Thinking about it literally makes me sick to my stomache.

News Article Insane people, would you please CUT IT THE FUCK OUT! This is getting ridiculous.

Get a tripod and do some long exposures! Here in Wisconsin the weather is being a bitch and staying warm -__-

Jumbinai is pretty awesome. Their album has a few blah songs, but over all I found it pretty great. I can't deal with the spoken words in Farewell Poetry's stuff. That is just not my cup of tea. Immanu El's vocals are still not really something I like, but they are much better that ILikeTrains (which I think suck). I will check out more of their stuff.

Just finished Le Chevalier D'Eon. I enjoyed it, the setting was refreshingly different (France), but the plot was pretty convoluted...all said, good but not great. Probably wouldn't recommened to anyone unless they wanted to watch something specific that this anime fulfills (like the setting).

I think it wouldn't be nearly as bad if it wasn't left aligned.

I have been recently enjoying El Ten Eleven. They are pretty different, but I think that is a lot of what I have been enjoying about them.

Just finished Catching Fire. I am also reading Voltaire's Candide...never saw myself reading a classic for fun ever, but I am not going to lie, it isn't have bad and I feel pretty good for doing it lol.

To be honest, I don’t care for what either band is today. Gazette’s last album was a pile of crap and Dir en Grey…well, I didn’t hate DSS, but I can’t even imagine myself listening to it again. Gazette has done some awesome stuff. DIM was a great, cohesive, and moody album. Filth in the Beauty is one of my favorite jrock songs. Disorder and Nil aren’t bad either. But then again they have Division, Stacked Rubbish, and Toxic which are all crap imo. While I might not like what Dir en Grey is now, I still love a lot of their old releases. Gauze, Kisou, Six Ugly, and Withering to Death are albums that I still enjoy the crap out of today. Even the albums I enjoy less like Vulgar and Macabre are still pretty good. Marrow of a Bone and Dum Spiro Spero are the only albums I think are bad, and I don’t think they come close to as bad as Division. So, while I still like Gazette (or what they used to be), Dir en Grey wins this one easy imo.

The name of the Rose is still one of my favorite Jrock albums ever, so it is hard for me not to vote. Looking at both bands entire careers, it is easy for me to vote for D. While D has some bad/boring releases (like the dog turd that is Snow White), they have had some awesome stuff as well. Versialles on the other hand has had some good stuff, a lot of boring stuff, and a handful of great stuff. Nothing of their comes up to the level that I associate with D's best work. That said, what D is right now is not the old D. Asagi has become an attention whore with his vocals and a lot of their song wrighting has gotten very stale. I think Versailles has been more more consitent in this area. If I were to compare the two bands as what they are today, I still think D has a slight edge, but not nothing like if we compaired their entire careers.

I need to log on more often lol.

Code Geass has a lot to like about it. The plot makes sure that I disregard all of that. Note: I have note seen season 2 nor do I have any plans to. The end of season 1 was such a dumb cliffhanger place to end that it was the final straw. Huge problem number one: It's hard to enjoy a show when you genuienly don't like the main character. 2: Some of the dubbest plot twist in history. bonsaijodelfisch mentioned the one that I have the biggest problem with. It wasn't smart. It wasn't shocking. It was just stupid. I barely kept watching after this. 3: Pacing - Sometimes this seemed to rush, other times is dragged. And then there were the painful cliffhangers which are just cheap. IMO Code Geass is average at best. No way I would ever call it a masterpiece.

I am starting to get that too...lots of friends getting married and other friends having babies ON PURPOSE! ::mind blows up::

lynch, no questions asked. Maybe a few years ago I would have maybe had a tougher time, but Deathgaze really hasn't put anything great out for a while. There have been some crap lynch. albums,b ut I always feel like they recover right after and put out something great.

hmm, first though then would be to start off with some movies. That way you guys don't need to commit to a show and you can get a good feel as to how watching anime together will go. Note: My recommendations arn't necessarily my absolute favorites, just ones I think will work great for you two. For movies, here are my recommendations: Princess Mononoke - (Fantasy/Action) My favorite animated movie. Great mix of story and action with great themes and beautiful art to go along with it. The dub is pretty decent too (if you prefer to watch in English). Kiki's Delivery Service - (Slice of Life/Fantasy/Family) A very light harted movie about the coming of age of a young witch. This movie might be aimed at young kids, but I still love it. This is the first movie I watched with my girlfriend. Very cute and upbeat. Summer Wars - (Action/Sci-fi/Comedy) I am not even sure how to explain this one....it is Digimon the movie but better lol. I could explain the premise, but it would sound really stupid...it is sooo much better than it sounds. 5 Centimeters per Second - (Drama/Romance) If you want to want to watch one of the most beautiful animations ever created, look no further. Be warned, this anime has a very melancholy mood, so don't expect any bright and happy romance here. Show Recommedations: Cowboy Bebop - (Action/Drama/Sci-fi) I don't know how anyone can NOT like Cowboy Bepop. It is the perfect bland of story and action. It has great character and fluid animation. It also has one of the best sound tracks in anime ever. The English dub is also fantastic (I much prefer it over the original Japanese) which is rare. Natsume Yuujinchou - (Drama/Slow-Paced) While this show is a bit more on the Shojo side, I find it very easy to like as a guy. It is a bit slower paced, but the show gives off such a great vibe. I found this show great for watching before bed, I would imagine it would be awesome to snuggle to. Darker Than Black - (Action/Sci-fi) Great characters and interesting superpowers are the defining feature of this anime. It fuctions on a 2 episode story arc. Hope that helps with some good ones to start with!

I'm psyched, the 25th anniversary Final Fantasy Distant Worlds concert is coming up in chicago this friday

That makes a lot of sense, actually

What kind of stuff do you two like? It's a lot easier if we know a bit about both of your tastes. Maybe tell us what show that you have watched and like as well as what your partner likes. Also, are you up for watching older shows? And maybe most important, how into anime is you guys? if one of you is only kind of in to anime, there are a lot of shows I would flat out avoid (Pretty much anything that plays off of anime cliches, anything moe, anything with more than a tiny bit of fan service, and most things with a high school setting).

I am using Win8 right now and I honestly don't think the start bar placement would be any different from 7 to 8.
-
Nice, I love aie's stuff.
-
Don't knock yourself so much. You got something going there, keep it up!
-
Well that could depend on preference but here's some of my recommendations: Ano Natsu de Matteru Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun Zetsuen no Tempest Any movies by Miyazaki Eden of the East Gurren Lagann Code Geass Clannad the movie Air the movie To be challenging, I say don't bother watching Code Geass. It starts out strong and then just turns in to total garbage. XD
-
Man, I can never stand the side start bars XD Don't know you do it XD

I have my fingers crossed that they will play in Madison again. I missed them when they were here last.
