makes me think like DIR EN GREY will be dominating on a first day and PIERROT on a second.

I think *I THINK* that it's the other way around, based on the names of the concerts.

  2. From what I've seen and talked with fans, DIAVOLO brought them a new set of fans and they're getting a little bit more famous. EMPHASIS on little.

They are trying to play bigger venues and sponsoring events. But, their fanbase is still pretty small. Stable, yes, but small. Let's see if they can sell most of their tickets to their tour finale next month. ReNY is a bigger venue than they usually play, so it feels like a gamble. But, who knows...

The fear of disbanding always exists, but I don't think they will disband just yet.

  3. Love it! It's like 1998 all over again!  HA!

Does that mean we'll have some GAUZE-era goodness coming our way? Honestly, I doubt it, but one man can dream...

I like how the "hills" theme that the fans were calling it was kept. They should've invited Plastic Tree too, just for the hell of it.

I just wish I was there to witness it. This thing will sell out fast. Hopefully, both bands will interact with each other. Let the fans have a bit of fun with it.

These guys were such a tight band.

it got weird when Koji left and was never replaced, leaving Hiro with handling all the guitar work live. Made songs like Henseifu in particular sound kind of empty.

Yeah, that last live DVD is pretty sad. All those great songs sounded so hollow without a 2nd guitar. But at least they came back later and recorded Resurrection together. Still need to buy that box, but I WILL buy it.

Anyway, let's keep this thread for Creature Creature and all things related, then?

    It's finally here, guys!

    Pierrot - Hello

It was one of Pierrot's last songs released after they disbanded. The band was in bad terms, apparently, Kirito and Aiji could barely look at each other in the eye and their music at that time showed the lack of inspiration. Even in the PV they all seem disconnected as a band.

Not necessarily a horrible song, but dull and I have never liked certain inclination in Kirito's work for monotonous rap-like melodies to be honest.

Especially because FREEZE was surprisingly consistent and GOOD. Hell, I was listening to it today again. It sounds better today than it did back in the day.

Of course you can say Oricon is so so so terribly wrong, X have sold triple what Oricon says. But just one thing, if what you believe is true, do you think Yoshiki and all his fanatical Japanese fans would be okay with Music Station, the NO.1 television music program in Japan saying things like what I listed before?

    Yes.

If you google "オリコン アルバム 1989”, then 1900, then 1991, you will find that BLUE BLOOD sold 188 thousand copies + in 1989, 378 thousand + in 1990, not in the top 100 since 1991

    1.5m is highly unrealistic.

Although I don't know how Billboard Japan works, Oricon numbers are not cryptic, nothing but physical CDs they have sold, only a bit lower than the actual numbers if we're talking about albums or singles which have dropped out from the weekly top 100 (top 300 since 2002), or if we're talking about the likes of AKB48 whose core fans could buy 100+ copies of a single (It seems even if you buy 1000 copies, Oricon would only count them as something like 50 or lower, but I'm not familiar with idol groups, so can't be certain)

    https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/BLUE_BLOOD

    Check the japanese wiki page.

And オリコン is unreliable for old releases and stops updating the sales number after a while (maybe when it drops from the top 500 charts?). Only JASRAC or RIAJ can help you, then. And RIAJ takes fucking forever to update the sales too. It's not uncommon to see an album being certified years after achieving the Gold Disc Certification, which is the first award you can get.

But hey, that info was printed in an old magazine (forgot which one). I'm pretty sure the magazine would have verified their source back then.

  8. I remember reading over 15 years ago that the original BLUE BLOOD album had sold over 1,5m copies. And that was in 2002, before the reeditions and remasters. For that reason, I actually trust the 30 million mark. Japan is incredibly cryptic about sales numbers.

  9. Ugh... 5 Seconds of Summer?! No, thank you.  I wish them all the best and I hope they achieve whaever the hell they want to achieve abroad. But you gotta draw the line somewhere and having  ALL TIME FUCKING LOW, WASHED UP AVRIL (NOT EVEN DUMB FUN LET GO-ERA, AVRIL) and 5 Seconds of Summer all together means I'm out. They won't miss me, for now atleast. but call me back when ONE OK ROCK bombs and decide to celebrate the 10th anniversary of BEAM OF LIGHT or ゼイタクビョウ.

Wait... Shit, ゼイタクビョウ IS TEN YEARS OLD ALREADY. Ok, I'll wait for the 20th anniversary, then.

And I really agree with this part:

I'm happy for them if this is their thing, it's not often we see a band of a language other than English make it into the market but at the same time it really sucks because of what they had to give up in order to do so, to be successful you have to tick boxes, the more you appeal to the masses you appeal less to the individual. It's easy to make something that thousands will like but harder to make something that hundreds will love and I suppose at the end of the day you need to ask yourself which matters more.

Integrity doesn't pay the bills but being completely broke totally beats than having FIVE SECONDS OF SUMMER on your record.

  10. Engrish sometimes can be great, but ゴールデンボンバー, out of all bands, kind of summed up my feelings about it with this song.

    英語ってかっこいいなかっこいいな ah!ah!
    英語ってかっこいいな
    英語で歌えばまるで最新の洋楽みたいだな
    Hello Ken
    Hello Kuni
    Hello Tom

That being said, I'd take a new Kagrra, any day. Neither Wagakki Band or Kiryu come close to what Kagrra, once was. They were an one-of-a-kind band, even during their heavily criticized major period.

Yeah both bands are ok, but their style is so very different and generally IN YOUR FACE all the time. Kagrra, had a different feel and an elegance to it. I wish more bands tried going for that. PLUS, the whole japanese sound thing makes it easier to appeal to a wider audience abroad, who WANTS to listen to something EASY BREEZY, JAPANESE-Y with a rock edge.

    - they will hold an Anniversary Special Live in September

    - they will hold their annual THE DAY IN QUESTION gig on 2017/12/23, and then a special two-day one on 12/28-29

-this will also be preceded by a domestic tour from October (if I'm understanding it correctly)

I'm def. going to one of these!

  13. Do you guys consider album deep cuts as b-sides? I always separated between the two.

B-sides are part of singles (or released first in a single)  and album songs are album songs, and L'Arc~en~Ciel has plenty of amazing deep cuts throughout the albums. Even in their current sucky incarnation.
