Finally got around to watching the first season with a buddy and i would have to say it wasn't as bad as i thought it was, rather decent actually. I could watch it again if I had too

Wasn't too big on INFERIORITY COMPLEX nor EXODUS, but I did like LIGHTNING and BALLAD and since I guess these two will be most probably on the album, I'm curious to see what it'll bring.

Yeah, their album covers lost their creativeness when they went Major. Yume was a bright band shot, Blue was a band shot, as well as FAKE. The single they released before REAL had the worst ones yet with the really crappy photoshop on it

"Back to basics". That definition was spot on. This is exactly what I'd expect the love-child of NIL and SR to be. Usually their music is nothing what they say it's gonna be, but for the first time ever, they gave us what they promised.
 
I do agree with people that they've forgotten how to make memorable melodies. The whole album was very well done and sounds like they really put some effort in there, but "The Hook" is missing. That said, I do like this album. Much better than Division. I honestly don't remember a single song from that and have found zero reasons to go back at it, despite listening to it several times. Can't say it's better than Toxic because this is so different. Toxic had amazing single-songs, but everything around them pretty much sucked. This one lacks any of those supersongs like Pledge and Vortex, but there's not a single song here that I would call shit, except for maybe Fadeless.
 
I can't pick any favorites, it's all quite decent. Redo is something they haven't done since SR and I've really missed that since I really like those chilly rock-songs. I'm sure that was composed by Kai. Though I hated how Loss almost had an awesome solo, but then it just ended! Fuck you guys. And I have to agree with most people here; Coda is the best tune of the album. It sounded like some intro of a folk metal song, with gaze-style. They could've done some great things with that, but then again, atleast they didn't screw it up.
 
Someone said that they'd like Gazette more with a different vocalist. I think that sums up pretty well the case of Gazette. Imagine if this album was made by some american newcomer-band with a great vocalist as their first album. I'm pretty sure they'd be fucking praised. But this is the Gazette, this is the VK-scene, they've been around for a decade and released way too many songs in their career that it all just blends together to some weird deformity where only a few gems stand out. But I guess it's still quite a beautiful deformity. (SEE WHAT I DID THAR)

There are some very silly comparisons going on in here. I wouldn't go as far as to imply that this is somehow a bunch of different Dir en grey songs rolled into one (a 20 second sample does not give you that good of an impression to make that judgement); but I will say that it doesn't interest me much. I'm sure they're going to do their thing and it'll be fine; but as per everything we've heard as of late, this song isn't that much different in sound -- Kaoru and Die strum some chords in the chorus, to which Kyo does some vocal melody over -- wash, rinse, and repeat.

I adored their singles earlier this year a lot. Looking forward to the new music, it's gonna be great!

^ personally, his growls are kind of cool and they add some heaviness to their music that the instrumentations can't, but the growls in this song sound very hollow and echo-y and I don't like it. Sounds like those vocals were badly produced

I wasn't expecting felony to make an appearance at the end of the PV mashup.

After digging around for a bit, and with the help of Linh, I've formulated a theory that they're breaking up because of money issues. Turn-A sounds like a last-ditch effort to re-record old A songs and then sell them to make some emergency cash. The low quality and poor reception of those CDs put the nail in the coffin for this band.
 
It's sad but VK is expensive and as much as I liked them they never got the push they needed to really make it.

Also Nimo, if you're lurking now would be the time to jump in. Tell us you're going to form a new band "B" or something. Anything pls.
 
EDIT: Also Linh makes another good point. They all die at the end of this music video. That supports my theory even more.

I was hoping that they would finally come up with something that's at least 20% the quality of their first 3 or 4 singles - then I saw that this too is slated to be an anime opening, lol.

It depends on what you want to do with that pokemon. The point is to emphasize certain stats for whatever role you plan on using it. For example, if you want someone to be a support-ish mon, you'd probably pick someone more naturally tanky and EV train it in def, sp. def, and speed so it can have a fighting chance at going first or at least be able to not be 1 hit ko'd by everything. 
 
Sweepers are the opposite: you want them to focus in whatever attack attribute they're strongest* in and their speed, so you should probably pick something naturally fast like Gengar, Zoroark, Blazekin, Infernape, that stupid centipede thing, etc. Since they're probably always going to hit first, they need to pack enough of a punch to actually beat things before taking damage because 9/10 times they're glass cannons and pretty much looking at them for too long will cause them to faint. They typically hold a focus sash for that reason.
 
Some things can't fill certain roles no matter how you train them. Shuckle is never going to be a mixed sweeper. Alakazam is never going to be a tank. Charizard will never make a good support.
 
 
 
*strongest typically means whichever attack stat is higher, but sometimes you can get away with choosing the weaker stat if the move pool is 1000x better (Greninja) or if they can actually pull off mixed sweeping (Lucario).
