  1. I'm surprised there are some disappointments surrounding one song.

Notice that the song by itself is roughly 500yen. That's the standard for one songs releases.

Also notice, you're paying about 2000yen more for music videos. And since it says more, there might be some live songs thrown in if you're lucky.

In either case, their last release was a double a-side, so saving some songs for an album is something I'd prefer.

    Very good prices :D

  2. Hmm, I was going to try to sell these a while back. Interested in any of them?

  3. nobody will follow vior gloire cos of kei?

brodiaea was an amazing band when he played there...

    *raises hand*

Now I just want Mahiro to come back, because he wrote one of my favorite songs.

  4. This seems counter productive :| You kind of lose your trade mark you built as Arc and I don't know how Japanese fans are but obviously most Western fans are pretty disappointed. Do Japanese fans get excited for this kind of goofy shit? Then again, maybe this is the best for them? Wasn't Arc not that popular over there anyway? So the band thought the best way to go about it is reboot under a new name and start over hopefully gaining some momentum and build up a fanbase they couldn't do under Arc?

Well whatever the case I liked some Arc songs but not a lot. I will probably check out their first release to see if it will blow my mind and changes this era of Visual Kei ~

I think you're pretty spot on.

Arc was initially fairly popular, but they suddenly changed styles and went through an awkward musical puberty that lasted years, so I think they actually spent most of their career having few fans. (And God knows they're unpopular with foreigners!) Restarting like this will give them more of a chance to gain momentum like you said (and I think the Japanese are more forgiving with theoretical bullshit moves like these).

I also think it has to do with the fact that Arc was formed by those same members when they were like 17 or something, and anyone is going to change a ton from 17 to 24 (or whoever old they are). So I'm sure just wanting to shed that baggage was part of it as well.

However, although I can kind of understand their thinking, it's still sort of a bullshit move. The only good thing I can say is that I'm glad KISAKI didn't announce this and draw it out for months and months; there wasn't even talk of a new band until about a week before, which lessens the disappointment a little.

  5. He wrote a few good songs in Syndrome, but compared to some of yoshitsugu's work he's nothing sorry. His only saving grace for me is his ability to pick a great vocalist to work with, but you're a UCP stan so you're bound to differ.

Wow, Syndrome is the only band of his that I don't really like at all. Reversed opinions! (I do agree though that the Eins:Vier song was nice. I'm sure that guy is a great writer like you say.)

But like you say, I'm a fan of KISAKI for a reason.

  6. satsuki can't write a song to save his life.

    this better be amazing~~

true, but yoshitsugu is one of the best songwriters in vk - the songs he wrote for Eins:Vier, catenine and alcana are flawless. Praying he writes this and not Kisaki, Hayato or Jack, all of whom can't write a decent song to save their life. Especially Jack.

It's KISAKI feat. Satsuki (and his role is ONLY vocalist); the other “members” are just support musicians for that one live. KISAKI will be writing all songs, sorry :(. (And not even trying to start wank here, but you really think he can't write a decent song to save his life? KISAKI PROJECT has always been really really good, in my opinion at least. In fact, the reason I consider him a real musician at all (because it's not like he's a BASS WIZARD) is because he's such a great writer.)

  7. I'm proud to own a handful of things, but the two that really stand out are Dali-related. Those two are super special because, as far as I know, their existence wasn't documented anywhere before I found them!

First, a SUGAR FORKFUL VHS. I still remember the scene: freshman year, in the dorm, doing my regular check of mbok, when suddenly--“SF VHS.” ...What?!?! It was maybe 400 yen, but I bid like 8,000, and was crazy with anxiety over the next days, just knowing someone else would still win. In the end, I won (see below), and it was glorious ;O;~ As far as I know, my fansite is still the only source anywhere that mentions the VHS (which contains a PV clip, btw), so yeah, I really treasure it.

(Side story: the same seller had a huge set of SF photos, let's say for 200 yen. I really wanted that too, but it couldn't possibly have as much interest as the VHS, right?, so I bid maybe 2,000 yen, and even that seems excessive. Lo and behold: bidding war over the photos, not single other bid on the VHS. I lost the photos, and am still disappointed about that, but I'm mostly shocked at how Japanese fans could value photos over videos. Still baffles me!)

