If it's in both there's no need for all that work now, since we know where it comes from! The sound chip or onboard DAC between the two systems may be the culprit. The one where you can hear it must be of a higher quality or something.

I'd like to ask for your help, because I'm out of ideas right now. I've been building my music library for a lot of years, always aiming for good quality rips. 320kbps mp3 and 256kbps VBR AAC are good enough for me, so I'm usually not looking for lossless. However, there are some albums that can't be find in good quality mp3 or AAC - it's either FLAC or a bad transcode. In these cases, I usually download the FLAC files, convert them to ALAC (because FLAC is not supported by iTunes) with a tool called "Bigasoft Audio Converter", put the ALAC files in iTunes, then convert them to AAC. I thought this method was safe to use, because I've been told there's no quality loss when converting from lossless to lossless.
 
Today I've been listening to a 12012 album ("mar maroon") I previously converted from FLAC to ALAC then AAC, and suddenly realised there was some kind of noise at the beginning of track 2 ("DNA") that shouldn't have been there. At first, I thought the original FLAC file was corrupted, but when I opened it, I couldn't hear any noise. Made another ALAC file, and it was there again. Then I downloaded another tool ("Mediahuman Audio Converter") hoping for a different result, but it gave me the same noisy ALAC file. Even made a WAC conversion, and that couldn't help either.
 
My question is: do you think there's some kind of problem with this specific FLAC file, or it's something else? I'm worried that the method I've been using for years isn't as safe as I thought. The noise itself isn't that bad, but I really don't want to look through my whole library just to realize other files have the same (or worse) problem. If it helps, the FLAC file I'm talking about was previously uploaded here at MH by mucc6 (who was generous enough to share almost the whole 12012 discography in lossless - thanks a lot for that!), and I believe the same rip can be find at JPopsuki. Anyway, I've uploaded this specific track in FLAC and ALAC for those who are willing to check it:

It's right at 0:00 in the ALAC file. Maybe you won't notice it at first, but I believe it can easily be heard if you listen closely.

Ten years ago today, Spike760 and myself decided that we wanted to start a Japanese Rock forum. After a while of debating, we eventually settled on Tainted World (after the D’espairsRay song of the same name). Frankly, neither one of expected it to last all that long; this would hardly be the first forum that we had run together that didn’t go anywhere. But what started as a fun little project somehow blossomed into an amazing community. The fact that this site still exists after all this time has little to say about Spike and my’s original plan and everything to say about the members here. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping build this site into what it is today.
 
While I was one of the key founders of this site, Monochrome Heaven is so much bigger than just me. That became clear to me when we went under the transition from Tainted World to our current name back in 2011. While to really understand why this is so important requires more context, I don’t want to go into a full on history lesson. But since that point, so many members have stepped up and dedicated themselves to this site, putting in the time and effort (and money) into making Monochrome Heaven as great as it possibly can be.
 
To every member that has joined and felt like they were apart of a community over this silly niche interest we all have, I raise a glass to you. You all are what have made this place special. And to every staff member, current and past, no words can express my thanks to you - you are people that I have come to admire and consider good friends.
 
But this post isn’t about me, but about the Monochrome Heaven! I want to hear from all of you as to why this community is special, why you’ve becoming coming back for 10 months or 10 years. Or tell us one of your favorite moments from your time coming, whether that was a release you were looking for forever or a stupid meme that took over the forum.

Btw, I'm not sure if it's an old info or not, but it seems like there will be 2 different editions of this album. The edition listed in the OP will be sold in Japan only. The worldwide edition will be relesed 2 days later (2017.1.13) and will have a semi-different tracklist and album cover:
 
 

The album you are referring to is just a 2nd press of SM, but they're also releasing another collection called SM #2 (see tracklist in the original post) that contains every single since SM. I don't see why they should add everything to SM, but even if they did, it would be much more expensive. So if someone wants all their singles, they can just buy both collections instead.
