Live limited is just the best way to sell something without having everything eaten up by distribution costs. Especially when you're a self funded no name indie band like La'veil.

Well DIE KUSSE it isn't just because there's female vocals. The rift, the song structure, the R&B hiphop opening and just the whole thing is basically pulling a Grieva. DIE KUSSE is the most obvious but other similarities lie with songs like Worms and My Devil on my Bed. I know the dude likes Ruki and is inspired by them which is cool, everyone is inspired by something or someone. Yet when people deny they don't "borrow" heavily from Gazette must be in denial, it's like Grieva fans denying Grieva and their redo of every Gauze era song ever. I'm still waiting for my single to come :C Yet I know I'll like it but I'm also looking forward to Kamijo's solo. I agree with your sentiments towards him and his performance in Versailles. I mean in some songs he was fine but he really brought down their music and just didn't fit with the kinda music Versailles performed. I think his solo material will be great, especially since he's teaming up with fellow Frenchaphile vampire Mana, it'll definitely be something cool. Which leaves HIZAKI and Teru to go off and do all the cool things I love about them. So basically we got two good releases coming up, why is everyone so bitchy about it?

I agree, I say the same about Dir en grey as well. If you're a fan of visual kei, you need to at least listen to Dir en grey. Whether you're an oweld skewel fan, an indies only fan or just a general fan of Visual Kei. Dir en grey's influence on Visual Kei is just undeniable. Blocking them out of your life you're doing yourself disservice because you are failing to see how this one band really shapes Visual Kei into what it is today. And at the end of it all, if you don't like Dir en grey that's fine. Yet not listening to them because you dislike the fans or being too mainstream is a really bad reason to avoid this band or any band for that matter. I'll just leave this and this here. Unfortunately I cannot find the article and I won't do it any justice paraphrasing it. Yet there's an interesting study that talks about this very thing you're bringing up. Basically it all falls back to some embedded survival mechanism in all human beings. However since we're no longer that paleo hunter gathering society. It's sort of lost relevance to our survival but the instinct still exists. So now in a society that basic needs can be met the only thing to make you the alpha of the herd is holding exclusive information others do not have. God damn it I wish I could find it but it's a great and fascinating read. It basically breaks down and explains this psychological need for people to hoard and retain exclusive knowledge and it's part of exerting your dominance to the herd. Since you can't just beat up the other guy for that stick of meat or tell your bestest buddies your secret location that has all the sweet food only you and a few get to eat. Instead it's over more useless petty things like music and TV and anime and whatever. I mean, it also details about how in current society, information is so easily accessed, that people also have this drive to find rarer and more difficult knowledge to obtain. I have to run but I'll see if I can dig through hundreds of useless Facebook and Twitter posts of mine to see if I can find it. Yet the whole thing is pretty cool.

    Will buy photo set.
  5. TheBistroButcher666

I feel like Mejibray is that band that all the Gazette haters love because they can finally listen to Gazette songs without losing their indie street cred.
  6. TheBistroButcher666

I agree Ayame is pretty useless other than being an extra pretty face for the girls. Cuz I'm like, what does he even do? All that synth can easily just be done in studio and prerecorded for lives.
  7. TheBistroButcher666

Madeth gray'll Shit son, I don't even need the band back. Just Yukina (and I guess Hisui) since they wrote most of the songs anyway. They can just come back as ghost writers and just write. Just something that can capture that atmosphere and style because Madeth was really one cool and unique band that really created a sound all their own. Aliene Ma'riage Oh come on Kyouka, you're still living in the past so just stop doing whatever you're doing to cause all your bands to fall apart and just reform Aliene. You know you want to do it LOL. Aliene like Madeth certainly built a style, sound and atmosphere all their own. However honestly, perhaps it was a good thing Aliene fell apart because I suspect that they were probably running out of steam towards the end. Could they really be able to keep up their chaotic and maniac style for long term? So perhaps come back but not as Aliene because I think returning as Aliene may end up being a let down. OMG I DONT THINK IM DOING THIS TOPIC SUBJECT RIGHT :C Eliphas Levi and Deshabillz Basically just tossing them together but they have excellent songs so basically I would be more interested in the main composers coming back and recreate that style and sound. Rest of the members are interchangeable. La'Mule OH WAIT :U Anyway, another question to ask is even if these bands came back. Could they really recreate the style and sound that we all loved about them? Will they end up like Lin, some funky and bad Phantasmagoria reboot that just left people disappointed (is egged by Lin fans).
  8. TheBistroButcher666

