I haven't listened to full albums by either band, but judging purely on the anime themes I've heard by both, I gotta go with MtH. Fear in loathing is a bit grating for me.

I like the new song. Agreed. I don't think bands necessarily need to change or evolve their sound to remain engaging - but it's the nuances, the small things, the attention to detail that can make a huge difference for me.

第五作品集『無題』 is easily my favorite album of theirs, and one of my favorite albums in general. My listening habits tend to be more track-based than album-based, but 5th is one of those albums that I feel I can actually appreciate as a complete work. The soundscape and general aesthetic of that album is painted so viscerally that I can't help but be drawn into it and completely feel immersed by it. Even the songs I didn't enjoy initially grew on me with time (tracks 3, 4, and 10 especially). Favorite songs include "時雨前", "春と修羅", "雨の犬", "燦", and "椿" from 5th, "暗闇と賛歌" and "サンキュー来春" from 4th, and "黒い雨" from 2nd. Though admittedly, I've spent way less time with the first four albums. The clammbon track they covered is also pretty awesome. Definitely looking forward to the 6th album. I can't imagine it being any less than a masterpiece at this point!

Pleasantly surprised to see stuff like めめ and ゑでぃまぁこん mentioned since you don't see acts like this brought up very often. " EGO-WRAPPIN' AND THE GOSSIP OF JAXX" I also wanted to include, but I went with "merry merry" since we could only do one album per artist - and I can't really choose between the two! @indigo - also fantastic picks. I FREAKING FORGOT TO INCLUDE OWARIKARA!! Was going to include "door tachi", but apparently I got mixed up somewhere along the way and forgot about it. fffffff. I didn't include THE BACK HORN, but if I did, THAT would be the album!!! SuiseiNoboAz, jinmenusagi, Boris, Merry, EVISBEATS...the list of goodies is endless. @hiroki- I think the only album i've listened to from yours is DIV's "zero one". Gonna miss those guys! @plastic_rainbow- very nice list. I wanted to include three releases by THE NOVEMBERS too, haha! "to (melt into)" is would DEFINITELY be in my top too! @beni & @doombox - also great lists! I was gonna make mine in a similar fashion at first, but then changed my mind. 100 is a bit more restraining than I thought it would be - now that I finished, i'm remembering all the stuff I forgot to include. XD Maybe I'll do another in the future, so I can go ham with all the different releases I love by the same artists too. Really cool to see everyone's respective tastes!

I've never heard of this band, but they sound pretty decent! Vaguely reminds me of blgtz!

Well, this was pretty frustrating to put together! I decided to go with the one-album-per-artist rule afterall, but I cheated by not ranking any of these (that would take way too long for me). Everything here consists of albums and EPs only, but there are some great singles, soundtracks, splits, and compilations I would have liked to include too. There are some things I couldn't fit in and I'm seeing now that I forgot about some stuff too lol. oh well! It's funny because I realized when making this that I'm much more of a "song person", as in I tend to listen to specific songs far more than I do full albums. I often just make playlists of songs/albums with a particular mood/style and just shuffle them, but I digress. This has been a fun little introspective exercise. I've noticed that a lot of albums I filed away in my brain as 'favorites', like "The Rose God Gave me" by SADS, or "DIM" by the gazettE, have not really grown with me throughout the years. I also noticed that there are many bands that I enjoy a ton of songs from, yet those songs are all scattered throughout the band's discography and there are no albums that I could consider a favorite - THE BACK HORN and sleepy.ab are examples of this. As mentioned above, there is no ranking here -> everything is roughly in alphabetical order! There we are. One day I would like to make a more detailed list with no restraints, but this was a daunting enough task by itself!. Fun tho!
