I don't know, I personally loved this album. Then again, it doesn't matter what his past discography was like, how un-majestic his vocals are, and how some songs have the lyrical genius of Lil' Wayne (I'm looking at you No One Knows My Name). Nevertheless, this album did what I wanted it to do: Give me some new Miyavi material and have those awesome, pumping guitar riffs that he is famous for (even though in some songs it seems like it's the same 3 riffs).

Is this album perfect or amazing? Not really, but it's way better than his previous album, the single songs are better this time around are better than his previous album, and I really love the production this time around.

The thing I most thoroughly enjoyed about this album was how all the songs were able to pump me up. With all the songs, I found myself dancing to the melody, randomly grabbing my guitar and playing along, or just jumping up and dancing and playing air guitar (Don't Judge Me). I actually just had a party with some friends, had this album playing (None of my friends know Japanese music), and this was loved and danced to at the party so it's not bad.

it's alright. not bad at all. better than anything on what's my name, which was mostly shit. though apart from samurai sessions, he's been quite repetive lately. I don't understand people talking about his creativity. day 1 and ahead of the light were pretty much the same. even the new song follows the same formula. funky guitar riff repeating over and over, unmelodic verse coming along and building up to a catchy chorus. samurai sessions and that kabuki-stuff are the best thing he has done. this minimalistic music got boring two years ago. this new sound is what what's my name should have been, but now it's time to move on. more samurai sessions please.

edit: now that I think of it, the chorus of horizon sounds like it could be from a flo rida song or the likes. which I approve. I see what he's doing there.

    About BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY (Shoxx vol.245)

    BY heresiarchy on TUMBLR:

—How much has [the new album] progressed so far?

Ruki: Just a bit now and we’ll be done with pre-production, and the lyrics are still to be done. They’re still at a temporary stage.

—Do they change considerably from the temporary lyrics?

Ruki: Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don’t change that much. But they often do change.

—The album title, BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY, has already been announced so that means there’s already an idea behind it?

Ruki: Yes. Because this time the concept was also to create a “the GazettE” album. In the beginning, everyone was misled by the word “DEFORMITY” but it’s not something focused only on that. The album’s concept is also that we wanted to make it an album with each member’s songs on it in the form that all members agree on.
    (…)

—What kind of album will BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY be in terms of composition?

Ruki: I guess there’s lots of variation. But, it’s not like TOXIC and DIVISION. Speaking of song variation, it’s closer to our older albums. Closer to STACKED RUBBISH and NIL.

—I see. And DIM was a conceptual album.

Ruki: Yeah. DIM was a thing for itself. This one is different from that. It might also give off an impression like, “This is what you’re doing in this day and age!?” Well, I’ll talk about the specifics sometime in the future.

^ I think it means you've never tried at all or have tried very little, but might be interested.

For people interested in Gackt - Mars, Crescent, and Rebirth are good, solid Gackt classics. Mars is an especially great choice if you liked Gackt in Malice Mizer because his vocal style was still a bit similar to when he sang in that era. Everything else afterwards is either hit or miss; a lot of the music post-2008 is just outright bland and soulless in my opinion.

For Sex Pistols, Never Mind the Bollocks is basically their only studio album so that's not too difficult, lol.

I downloaded "The Essential Clash" just out of curiosity from iTunes a long while ago and ended up enjoying them, though I haven't heard much else. If you don't want to shell out $15 for a digital album, I'd probably look for a smaller compilation.

The Beatles is a new one for me as well. This kid at my school gave me their whole discography on a flash drive last year and I haven't listened to everything yet, but so far my favorites have been Abbey Road and Magical Mystery Tour.

    Completely 2nd this, also adding:
ViViD - Lately.... HAHAHAHA! Sorry, thought I would open with a joke.
Matenrou Opera - I loved their old stuff but their new stuff sounds a lot more better and I am hooked by every release. I think it's because of the better production on their stuff and that gorgeous new album of theirs
Periphery - They used to be an all djent mathcore band but lately they've been getting lighter on the djent stuff and have some more awesome songs!
Vistlip - It might just be me but they were awesome then, but now they are getting better. CHIMERA was pretty good, GLOSTER has to be the heaviest, sickest release yet by them, and their latest album was better to me than prior ones.

UNITE! - Their first album was decent, but they really shined with their second album. Catchier songs and more versatility with the second album...well versatile compared to the first album.

Don't act like you didn't want to review this! What do you think of their first album!

Not gonna lie, I was disappointed to know that half this album was old songs, BUT since they re-recorded them, I'll let it slide.

