The title track of single "Real?" is an uplifting tune with "futuristic beats" and whatnot ("sure to become a new live anthem", etc) produced by Jam & Lewis. The coupling track "Set It On Fire" is produced by Jeff Blue who previously worked with Linkin Park for example, so we can expect a "masculine" song with energy and stuff. Bonus tracks with London live footage are to be included as well. Cover art: (via Google Translator, so some finer details about the style of music might not be that accurate xD)

For a long time I was avoiding BFN cuz their first PV/song was kinda dumb and boring but then I randomly checked out something they did later and decided to give them a shot... and they're not bad at all! Ice has a very capable and nice voice (he especially shines in the new single's A-side imo) and they manage to make their songs interesting most of the time by all the electronic thingies. Hence, I tend to prefer their material with an abundance of said electro-effects but their more "plain" songs ain't bad either. I'm not a fan but their stuff can be nice to listen to, on occasion from time to time.

Their live-only demo CD thingie isn't too bad... it's hard for me to make a fair opinion because the production/sound was so crap but the music seems okay enough. Gonna stick around to check out what they'll have to offer in the future anyway.

Since my last post here I finished both the Mötley Crüe autobiography and Junky by Burroughs. Both were okay, maybe the Mötley book was a bit more enjoyable, tho became a bit repetitive by the end. Didn't find anything especially interesting in Burroughs' novel but it was not bad for one reading (I suspect The Naked Lunch will be more to my tastes). Currently reading: - The Hundrer-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson: this is an interesting one because during the very beginning I felt it's not really compelling to read and even a bit too mundane but gradually it got better. For me it seems to be one of those mildly entertaining books you'll read once, maybe twice, enjoy it but won't have the drive to seek it out again in the future. Not bad so far (almost halfway now). - Teatro Grottesco by Thomas Ligotti: dunno how to properly categorize this really... what's certain is that it's a collection of short stories, haha. Ligotti is often likened to Lovecraft and I can vaguely sense that's an accurate parallel to make, even if his subject matter doesn't involve slimey monsters that make people go insane. The stories are much more subtle and have an overarching feel of absurdity, hopelesness and are often very fragmentary or contain just descriptions and theorizing on unsettling subjects. A nice break from the more "typical" type of horror I'm used to.

Wow this actually looks/sounds pretty promising~

Hmmm looking forward to hearing it. They still know how to write some kickass stuff here and there (even if their last album wasn't to my liking as a whole).

Sounds okay so far. And yeah, I really really hope the announcement is for a new album~

Went to see Die Antwoord last night, killer show, huge killer crowd, everything was just awesome. Dancin' and jumpin' a-plenty. It was insane.

So what did you guys think of Grieva's new single? Personally, I'm lovin' it! (no surprise, lol) ...well, actually it's more like I didn't expect these two songs to be such high quality with that speed they're churning out releases lately but my fears were quickly swept away when the opening guitars of the first track rang out. This one is a pretty tame and fun melodic song with lots of energy and feeling throughout - from the catchy chorus to the appropriate guiar solo and subtle synths (and even some acoustic guitarplay) in the background. Very tastefully done, I'm impressed! The SE track is nothing special of course but it's a decent separating border between the two distinctly contrasting tracks. Here comes the darker stuff... it's pretty wild and has that awesome "spinning out of control" atmosphere that is so characteristic of Grieva's more manic numbers. It's a solid track with a simple but fitting chorus. All in all, Sei to shi is quite a kickass single that is also a bit too compact - but at least it seems to have some sort of concept running through it, making it a cohesive whole. Nice job! | another cool release, if only it were a bit longer~

Dude, the first article you're linking is from 2 days ago but the second one is... from 2001? lol Anyway, I wouldn't be too concerned just yet about the virus since we're all living in highly developed countries. Ebola spreads via direct contact with bodily fluids like blood or saliva, and in a natural everyday situation it cannot spread so easily if you're being careful (not even with water or other fluids) -- as far as I've heard anyway. It sure is a vile disease tho. By the way, there is one ebola patient now in the US but that's only because s/he got it in Africa as a US citizen and doctors thought s/he might have a better chance of treatment in the USA.

Stumbled upon a pretty cool band yesterday, Take Over And Destroy (or, alternatively, TOAD, lol). Nice old-school sounding mixture of black metal, this sludgey blackened hardcore thingie that seems to be all the rage recently and some interesting vintage elements (organ-like keyboards) that bring out a nice occult and horror-like atmosphere imo. People tend to stick weird labels onto them like '70s inspired and rock'n'rollish, even bringing Jim Morrison into the picture but I think some of these are a bit of a stretch. xD Anyway, nice groovy music -- also gotta say, I really dig the voice of the vocalist. They're dropping new tracks left and right currently cuz their new album is coming out in like 2 weeks' time. Here's a track from last year to get u guys started: (their old stuff is more standard sounding and straightforward, also some cool tunes there) http://takeoveranddestroy.bandcamp.com/ (their 2 releases so far) http://bouerecords.bandcamp.com/album/drone-throne-toad (their oldest recording, a split with Drone Throne)