Second item is a Lese larme DT. Similar situation, but last year: in my room, browsing mbok, see “Lese larme DT (Dali Ren&KEETO ex-band).” What?!?! Not grass thread, not VKDB, no one lists those guys as having an ex band called Lese larme, so I'm sure the seller is mistaken. But there's a picture in the auction, and I recognize that cro-magnon forehead anywhere--that's Ren!! So I bid and win with no drama, that's that. It's still bizarre to me, though, how seemingly no one online knew (as far as I can find, at least) that Ren and KEETO were in a band together, pre-Tsuki no Kakera--even moreso because it was well known that “guy from some band called Lese larme” had done support for SUGAR FORKFUL! To me, fascinating.

There are other items that I'm proud to own, but these are things that I knew of and had been searching for for a long time. So they're also precious to me, but not quite as spectacular.

    - KISAKI with Matina family - NECROPOLIS

    - Tsuki no Kakera - Two demotapes

    - brodiaea - trace of vision

    - Maryedi†Creia' - One-day-revival dist CD

    - KISAKI - a basement Melody...

    - KALEN - emotional graduation

    - SUGAR FORKFUL × R-Café - Cocktail Party

    - KISAKI - BEYOND THE KINGDOM

  8. I'm liking "if...reminiscence" because of the cheesy female vocals, probably made by the same person Malice Mizer used in "麗しき仮面の招待状." Very excited for this release and a bit irked that this isn't on the US Amazon, nor iTunes since I cannot afford the physical CD at the moment.

It is on US Amazon! You just can't buy it until 8/3. Check again~

  9. is it just me or does Vkei seem to have a larger than natural proportion of people dying than whould be normal

or a certain trend of people retiring from scene and making up a polite excuse that doesn't raise much questions.

don't believe he's dead tbh, same with Jasmine U.

Really? Easier to fake your death than retire? Or are you joking?

  10. There were way too many forgotten gems aka "godtier bands" in 90s vk scene.

Some people are just way too lazy to dig deeper into the history of tranny visuals

    I wouldn't say so.

That's the typical myth 90vk fans tend to write but no one has yet proved it. There few (3 maybe 4) really good bands in the 90 vk scene. The rest were just goth power ragers with some french aspiration with terrible vocalists and everborken guitars.

Eh, I think you're both wrong. 90s visual kei had a good amount of god-tier bands and a good amount of goth french aspirations; just as '00s visual kei did and early '10s visual kei does. Trends change, but I doubt that demographics really change like people say--the only thing that changes is your perception.

On a separate note, I love how they can't even tell the difference between a metal-esque logo and a 90s gothic visual kei logo. Embarrassed for them!

  11. So it's like a single...but not really. This just makes my head hurt thinking about it x__x

Either way at least we'll get an idea of what AMON sounds like. Plus, the new version of Zan has me interested. Wonder if it will be the old one, the new one or a potentially even newer one.

The Japanese on the cover says “unpublished remix,” so I would assume it's just a kinda-different-but-probably-not-really-that-different mix of that 2009 recording. Otherwise I think they would use the term “new recording” or “new version,” rather than “remix.”

  12. Hmm, I think you're slightly wrong on this one?

If I recall correctly, Cecir attended a friend's wedding, and that friend was an ex-MERE REVEIL member. They wrote a song for the bride as a wedding gift and performed that song at the wedding. So if I understood correctly, it wasn't so much a one day revival, and they never announced any activities or anything like that. I think it was just a misunderstanding.

@Peace and that should sound familiar to you 'cause I think I tweeted you about it, or wrote about it in another thread or something.

  13. Actually, LOGICAL SHOOTER will be given to people who attend both days of Cu[be] 2DAYS oneman.

they seem pretty unpopular so maybe that's why

they're like the pashya of 2011

That's pretty much true though (except that I don't hate them). Cu[be] still have a pretty immature sound, but I definitely think they have potential. That being said, I expect them to have a Synside -esque life history.