Abzu - Don't usually review instrumentals, BUT THIS WAS AWESOME! I had chills! 5/5

Pandemic - Fuck yeah! Cool ass opening riff and then that little instrumental intro part before the verse starts where the piano is playing that creepy tune. BEAUTIFUL! Vocals are excellent...didn't expect any less. On a side note...what's with band titling Pandemic....Alsdead, Nocturnal Bloodlust...I feel like there is another band who did it...ah! f*ck it! this is the best one! 4.5/5

    3. Last relapse - First re record. Guitar solo was a nice touch, but I don't think it was needed at all. I would have liked if the original high scream in the second verse stayed the same. I don't like that "OH!" echo thing...4/5

    4. Domestic Crisis - This was the new song I was actually really excited for to be honest. I liked the previews chorus a lot.  I don't like this overall instrumental too much except that bridge between the first and second chorus. The chorus was still really great! That "Hey ladies!" "Hey! fellas"...made the song a little silly to me, but it grew on me after a few listens. For some reason though...I felt I was just sitting around waiting for the chorus to start. I didn't feel anything else outside of that and everything else kind of just went by me. 3/5

    5. Empty glass - Decent song. I can see this being their mainstream, break out song. "oh, oh, oh!" Is he saying "hell yeah, FUCK YOU/YEAH!"? Either or...bad a**. 4/5

    6. Disaster - That synth in the background reminds me of a creepy circus lol. "OH MY GOD!"...I actually don't like this song as much especially those random slowing down parts. It's not that it is bad sounding, but it feels like it doesn't go with the song AT all. Like drop it in at completely random points on the songs. I wasn't really a fan of that crazy screaming breakdown part after the slow down portion either. Decent, but nothing I'll put on repeat. 3/5

    7. Sphere - Perfect. Nothing else to say. PERFECT! 5+/5

    8. Aster - Didn't think this band could pull off a ballad, but I'm pleasantly surprised with this one. I feel all the emotion and it's lovely to hear more bass and have the guitars take a back seat. Also, I love the drummers way of playing. He has some really distinct grooves when he plays (listen to Sphere for another good example). Beautiful. I felt every emotion in this song! 5/5

    9. UNBREAKABLE - next to Sphere THIS IS MY NEW FAVORITE SONG! I've played this song today alone...9Xs. Another perfect song. The chorus is amazingly catchy. Very dancey rock song love. Everything fits perfectly. Another brilliant song that has the perfect balance of screams/growls and beautiful singing. 5/5

    10. Obligation - Let me just say this off the back...I love the instrumental, but NO NO NO auto tune! I'm not one of those people who hates auto tune, but THIS band does NOT need it at all! It ruined the song for me because everything else was really good. He could have just sung the chorus normally without auto tuning. But outside of that another solid track. 3.5/5

    11. Lost Memory - Now here is a hard song where the slow down part nicely tied into the song. Not going to lie, sounds good, but not nearly one of my faves. It's missing something...not sure what it is, but it's missing something to me. 3/5

    12. Reverence - I wasn't too happy with the chorus of this song. I dunno...sounded kind of weak to me. The good thing about this band though is they know how to cover themselves really well if something doesn't really go as well (well...in my opinion)...that breakdown part was hardcore! I love breakdowns like that with just random quotes in there. Also, those really fast screaming parts! F*CK yes! Feel like this is a filler though...good filler though... 4/5

    13. Bury me - I wish on the pre chorus, he just sung it instead of having a layer of screams on it. My favorite guitar solo on the album because it's absolutely did what it's suppose to do. It really adds to this song where as I feel most of the solos on this album are appreciated but do little to add anything. Solid song. 3.5/5

    14. Pleasure of Torture - I feel like I've heard another band do this song...Bring the Horizon "Pray for Plagues" maybe? Another filler song, but decent for just head banging music. 3/5

    15. A Day to Re:member - Not going to lie...nothing grabbed me at first until 1:30 when it got really quiet...and then eerie piano mixed with AWESOME! Chorus seems a bit random though. I feel the song has been really dark and then when the chorus hits, it's like we came out the darkness to a beautiful day, but then we go back into the darkness when it ends. I'm not sure how I feel about this song though. It's far from bad, but probably my lease favorite song on the album. 3/5

Overall: 4/5 - WHAT A DEBUT ALBUM! Like seriously! Many bands CAN'T EVEN PULL THIS AMOUNT OF AWESOME even if they are on their 3rd or 4th album! Probably the most exciting musical release to be released this year for me and they didn't disappoint me at all. Little flaws here ad there just let me know the band have room to grow, but they sound immensely professional. For a first album, they've exceed a lot of other groups who are just releasing their first album! EVERYONE shines on this album too! It's not just a particular element that makes these songs strive. Everyone is an equal contributor. Love this album so much! great job! They have every reason to be proud of this!

