I watched the 1st ep of Penny Dreadful last night, and will definitely continue with it. It's not pure horror of course, more like mystical fantasy light-horror whatever set in 19th century England. So far we have creepy vampires (?), corpse reanimation through galvanism, some Egyptian theme and evil spirits or something like that. Also, an American dude who handles a gun well, so I'm guessing it'll occasionally steer into light-action territory like Sleepy Hollow.

I have also laid my eyes upon Penny Dreadful, but haven't started watching yet. Supposedly it's an interesting mixture of styles presented in a dark and entertaining tone. Thanks for reminding me of it! Maybe I'll now track down the episodes aired so far.

Well damn... I hope MAST finds a worthwhile band to join (eventho I know he won't get back to the good ol' Aliene days).

I don't think VK prices are actually higher (or noticeably higher) than most non-VK stuff. I tend to see regular J-rock or major J-pop releases in exactly the same price range. However, I did notice that some bands from the post-hardcore / deathcore / emocore / etc.-core scenes have lower prices on their CDs, also some select indie artists.

New PV: Getting massive old-school SHERBETS vibes from thisss

Went to the press screening of Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways to Die in the West and got the novel version for free - so reading that at the moment. Surprisingly decent and funny stuff. He managed to translate some jokes well into written form (I mean those that were purely visual gags).

PV yay~

awww good for him

Nice~

Anvil: The Story of Anvil - Documentary about an old Canadian heavy metal band who still hasn't quite made it big (tho they enjoyed moderate success in the '80s). Very interesting look into the personal lives of the band members, how they still keep going and still hoping to get the recognition they deserve. It's all a bit sad really, but filled with both funny and stressful moments. The ending is nice!

Oh wow, this sounds pretty tragic. The last sample was kinda decent tho. Well, one band less to follow...

Live report of their first show (with photos): http://www.barks.jp/news/?id=1000104267 Apparently they played some of their own new music and 3 SOFT BALLET covers (FRACTAL, VIRTUAL WAR, JIM DOG). There's only the two of them on stage, with only synths. The sound was described as modern/fresh, new wave-ish, with danceable bits. A mini album is expected in autumn.

Nice!

I see! I recommend their albums Silence iz Mine (first album, more diverse sound) and Seeds of Hope (just cool catchy stuff), those are pretty good. I'm not a big fan of their latest one.

Funny thing is, it's actually a step up from the artwork of the preceding singles. (tho that's no big feat)

Lillies and Remains will release their new album (title unknown as of now) in autumn. The release will be produced by Maki Fujii (ex-SOFT BALLET, SUILEN, minus (-)). Trailer of the song "BODY" OMG YESSSS
