DeithX252 reacted to relentless in The "Please Explain the Hype" Thread
That's part of the charm, isn't it? What pushed BABYMETAL into such a debated status was because of their gimmick: J-Pop vocals and dance choreography performed over different "genres" of extreme metal. Some people may enjoy the metal aspects, some may enjoy the J-Pop vocals, or others may just be listening to them BECAUSE they're ridiculous. The review posted in the BABYMETAL thread (or the BABYMETAL tour thread, can't remember) touched on it that there were all of these different kinds of people with different interests in music coming together to experience BABYMETAL. That's a large part of the charm, the experience of witnessing something so novel.
Now, this isn't to say they lack talent overall, their musicians are excellent; but the one thing that tends to be a constant in fan's appreciation is the recognition of the gimmick and the experience of seeing them live. The band Ghost (or, in the States, Ghost B.C.) is in a similar light where their popularity soared because of their live production, and people began latching on from there when more and more began to appreciate their music and not just the novelty of seeing dudes dressed as Satan Worshippers.
Whether this craze is going to last or not is something else entirely, though.

I have listened to entire album, and only few songs that I like (yeah because Yuyoyuppe compose these few songs, I am a big fan of him).
Compared to doujin music that have similar mix (heavy and kawai), they are much better IMO lol

Sorry for any mistakes, I still don't speak Japanese.
I also corrected some Engrish, except for grammar, just the "typos".
If you want the true Engrish awesomeness, consider the source.

DeithX252 got a reaction from sai in CD prices: VK vs. non-VK
this is what I think when I notice that VK cds are usually more expensive than non VK indies. Well, full album usually priced 3000 yen for VK (regular ed), no matter if they are indie or major. Non VK indies full album usually priced around 1800-2500 yen. This can't be generalized as I mention before, but I think VK is an expensive industry, with glamour costume and pricey CDs, I assume they are just want more money

DeithX252 got a reaction from Tetora in THE JAPANESE INDIE THREAD
nice post CAT5 and mitsu, lol in the past day I explored some female singer songwriter and want some recommendation, thanks for the bump up 8D
oh and for japanese indies, I think I need a community who have high enthusiast to discuss indie band/artist, seems like the last fm group didn't active anymore. It so hard to find these kind of community, and for a people like me who can't explore any newcomer indie artist for myself, I think it's a good idea if we gather the people with same interest into one community
and last fm artist page sometimes can be nice place to discuss the artist XD

DeithX252 reacted to CAT5 in My Opinion on Nocturnal Bloodlust`s Recent Remarks and Actions against `Piracy`
I agree with what nekkichi was hinting at...They simply need to update their strategy and adapt to the times. Hell, the entire music industry does. Piracy isn't going anywhere - whenever you find a way to stop it, pirates will find another way around it - that's how it's always been and it's useless to fight against the vicious cycle. So I think artists/bands need to find ways to make piracy work to their advantage. It's a very optimistic approach, but it's also a realistic one because it doesn't allow something as inevitable and immovable as piracy to hinder success.
There are Japanese indie bands touring Canada right now. Why? Because of piracy. In fact, had I not bought uchuu combini's mini album and shared it with my friends (aka pirated their album), they would not be touring Canada right now. Why? Because one of my online friends just happens to be a rich dude who's passionate enough about Japanese indie to pay for/host entire tours out of his own pocket.
Granted, most instances of piracy are not as serendipitous as this one. But I also think it's completely useless to lament the cons of piracy, as you'll simply limit yourself in the long-run. It's much more effective to focus on solutions rather than problems.

^
They're all good shows. Skip the tv version of the first Gundam and watch the movie trilogy instead. After you watch Zeta, you'll hate the first 16+ eps of ZZ because of its sudden change of tone but it gets a lot better as the series progresses. Victory Gundam is a very slow watch in the first half and it's overall the most depressing Gundam series with the amount of casualties in almost every ep. it's also the longest tv series running at 51 eps, so this will be more of a chore for you than Turn A. When watching Turn A Gundam, expect this to be more of a character driven show than action.
Visit this site for more Gundam info. http://www.mahq.net/animation/gundam/gundam.htm
I recommend listening to their podcast as well!