    Awwww yeah!
  9. TheBistroButcher666

Are they the mystery band maybe?
  10. TheBistroButcher666

Just saw that today in IMAX at the Science Center. While plot wise it wasn't anything super amazing it still was giant robots beating the shit out of giant monsters. AWESOME! There's some things I didn't like and I think this movie would have been better off as a mini series of some sort but ehh, I say that about a lot of things actually haha. Just felt there was some gaps in characters and so forth, I wanted to know more about the other pilots but their roles were so limited. Spoilers I guess my complaint is we had a cool robot from China and some cool lookin robot from Russia and they die so quickly. Awwwww! The ending should have been like an epic battle with all four robots and then those two could die in the final fight to make it more dramatic. MORE ROBOTS AND MORE MONSTERS! One big fight of epic robotic monster smashing fun! Oh well, I mean it was still cool BUT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER! GO BIG OR GO HOME DEL TORO! Ohhh and we all agreed that Miko or Mako or Maru or whatever her name is, was boring and basically played the gross fetishized western image of a Japanese women.
  11. TheBistroButcher666

Haha that is undoubtedly one thing you see a lot among owld skewl fans. I like old bands but I have enough sense to know that they're terrible and was an indie no name loser band that broke up after releasing their demo tape for a good reason. Now I like it though and I'll love it till the day I die but I'm not going to lie to myself or trap myself in a bubble thinking that old school VK was the be all end all of VK music. A theory of mine is that, basically Goths love to bitch and moan about how true and gothic they are. I think a lot of old school fans are basically your traditional goth and are drawn to old school VK since it deals more with heavy gothic aesthetics. So combining old school VK with self conscious image centric goths you find yourself with the old school fans parading around that 90s VK was the best and most legit VK ever. Oh jeez, especially among VK fans is the worse. I don't care for Gazette but I have a friend who is incredibly sweet and an amazing person who fucking loves Gazette like no other. If I disliked her simply because she liked a band I'm not fond of, I would be a sad person and missing out on a wonderful friendship. A good example is the Kamijo / Jupiter teams that are forming. Seriously people? It's okay if you don't like Jupiter but other people do or it's okay if people like Kamijo and you don't. Who cares, listen to what you want and TEAM JUPITER! FUCK YAAAL JUPITER 4 LYFE >:U

Just look at Dir en grey's similar artists on Last.fm, all VK bands harharhar. I mean come on, Sadie is a VK band correct? Rentrer en Soi was also a VK band right? Yet they all had vocal training from Kyo or give credit to Kyo personally working with their vocalist to hone their vocal technique. To say that Dir en grey has no connection to VK is hogwash. Just search bandmen blogs and you'll find a post here and there with Toshiya or Kaoru hanging out back stage at some tiny little VK dive gig. Like I dunno, Kaoru and KISAKI chillin. So basically I agree that Dir en grey is still VK-ish. They certainly don't dress up anymore and are very casual but their connection to VK is still there, though more or less indirect. __ My controversial opinion is that VK fans don't care about the music. Okay, that statement is more of a joke but there's still some truth behind it. Just face it, most of us were drawn to VK because of how flashy and colorful it is. A lot of us were originally anime fans and VK is basically anime IRL almost. The guys are so colorful, so outrageous looking and are essentially a fantasy character. So it's easy to get into VK when anime was your gateway. That's why I think cosplaying bands, RPing as bandmen and writing fanfiction is so common because that's something that is done in the anime fandom. So seeing it among VK fans really doesn't surprise me and why I don't think it's a bad or weird thing either. So basically when someone claims they don't care about the image at all, yet have entire Last.fm profile full of nothing but VK I call bullshit. There is absolutely no way you don't care about the looks. It's why almost all of us are here in the first. And you know what? Who the fuck cares if that's what drew you in and is your main reason for sticking around. Trying to get on your high horse and claim you are better than everyone else because you don't masturbate to Kamijo every night is more obnoxious and worse than the girls that admit they get off every night to fanart picture of Kamijo molesting HIZAKI. Anyway, I'm in a hurry and on my phone. I don't think I really explained myself that clearly. I don't mean to say we all want to fuck bandmen but we're all still vane and pretentious so get over yourself and accept that you are just as superficial as the rest of the VK fandom. Deal with it.

