While everyones busy with their side projects Toshiya is dating a talent/newscaster? 【フライデー】皆藤愛子の彼氏は『DIR EN GREY』のToshiya（トシヤ）と判明か While i dont fully understand how that is a problem, in japan it seems a "scandal". Funny how the japanese see the news: the famous person here is the talent 皆藤愛子, the guy is just some random guy from a band called DIR EN GREY. Other news site write "they are a band with a sound like Babymetal, etc." But seems the talent was a former Dir bangya?

More like "you saw a photoshopped picture of ugly middleaged men and heard a CD written by ghost writers/producer and played by session musicians". Why you call the band "amazing"? Many people just have wrong images of bands and people that have seen them question their opinion. Maybe we shouldnt say "oh your opinion is irrelevant" rather than "you should see them live, they are better/worse/totally different than on CD". I've seen discussions here where people discuss certain band members look on basis of twitter pictures, weather he looks good or plastic surgery etc. I mean, when you meet the person irl you notice "how could people ever think this or that about him"? Yes, because they just read the twitter/blog posts or saw altered pictures and made ridicioulus speculations based on those. Of course you can have your opinion in your/(our) fantasy world on here, but as ryuhime said, in the big scheme it does not matter. But this probably applies to most things internet forums. But for the band as actual real people, your opinion is completely irrelevant. The opinion of the bangya that goe to the live and buy their merch is the thing they care for.

Well, i dont know what size of band we are talking about. But i would say 90% of the bands discussed here have no idea/dont care if their CDs are bought overseas. Their income comes mostly from tickets/merchandise (Cheki, cheki, cheki).. Also, surely everyone can write band xy sucks or xy is so amazing, while their bandpicture is pure photoshop, their CD recording is done by session musicians, writing by ghostwriters, etc. The oversea fans then are critizising something totally different from the actual band. But well, thats how it is. I actually dont want to sound like some elitism shit here, just raise awarness maybe, idk. Everyone critize/like/hate how they want, when you visit the actual live you notice how it doesnt matter.

I would say that especially in vk, studio albums say NOTHING, really NOTHING about the band. I've seen so many bands that were great on CD utterly bad live to the point that they could not play the most easiest riffs live. Others that i did not like on CD had amazing shows with great onstage personality. (DVD/Bluray lives dont matter to "have seen a band live" IMO). Its true that oversea fans can mostly only critize on CD sound, photoshop images, DVD, PV, etc. but its cool to see that the awarness of how bad most bands are increases due to more oversea people visiting lives in japan/more japanese people writing on here. Maybe more and more people that dont then will understand how unimportant their opinion can be (if opinios are important at all, opinions are still opinions). Just dont know whats more unimportant than an oversea fans opinion who doesnt visit their lives.

OP do you have a source for it being 11 new songs? Am i reading this (link) right, when ordering by web-shop an additional 8cm single will be included and when buying at their live another DIFFERENT 8cm single will be inlucded? The production quality and the chorus of 昨日の怖い夢。 are so dissapointing. Their last single was top-notch, but this one catches up! 発狂のカルテ was the better of the 2 imo. Guess will be great live too. This single style fits them so much better, their album and 2 minis are 90% trash with the same recycled structures and riffs over and over again, but also with 10% really amazing stuff.. Might watch them live next time if they dont play too much of that old stuff.

Since this band had 1-2 good songs so far i gave the mini a listen. Boring stuff i felt i've heard a million times done better before. Cant say i didnt expect that from them. As they always do - just random parts from other bands songs put randomly together with little to no change and mark as their own. How time flies! Im also one of those coming over from batsu roughly 10 years ago and visting nearly every single day since. Like some, i was actively writing here in the early days but went silent after/leeching and now just post once in a while. Im amazed some people are active here for the same time and im reading their posts since all these years like Ito or Saku. I didnt like that some guys changed their username so i forgot who they were but for me Ramrod, Trombe and Champ213 were legends here that unfortunatly seemed to go away, taking a huge part of this forum for me with them (miss you Trombe!). Shoutout to some guys i remember i havent seen active here anymore like Kagerou, Kuregu, Spike760, DeathlikeS, stylelover, Ichibayo, ed47a, etc. Some of the core members here left, but those who stayed aged mindly and have put the discussions to a more respectivly atmosphere imo. I think for many the glitter of vk crumbled when they realized how shitty and untalented 90% of all these hyped bands are, be it for live videos on youtube, a lot more people here going to actual lives in japan or just general increase in life experience. Its funny and a little annoying sometimes to read "newer" people hype those bands because of their photoshop pictures or ghost recorded CDs while you've seen how horrible musicians they are irl/at their live, but well. I've been there myself in the early days so let them be and have their fun - I remember the time when you could finally join the old VIP section and just saw an huge amount of (mostly shitty) rare stuff you could finally torture your ears with. What time to be alive. - I remember drama: Reviews of not yet shared CDs, stuff shared outside old VIP, stuff shared that someone bought at auctions, the person who thought she was robin hood sharing VIP stuff at LJ, etc. etc. - I remember the hardcore trolls but some seemed to get bored and left. A few stayed but they finally managed to become partly funny for me (or i just got used to it) - I remember shitty bands like Leviathan, unRuSt or brodiaea hyped to no end. The Death Gate CDs from brodiaea seemed like the holy grail. I feel while the amount of really bad bands and people hyping them decreased you really cant compare bad but well produced bands of these days (e.g. AvelCain) with how bad some were back in the days. Thanks to everyone who keeps this forum alive! Wishing for many more good times and good new bands. This!