Anyways, this album I had absolute high hopes, the highest. After fully listening to the album, I could tell that no matter what, this album would always surpass them. Everyone though that them becoming visual kei meant their sounds was going to go downhill but to me they sound exactly the same. This album was absolute top notch. Insane guitar work from Cazqui and Daichi, amazing vocals by Hiro and Natsu and Masa have their unique touch to the sound. This definitely has to be the heaviest album that is actually superb to come out this year or the last. Looking forward to their future releases and also going to wait for a top quality version of the album to show up.

I've been single for about 4 or 5 years now. I've missed out on some amazing opportunities because I made myself to busy to be in a relationship.  I've been known to ignore a girl or two in the past because of working on projects. I'm currently trying to change that. I just have really high ambition and work towards it.

Relationships are good for the soul I think especially if you find someone who motivates or inspires you to go for your dreams and brings out the best in you despite minor flaws in the relationship. A lot of people seem to have this delusion that a perfect relationship is where there is no arguments and everyone gets along all the time. Relationships are a constant working progress. You need to bump heads every now and then to let them know 1. you're an equal in the relationship with your own opinions 2. to let them know that you care. Also, if everything was all sunshines and kittens, the majority of women would get bored with it. To be honest, IMO a certain amount of drama is needed to make a relationship work otherwise, it gets boring. I'm not saying abuse or something though...thats not needed.

I can totally relate to seikun with the "unique sound" thing.
But we have actually talked about this already in a few threads, I stated my opinion about it earlier here.
I know a lot of people (such as miyuu) will disagree with my stance on this. It is correct that old bands wanted to get their hands on girls and money too- but there is still a difference in having a vk idol who looks like a crazy fucking deliquent or idiot or having a vk idol who looks like a beautiful host boy.
I am one of those people who sees old visual kei as it's very own thing, while modern visual kei has become something entirely different. Visual kei today has it's origin in the early 2000s pile of mediocre indies band thing and you can still hear a bit the influences of these band's and older visual kei, such as Luna Sea or Kuroyume, but overall the modern Vk phenomenom doesn't share that much with the older bands. Both the music and fashion were very different, let alone the concept. When in old visual kei it was more about being rebellious, punx and radical today's visual kei is more about being fashionable, beautiful or about coolness. And while older visual kei was regarded odd, strange and maybe even dangerous, modern visual kei is part of the japanese mainstream. It's still not really accepted and people dressing up visual kei are still regarded as weirdos, but there is much more acceptance and the fashion is part of japanese capitalistic fashion industry.
I am not saying, that old visual kei bands really ended up being so radical and different and anti-mainstream, because they didn't. And I mostly base my argument on Kaorus and Sigizos opinion on modern visual kei-both have the same feeling about modern visual kei having a totally different "ideology" which surrounds more about fashion and clothes. And he also feels that visual kei will drastically change to a point it can't be called visual kei anymore. It's also interesting that both are indicating that modern visual kei bands don't express themselves anymore as musicians.
Of course their opinion is very subjective, but they have been members of two very well known and big visual kei bands. And maybe the "being different and rebellious" is true- but obviously more for the early and first visual kei bands and not for those copycats, that followed afterwards.

I personally consider old visual kei to be more creative and exciting than new visual kei. And I also consider it to be an actual genre- mainly because bands from the 80s to the mid and late 90s shared a lot of musical elments. Even when a band from the 80s would sound very different than a Matina band from 1998, you can still hear and see the connection.
There have been as much terrible bands in the 90s as today- but at least I do tolerate old horrible bands more than neo Vk horrible bands. Though I think it is hard to compare their levels of terribleness because of how different the indies bands of these two eras sound.

I am honest though with my "kote kei elitism". I've got into groups like Moi dix Mois, D'espairsray and Dir en grey first so I was actually more in the 2003-2005 years of visual kei. It was easy then for me to go back in time and find a liking to older bands- but I couldn't get into any new band after 2006. I was and am still too fond of the wannabe-edgy fake-goffick punk sound and look I learned to know from Mana, Kyo, Hisui and others and the mass of oshare or brightly cute and try-hard to be sexy bands just didn't appeal to me- let alone, that I can't stand Metalcore, new-modern Emo and cheesy Electro-Rock and in conclusion I have a big issue with all this "neo Visual kei" thing. There are only a few vk bands from today I like and I am not denying that I am very prejudiced about new bands.

