Whoa, like an actual good movie. Not the B movie nonsense that was Gackt's film.

I hope it's a super serious gritty war movie and the theaters end up full of squealing fangirls.

TheBistroButcher666 got a reaction from CAT5 in What do (or did) your parents listen to?
My Dad listened to Deep Purple because he was a Highway Staaaaarrrrrrrr!
No serious, imagine all the fake ghetto Asians with hard working fob parents driving in their beat up ricers that you us see now. Just replace ricer with a 1964 American muscle car blasting Sabbath, Dio and Deep Purple and that was my Dad.
He and my Mom still listens to all that stuff along with other hippy rock like Jefferson Airplane and Iron Butterfly.
So I grew up in a house full of that stuff and I think that kinda solidified my taste in rock music. I mean there's lots of other factors too, Seattle grunge explosion made it obligatory to like grunge rock etc but I really think my parents had a lot of influence.
That said, I like the stuff my parents like. Some tunes makes me remember my Mom driving us kids in our old GMC Hornet to the park and hearing Simon and Garfunckle and long drives into the mountains to camp and listening to that same Deep Purple album the whole trip. So basically gross old people music Ahhh!!

A lot of members here listen to black metal, should we make an entire section of the forum dedicated to black metal? I know it's not Japanese but neither is Korean, it's also metal which is more related to rock than pop music.
Basically that's the argument I'm seeing for Kpop.

What kind of database are you using? Relational database?? CAN I QUERY THE SHIT OUT OF IT?!?!!?!?
It would be cool to do end of year statistics on how many new bands formed and how many broke up.
WOULDN'T THAT BE COOL?!? Then make pie charts and graphs and all that pretty shit.

Most Western GAKKIDO fans didn't give two shits about that band until the vocalist died. Then suddenly everyone was like OH MY FUCKING GOD! And had to jump on the tragedy bandwagon. I remember a lot of the VK groups I lurked on Livejournal never had any topics about that band but when they had that accident, suddenly requests for music, scans, blog translations. Now I'm not saying they didn't have any western fans but it was considerably noticeable how their fanbase on the internet ballooned after the news of the car accident.

RIP whatever his name was but the internet scramble to be the biggest GAKKIDO stan was gross.

I tried looking up Of Mice and Men and all I got was results to some dumb book!!

But seriously dude, it's better to just post two or three artists and talk about the artist and what they do. Try not to overwhelm people with a whole lotta stuff and dumb lists all at once because no one ain't got time for that.

Inspired from a similar thread on another board and when I say inspire I really mean just copying their idea.

The idea of the thread is to encourage sharing music and just sharing your enthusiasm for a certain artist you are really into. Try to avoid just spamming YouTube links with shitty little one liners about the VK boys being kawaii or dis song is so bruutal. This topic should not be like in this thread and should promote discussion. It doesn't have to be VK/Japanese either since I know a lot of us listen to tunes outside of Japan.
      Band Name:
You must write a description of the band and what you find enjoyable/interesting/terrible/whatever about them. Try to really show what they’re about, what their sound is like, what artists they are influenced by/have influenced or some other means of describing their music.

Money trouble or not, I still think the whole "if you don't buy our shit we will disband and that will make you hopefully regret to have not come to our lives" is shitty and immature. There are a lot of bands in visual kei and other genres who are broke as hell and they don't need to use this stupid marketing strategy.

TheBistroButcher666 reacted to stylelover in Why is it that digital releases are not used that often by Japanese bands?
i already wrote that in another thread, but one of the reasons is the cd price law. if you have any japanese cds you should look at the cds. the price is always inprinted into the cd case not just a price tag on the cd like in the US and europe. theres a law thats protecting cd prices.
so given the high cd prices they have right now, its really common that many japanese labels dont really want to put the stuff at amazon.co.jp, bandcamp , itunes etc. because the price between digital purchases and the real cd prices are so different.
in US thats not really important as albums are usually like 8,99 or 9,99 digitally and the physical copy just a bit more.
so as they cant change the price of digital purchases (250 at itunes for example) they would lose money if people (especially japanese people) only buy from amazon or itunes instead of buying the real copies. a album is usually around 2400 yen at itunes and more than 3000 physically

I agree nothing will stop people from sharing. I just really disagree and hate the mentality that people who don't create things expect artists to do it for free.

I do wish there was more discussion about music. I feel like that's one area sorely lacking on MH. The only artist topics that seem to stay afloat is the Dir en grey circlejerks.

How many people are listening to KAMIJO's and Jupiter's new release yet there's barely any discussion regarding the actual releases. Except for a few posts in a review thread, it's pretty sad. I guess can always troll the Last.fm page but trying to have a discussion in the shoutbox is a joke.

Those blogs are partially the reason I don't share. I don't want to be associated with all those reposts all over Google. I listen to mostly small indies bands and these guys probably Google themselves so seeing their latest release the second or third result on Google probably doesn't make them very happy.
I have shared older indies kote kei stuff which probably ended up on Evil en Lucifer but I don't mind. Those bands broke up over a decade ago, their material out of print and are long forgotten. So those items being reposted don't bother me, but I would prefer it be reuploaded.
I think once one of those blogs sniped my hosted image so I replaced it with Goatsees and they had that on their front page for a day or two. That was hilarious.

Of course I was curious for this full album. "Blessing of the Future" was really a slap in the face-instrumental powerful song so hell yeah I was excited. This album is above my expectations, it's really good! And ZIN, was not sure about him but yeah that guy can definitel sing power metal songs.

Instrumental members of Versailles is better off without KAMIJO, and KAMIJO is better off in a solo project = WIN/WIN situation.

Best song is "forever with you" I really love this ballad. And of course "Blessing of the Future" is so good, although I don't get the "REMIX" thing, what's the difference between album version and single version? Mastering?

Yeah, this is not another "Versailles"-album, this is brand new and fresh! They did this good.