Listening to reila, one of my favorite if not the favorite song of them, i was honestly dissapointed about the pure lack of emotion, even when it was to be expected. Especially from the vocals. For me this CD underlines what an empty shell they've become over the years on their CDs (never seen them live, so can't judge that part of the band).

Usually i find てんてん's voice difficult to stand more than 1 song (i only checked MBHI and ラッコ so far) but yesterday i stumbled over KuRt's PV for 折り畳み式おじいちゃん which i couldn't stop listening. The atmosphere reminded me of 凶の世界 and 世界はそれを見つめるしかない, the 2 songs from MBHI i liked, with remindable melodies sung by him in the chorus, a little melancholic even IMO. Any recommendations from his older bands that carry a similiar atmosphere? Usually their songs seem more cheerful or a litte chaotic i felt. I checked KuRt's other PVs but didn't like them.

Is that guy in the CM Dante Carver? Love him in the softbank commercials.

*2009 To me it sounds more like As If in the darkness (the band with that horrible It vocalist), GremlinS, etc. Bad but i like it :)) Isnt that what vk is about? You know the bands are horrible but you love them?

Vk bands these days often try "wall of death" or "circle pit", at least the vocalists often scream to the crowd of 14 yr old girls they should do. The result/attempt is so cringe worthy all the time. Also this thing where the band tells all to knee/sit down and then everyone just stands up after 1 min or so, not even jumping together or anything. Whats the point. At the DEZERT live DVD you can see one guy refusing to do and vocalist ask for his name and calls him out, haha.

Dont want to defend him/them but since i was curious, i checked with japanese friends/collegues and everyone said they didnt notice that he isnt native (from this song). They didnt know he is not when first lisenting). I dont know his other songs, so might be more obvious there. IMO Awkward are the sausages in his face (lip job?). Except for the first seconds of the chorus and the djent/rhytmig shredding parts, boring. That its technically better than your average vk doesnt matter if its still just bland boring. The intro riffs guitar effects sound so incredible cheap. Only watched to end for mustache guy. Amazing look and handsome face profile. Still, fine with me if they get "sucessful" in japan, having their 100 fans. Would be very interesting for the japanese scene. Still remember when Yohio added me and everyone on myspace when he was like 11 or 12.

Clean voice sounds like BLESSCODE, so that is bad already but the "growls" might be the worst recorded ones i've heard in vk yet. Sounds like that LIV'ERT vocalist live. Respect.

While the sample for the PV was great, im dissapointed by these. Their last 2 live distr. were already a let down but i still had hopes cause their 「奇 書」 album was/is the best release of this year so far for me, even when the production/sound quality isnt the best. 壊死懐生, best opener i've heard in years. I already preordered it some weeks ago, i hope they'll grow on me after listening fully. I wonder if there are any growls in the songs because that was by far their weakest point.

Remembering drama i just thought this one person "stealing" rare uploads in the old vip sec and sharing it on a robin hood like livejournal page and feeling like t he greatest What was the name, forgot it, something like onsen or onsu..ochinchin? Wish someone would do a wiki like knowyourmeme with knowyourvkdrama

Or how about you few years back, asking people a bazillion times here or e.g. on last.fm for uploads or rarez without ever contributing anything

Haha, we had such a thing 8 or 10 years ago, but it was just amount of posts, not useful ones, which resulted in mass spam from leechers wanting to get access

This band.. Judging from their look and logo i thought they would be totally different than they turned out. Saw them at a MEABEL event this year. What seemed to me as a wanna be cool, heavy yakuza slang talking, seemingly aggressive, 140 cm small, bad-singer vocalist "attacked" one girl in the crowd after screaming at her from the stage because she wasnt headbanging or for what reason whatsoever (was her position center or how its called, 2nd or 3rd row from the front and in the middle), kicked her bag and heavily pushed/threw her backwards. While everyone clearly saw that, not one person there did anything, not even her shocked friend standing next to her. She left, came back to grab her bag and showed middle finger to them (and fully left?). Singer clearly seemed to enjoy that. A lot of band guys jump in the crowd at the gig, but only in "a positive way" such as Dispinas vocalist happily dancing with the fans. First and only time i've ever saw such thing at an vk live (hitting amongst fans might be more common i heard). Standing last row on the side as always (being 1 head taller than everyone), i had no idea what to do/ how to react. To stand up for her i didnt know the background story enough, dont want to cause trouble as foreigner, etc. Meh. (Didnt know if this is the right place to post this).