Like others have said, I miss old school's outfits (as I like their ridiculous hairstyles, the unbearable amount of make up, the cross dressing, the "edgy" clothes) and I miss especially the darker indie bands. As crappy as they have been, their mix of gothic (even though a lot of "hardcore-goffs" try hard to prove that old schhol visual kei has no goth in it), punk, metal and glam created the crazy sound of screeching, hypnotic, flanging guitars, with a prominent bass (an underrated Instrument I love but rarely plays an important role in neo vk or modern pop music in general), fast drumming and of course the out of tune singing, which pendles between  (lovely) crappiness, horribleness or complete insanity. I also miss the "mental insanity" topic too. I just love when the vocalist loses his mind during a song and screams, mourns and moans like an idiot. It's super cheesy, but I like it. (seriously: neo vk is also very very cheesy. Just in different ways than the old vk bands.)
I have no problem with being stuck in the past. I enjoy listening to the old bands and there have been enough artists that I can listen to and never get tired. I can understand why some old school lovers are so frustrated about modern visual kei though. I wish there would be more Kote kei bands and that it would be more known and popular. I'd wish to talk with people who like visual kei about old bands and not get a blank stare when I mention Raphael or Malice Mizer.

I am afraid we will probably never come into terms. As Arithmetica said, it is hard to define old or new visual kei. We can see their differences though, but it is not easy to say that music of this era was more deep and musically better than another. Modern Vk too has surely great artists too- it is then a matter of taste what you will like or what bands you can relate to.

@jduv86 I am not really good when it comes to give recommendations, but I try.
Now it depends what kind of music you lean towards and what genres you would be willing to like or try out. But as you seem to like "heavier" bands I would suggest the more Metal-ish or Punk-rock bands, such as Mist of Rouge, Vasalla, Velladonna, Antique Doll, The Piass, AION (okay, they might be or not vk but I will list them though) and of course Madeth gray'll.
Other bands I will recommend to check out are ROUAGE, Laputa, Luna Sea, D'erlanger, La' Mule, Aliene Ma'riage, Baiser, Deshabillz, Mirage, 90s penicillin and Pierrot.

DIVISION was a good album but because TOXIC was released a year earlier it didn't really feel that new to me at that point. Imo they should've only released DIVISON. TOXIC was a bit unnecessary if you ask me. And it kind of took away the element of surprise from DIVISION because they are quite similar sounding. I'm not saying that i didn't like these albums at all, I'm just saying that maybe they should've waited that extra year and not release TOXIC at all. If they had done that, DIVISION would've shined a lot more. I could've easily waited that one year and let them just release DIVISION. That would've been perfect imo.

Yes, they are selling a lot better now that they're with Sony (and PSC) but selling a lot of albums has also a lot to do with good marketing, which Sony provides to them.
BUT if they only release stuff from now on just to sell many albums, they will risk becoming generic and boring eventually. They should just wait another year before a new album and just release a single or two while changing their sound up a bit. Because GazettE's amazingly diverse sound is what got me hooked on them in the first place.
I still LOVE gazette tho, and they're still one of my favorite bands of all time.

As for the name 'FADELESS', well that sounds very cheesy for a band like them. I'm a bit hesitant about all this atm but it all might change as soon as we get a little preview of the single!

Madara - Uroboros definitely. I feel like that chorus part those is earlier Dir en Grey. Trying to remember what it is. Despite THIS, I LOVE THIS SONG! I feel like this is what Sadie should grow in to. The piano leads the sections and I'm in love with pianos in VK music so woot! lol. 4/5

Setsugekka - In the same style of Ice Romancer, Kagerou, Rain Fall, etc. Just as catchy and just as safe. Not a bad song, but for some reason I can't get into this as much as the other similar songs they've done. I feel like its missing something. Maybe its because I'm getting tired of listening to these kinds of songs from them. 2.5/5

Face 2 Face - I appreciate trying something different but I honestly felt this song was just too all over the place. Like a lot of it didn't match up to me. I felt they did too much with this song. I dunno...don't know...3/5 for unique attempts.

Overall: 3/5 - I think if they could take their style they used for Madara and merge it with the style of Setsugekka, they would have a perfect sound for themselves. Face 2 Face spark my interest but what too all over the place to actually make me like the song as a whole but parts were cool. Overall, Sadie continues to hold my ears whenever they release stuff. They know how to stay just above boring so I don't get tired of them. I wish they could go back to their Master of Romance period and just update that sound BUT they aren't failing with their music right now like others...::cough:::cough:::VIVID::::cough:::

Not gonna lie, this has been my favorite alice nine. single in years upon years. The sound of this single makes me think of the Alice in Wonderland EP they did like... what 6 years ago now? It's melodic and a little pop/rock and a LITTLE bit dance rock, which I always ALWAYS like. I think this one is way more memorable than any of the singles from "9" or Gemini. While both of those albums were pretty decent, they didn't hold a candle to Alpha for me and I think that if we get an alice nine. album this year, it may be on par with Alpha with a lead single like this. I'm not even ready for Shadowplay because I'm still so in love with this song.