I prefer to avoid listening to music if I am studying or reading, anything that requires actual mental work to retain information I try to avoid music. There are times like say I'm on the metro or there's a lot of noise around me, I'll plug in headphones but that's to tune out those distractions so I can read. If I do put on music, it'll be instrumental work or something that isn't the usual Matina garbage or kvlty metal shit I like since that will distract me. Though there are exception like the atmospheric kvlty metals that are 20 minute long songs of forest noise and some screeching here and there. That stuff is fine.
  14. TheBistroButcher666

It's possible that the recording of the concert is to be used as promotional clips for the convention for future events. The Moi Dix Mois and Exist Trace shows were filmed at Sakuracon but the person explained that the footage was only to be used for future promotional videos for Sakuracon and isn't going to be released.
  15. http://youtu.be/5m6wITikDMM Here is Jet Set Gypsies, the guy in red is kinda awkward. I could like them more but I think the random inserted Japanese feels out of place and silly. Come on just sing in English please (or whatever your native tongue is). Yet they're not so bad, frilly gawffic stuff that isn't so painfully weeaboo-ish...well except those Japanese lyrics. As for the stuff posted above ~ Make Silent Dust Japanese and people would love it. Basically reminds me of something Yuuga would have done in his DEViL KiTTY days. Oh I've seen Visual Moon before, fucking terrible. Basically over produced garbage with a bunch of phantom writers stuffing every trend into a song. Also I like Abaddon, awful name choice since there's like 600 different Abaddons out there but I like that song. Digging the gawffy rock / black metal fusion. Basically the clean vocals are like something you'd hear out of some post punk goth band and with some black metal up in this bitch which is cool. That PV is unintentionally funny and hard to watch.
  16. TheBistroButcher666

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. Active and Visual Kei only? I don't listen to a ton of music these days though :C CELL is the only real band that I am following. Oh boy! I have the live DVD coming in the mail! Now that PV DVD WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!? Ugh, I don't know who thought that was a good idea but guys seriously please stop. Zig Zag: I fucking love Zig Zag but I haven't listened to their new album, it's kinda annoying to buy so I've been putting it off. Like using a shopping service or asking my buddy to grab it and all that. Ru:natic: Oh boy they're finally releasing something with songs I've heard already thanks to Peace ripping the tracks off YouTube <3 Grieva: I was liking these guys but after this last mini, if their next release is just redone Dir en grey songs I'm going to just stop bothering with them. About a day after owning their mini I was bored and rather just listen to the better original Dir en grey songs. Vallquar: I thought an album was going to be released but I haven't heard much regarding that since it was annouced. Oh well, that's why we have Vampire Rose. Vampire Rose: Oh boy! Cheesy dumb vampire gothic indie trash. Gotta love it! At least we get Vallquar songs without Hikari's awful vocals! Gauzes: Pretty sure they're going to disbanned soon. OH BOY TALK ABOUT TR00 VKKK KVLT! Release album and break up! Lulu: I thought Taa OD'd but I guess not and I was digging the recent PV they put on YouTube. It's different from their earlier material, no denying that but I still like it. Kiryu: I want to like Kiryu more but I also don't want to buy all 50 versions of their singles. I just wait until an album is out and get the one with the most songs. D: Ehhhh lately I either hate or love what they do and I feel like I tend to hate it more than love. I hope this label change is for the better but since it's major I guess we're gonna get a bunch of awful Day by Day songs. Jupiter: The single isn't even out yet but it's HIZAKI. I've liked him since his wee early days when he teamed up with Hisui and everything else he's done. It'll be frilly gay HIZAKI metal and hopeful Zin will be up to the challenge. I hope Teru composes more songs too! Okay coming up with 10 bands wasn't that hard!

