Pretty much agree with CAT5 here, the ability to go out and play some songs in a coffee shop or your local rock house, get a label to notice you and make a well paying career out of that (in the US) is a pipe dream. I believe the rock industry is dying. I don't believe, however, that the spirit of rock is dying. Bands are figuring it out on their own more and more these days, and with iTunes, bandcamp, youtube, and a plethora of social media, bands are doing it for themselves. I do believe we'll see more indie labels or completely DIY artists. Maybe rock goes back underground for a while... but for most of the genres I listen to, they've always been like that. As for Gene, he'll be sorry to see the passing of the torch from the days when Rock was King handed off to other genres. But the pendulum will always swing, and maybe the genre needs to go back to grass roots for a while to weed out all the bandwagoners and money grubbers ripping off the bands to make a buck.

Edit: Slightly edited that comment to sound more coherent. I'm sleep deprived and it was kind of redundant in parts.

Music should, indeed, be a free thing.  I'm glad that, as it would seem from that quote, Ryutaro (and Pura in general?) would probably agree with that.

I don't think I've heard anyone use "gangsta" since mid-2000's. Glad to see Sadie is as progressive as ever.

Not too excited since their last few releases were bad. I'll never get another Master of Romance 2 but even a Cold Blood 2 would be nice.

I remember reading (or seeing from somewhere) where Ryutaro was quoted saying: "I don't really think about the genre when writing songs. I just think about which sound would best express what I write about", or something to that effect. I believe this is a good practice, that way they would never get restricted to one particular sound (and in turn, widen their fanbase).

    Just a thought.

I wasn't a fan of pura at first, and I only had/liked a couple of their songs. The first pura song I heard was Sanatorium, and it actually became soundtrack of my 2012 second quarter. It wasn't until I started reading about their history and influences that I started to understand why/how they sound the way they do. I realized that a good number of their influences were the same as mine growing up. That's when I really started to listen to their songs and ended really loving them.

Not sure if it has any relevance, but my middle name is actually "Pura" and my band's name is "Atori". Just a funny coincidence.

Welp here we go Nintendo has a new 3DS model coming out in October in Japan.

This actually sounds pretty sweet if this new model can really run more intensive games like Xenoblade Chronicles. Also the price point sounds pretty spot on. I'd upgrade for those features.

Freedom Wars sounds interesting but I've tried God Eater and one of the things that turned me off from that game was the camera, you have to adjust it constantly.
I was considering trying Monster Hunter for the 3DS (it doesn't suffer from difficult camera does it?) but I heard it's really hard. Neither problems I want to put up with when playing an action-RPG. Speaking of difficult RPGs.

Persona Q aka Etrian Odyssey with Persona skin. From what I've seen it really does look like a combination of both games. There's the first person dungeon crawling, map drawing, F.O.E and boost system from EO and the press turn system and social links from Persona.

I have a feeling I'm going to like this game more than the main Persona games since Q won't have constantly changing rooms and everyone can change personas, not just the main protagonist. I've played both EO Untold and P4 so I mostly know what to expect.

Persona Q for the 3DS comes out November 25, 2014 in the US, 28 in the EU.

I'm no camera expert but my husband is and has over 100 cameras new and old.  His favorite is Pantex KX, both DSLR and 35mm SLR.  He also recommends the Sony NEX-6 because most Sony cameras can use Minolta lenses, which are his favorite because you can use lenses from the 1980's and up.  But here is a shot from his Olympus E-510 which is digital:

I've honestly only heard one NB release, but I wouldn't spend money on it because I wasn't that into it.  However, personally, I'm on the whole I have no money, my girlfriend and I live with her parents and feeding myself is more of a priority than feeding a musician.  And, as such, pirating doesn't seem that bad when there are people who are the band's target audience in their actual country who probably can and will buy their stuff when they can--this goes for any band, not just NB.  There are certain times where I have extra cash and I buy a CD, but let's be real, it'd be virtually impossible for me to afford every single release I enjoy at this time.  But, threatening to sue your fans?  Kinda shitting where you eat, imo.

So I finally decided to switch from JAM to something new on my Desktop... Don't get me wrong I love JAM, but I felt that I wanted something a little more flexible on my desktop. I still have JAM installed on my laptop though, it's the perfect skin for laptops.
