. I felt that most of the crowd was a bit stiff in the beginning but throughout the gig a nice festive atmosphere bloomed, so it was a pretty cool place to be. Great show! Here's a vid of one of my fave songs... ...and this was what the end of the gig looked like, haha. Great guys, fun concert. (lol @ 0:34 left guitarist giving instrument to random audience member)

The Hands of Orlac is awesome~! Should re-watch it someday too..
  7. This is a hard one since both bands were excellent in their own style, especially at the beginning. I will have to choose Phantasmagoria tho, because they sucked for a shorter period of time than Vidoll, lol (who basically began their downward spiral while they were still at UC).

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - Despite the ridiculously long title, much like its predecessor, this one is another fine installment in the Apes franchise reboot. Action-packed, intriguing and touching at points, it's a really nice and entertaining flick, especially if you're into the whole topic/storyline. Again, the apes look and act in a superb way, so props to the special effects department and Andy Serkis too of course (and all the others). A bit too sentimentally drawn-out towards the end but that was my only gripe. Good one!

^ Thanks for the rec, this is more than enough! All of these look/sound good, so gonna check them out one by one. I already know & love Sakamichi no Apollon but the others are completely new to me.

I just finished watching the Knights of Sidonia anime series, and man, do I hate it when a series isn't "complete" but you'll have to wait for another season for the story to continue... So basically my question is, can anyone please recommend me good/extraordinary series from the past ~5 years that don't have a billion seasons (nor hundreds of episodes), but are nice and closed storylines? Preferably something serious in tone.

    Sounds...sexy~

Welcome, welcome! Yay for Alice Nine & MEJIBRAY~
  18. I saw lots of ppl were interested in this release, so hopefully this review thread will get more activity... I was looking forward to hearing the 1st release of the interestingly named My BACTERIA HEAT IsLAND, no less because I usually find Tenten's (or Taira's or whoever's) bands and projects unique and always something worth checking out. Poor me - well, okay, the situation isn't that grim but I should've lowered my expectations in advance. The first song starts off with the blandest, lamest, laziest excuse for trying to sound br00tal and modern and hip, via those typical one-note 'core chuggathons...and then the screaming starts. When Tenten switches to the chorus it's like a big wet slap in the face with a slightly pungent fish - it just somehow doesn't fit and his voice irritates me (didn't think I'd ever say such a thing). The second track isn't better either. Despite the faster tempo in the verses it can almost be swapped for the opening song and I would barely notice (see: chorus). Completely skippable and unremarkable. It wasn't until track 3 that the release got my interest. This one resorts to the cookie-cutter 'core influenced guitar formula too, but puts a bit of a spin on it - just enough random simple tricks for it to stand out. The whole song isn't that memorable but compared to what I heard before it's like a breath of fresh air. Energetic, punchy, even somewhat varied. Good job here. The closing song doesn't seem like anything special after this, but at least it's not more of the typical trying-to-be-br00tal kei stylings - instead it's just typical melodic modern kei, lol. It's harmless enough and doesn't leave a sour taste in my mouth (ears? xD), so I guess it's passable. For a first release this EP is not bad. I hope the band experiments and takes risks a bit more in the future, and that they'll have the balls and creativity to do so - because there are already some seeds of nice ideas in there. | good for a listen or two if you don't mind mostly uninspired stuff

First I was like "oh god, do we need another band like this?" but somehow the preview sounds kinda decent enough. Will keep an eye out for them.