Pretty much this. Just Google articles on the cost of living in Japan and you'll see that it's not just CDs, it's just about everything. Basically take a country with low natural resources and a population of around 127 million (just 20 million under Russia!) and cram it all in a landmass roughly the size of the state of California. More people, limited space and resources and high demand will make prices go up. It's like the US state of Hawaii, everything cost more because everything has to be imported. I know Japan makes various products domestically but a lot of the raw materials has to be imported from outside the country so I imagine that causes prices to inflate. There's a lot of factors but just take the reasons above and it gives you an idea of why the prices can be so wack to some of us. I know people whine, why don't they lower the costs of CDs especially indie bands. Look, their focus is their Japanese market not their foreign fans. Adjusting prices to appease foreign fans just doesn't make sense if they're not going to sell the CDs in that foreign market. Why would a US producer reduce the cost of CDs in the US market just because CDs are cheaper say over in Bangladesh or some other country. It's just not going to happen and just hope your local currency becomes stronger than the yen because it's just economics man.
  18. TheBistroButcher666

Vampire Rose is fun, it's super cheesy dumb gothic VK music. Especially since I know you like all the gaudy and gothic VK indie trash, so I'm sure this stuff you'll like. It's not amazing or mind blowing but you get all the crap that you'd find in like Metis Gretel, Vallquar, Mercuria or Sadies Marry. Plus side is Hikari composed some songs, so basically you get some Vallquar music with better vocals because it's not Hikari singing.
  19. TheBistroButcher666

You just jelly of my sick collection brah!?!?!?! I do have some tapes I do like and want to keep and a bunch I'm like, ugggh stupid auctions with 500 demo tapes of crap. Yet even though these song aren't that rare, nice to have it in a format I can use.
  20. TheBistroButcher666

Same here! It beats owning the physical copies of old clunky cassette tapes I can't even play. SELLING DEMO TAPE COLLECTION! Too many tapes, not worth owning :C I guess once the interior finally l degrades and is unplayable I can just create a binder that keeps all the booklet art and lyrics.
  21. TheBistroButcher666

SHUNKA DUNKA Oh snaps! This is the best day ever for fans of bad indies music! YEAH! New Ru:natic and Matina Demo CD AWESOME!
  22. TheBistroButcher666

I am so gonna get this!!
  23. Is it still cool to hate the Gazette or is it now cool to listen to them ironically? I need to know so I can fit in with the crowds D:

    1. Peace Heavy mk II
    2. Slsr

      Slsr

At least want to believe it is uncool to follow crowds these days, Just make your own choice :P.

    3. CAT5

      CAT5

I've never hated the gazette. I've talked a lot of shit about them, but out and out hate them? No. I got into them in 05 sometime...not too long before NIL came out. I lost interest before stacked rubbish was released, as I was too busy exploring other music scenes. Then the singles prior to DIM caught my interest again. I've been following them somewhat loosely ever since.

Market is all ages just that they open the bar before the show and give bar attendees numbers that determines your place in line. Basically I can enjoy prefunking before the concert without kids being escorted by their parents and then get priority in line. Otherwise, once bar attendees are shuffled into the venue, it becomes all ages (or 18 plus I dunno). There's also bar seating inside the venue that puts your right above the floor so you still have a great view. I don't care about being close to the band or all that, so a spot with a good view is a-okay for me
