They're a good standard 90s band to check out if you like the gawffy owld skewl bands. They're at least a tier above many other hyped up kvlt bands. Anyway, I like Rakuen even though AINE's live vocals are pretty atrocious. +1

I was pretty underwhelm with the last Lucky Bag I bought, basically a bunch of 12012 stuff. Then I see all the cool stuff Inartistic gets and I'm like WHAAAAAAAAAT :C

It's all part of Microsoft's master plan...

  4. Any legendary band with a humongous discography. So Buck Tick, Cali=gari and so forth. I also never listened to ALL of X Japan's discography but have heard all the usual popular songs like Rusty Nail, Silent Jealously and Weekend.
  5. Awww, why did the SPAM Prevention topic get locked. I was going to share my Spam Fried Rice recipe :D

The chorus is really killing me though, it's definitely from something but I just can't put my finger on it.

Oh what the heck, I've heard this song before. Can anyone one else figure it out? It's going to drive me nuts. At first I was thinking, oh not bad but then I realized this was "inspired" by another song I've heard before. I can't figure out from who though. Is it a Sadie song? I don't know if it's the mouth full of cotton Kyo trade mark vocals or what that is making me think that. Yet this song reminds me of a Sadie or Deathgaze song I've heard before.

I think the problem people have with Nocturnal Bloodlust is that they weren't a Visual Kei band at first and were just a deathcore band. Yet when they decided to become a Visual Kei band there was a change in music style to cater to Visual fans which left original fans of the non-VK Bloodlust alienated. Also off topic, isn't NB's singer from Seattle or something? Man, I wonder if he was in any bands when he was state side and I might have actually seen him at some dive bar show hahaha. - I'd pipe in and agree with some of the sentiments regarding Versailles. Versailles I agree that after Jubilee there was a gradual decline in their music. Everything after the album was either hit or miss. Their A side tracks for singles were definitely a letdown but the B sides I always thought were pretty rad. When the album came out, pretty much all I really enjoyed was anything that may have been on a single (except the orchestrated version of Lovers) and the new song Flowery which Teru composed. The 20 minute long standard behemoth track they put on the album felt like it was intentionally made long just for the sake of making a long song. It could have easily been split into two tracks (I think some people did do that with their rips) but it was just too much. Don't write a long song for the sake of making a long song, just write a song and if it's long, then cool you got a long song. I'm looking forward to Jupiter and even though I rag on Kamijo all the time I look forward to his new solo project. He's fine in bands like Lairene but I didn't like him in Versailles. Just doesn't have what it takes to be in a real metal band. Go do sappy rock ballads plz

Also there's Lin. OHHHHHHHHHHH SNAPS! I just went there. I've liked most of what KISAKI has done and his former bands: MIRAGE, Syndrome and Phantasmagoria etc. Lin though, as someone once described them was that they sound like Chariots but with more synth. Just as mediocre and bland as Chariots but with some KISAKI sprinkled into the songs. Yet KISAKI just couldn't save Lin, I don't know what it was but Lin just couldn't pull it off. I guess the hype of being yet another controversial KISAKI band (oh noes Kisaki) and the high expectations he left with Phantasmagoria and his previous bands. To me it seemed like KISAKI struggling to stay relevant in the indies scene but ended up producing a haphazard mess with Lin. I stopped listening to them towards the end so I don't know if anything really improved but Lin was just a big disappointment

Misaruka is another one I'll bring up. They're still pretty good and are better than a lot of bands out there. I mean they're sticking to this sound and style they've been trying to develop without becoming another mediocre pop rock band with electronic beats, deathcore pig screams and other hyped up VK cliches crammed into their songs. It's like they're actually trying to write good music except their songs are just kinda boring. Their early releases were pretty exciting, at least in a sense wanting more from them since they seem to have potential. Yet that last album just wasn't all that remarkable. I think they can be great but I just don't know what it is that's holding them back. Haha, this made me laugh. I don't listen to Kameleo but I'll sometimes have similar thoughts with other artists.

I'm on my phone btw, so if this has weird typos just blame autocorrect. I'm going to bring up Megalomania. When what's his face left and Sui started trying to sing nice everything just kinda went downhill. I do like some songs that they did but that new direction they started was just lackluster. Misery's style and composition always had metal influences, and the songs still retained his style. Just felt like they traded that chaotic goth style for more softer ballads or romantic clean songs. They weren't all bad but Sui just doesn't have a good voice. I think with another better vocalist some of those songs would have been fine but as Megalomania songs it just wasn't working. It wasn't so bad I still liked them but there was just a decline from previous material.

Gakkido was always bad, people only started paying attention to them after they had that horrible car accident that killed their manager and singer.
  13. TheBistroButcher666

In b4 all the kote kei butthurt, oh wait too late.

That's a good way to look at it. I just can't support the Neo-Nazi bands or bands that have members that support that movement. I listen to some artists that fall into a grey area since they tend to be more nationalistic than skinheads but it's not surprising if there's an interview or lyrics that are basically a bunch of supremacy bullshit. I know dumb VK boys will dress up in S&M Nazi outfits but I'm not talking about that. They're just ignorant and fetishizing it and they're not actually supporting the Neo-Nazi white supremacy political agenda. If they say they are, they're probably just being an idiot and more into it for the image. I don't want to put words in my friend's mouth or give out any more details since I don't know if she wants to share it with people (I don't even know the whole story). Just that basically, she still likes CELL. She goes to their lives all the time, buys merch and CDs just that after whatever happened. Basically she's like, yeah CELL is great but fuck Nao.

Aside from his days in Crack Brain, HIZAKI has pretty much grounded himself as a metal musician with this style he works with. His solo projects and the bands he has joined usually always had some variant of frilly metal riffs, solos and song structures. So I don't know why people expect anything else other than frilly HIZAKI metal from him? That's what he does and has always done for the majority of his musical career. Expecting him to do a kote kei song is silly when he's never really played that style of music. Now Teru I think really branches out and does neat things, all the songs he composed in Versailles were some of the coolest they had and stood out from the rest. I'd listen through an album and without looking at who composed what, it was easy to tell which one was a Teru song. I hope Teru composes more music in Jupiter because his songs always were a breath of fresh air after two or three HIZAKI/Kamijo songs.

For the most part I don't care to learn about the people in a band, at the end of the day I'm just there for the music. Yet sometimes it's hard to avoid learning about band members and Black Metal is a bit of a grey area for me. Varg/Burzum is an example of this, I could see myself enjoying his music but he's such a shitty person I just can't support him or anything he does. Yet then here I am playing Nokturnal Mortum even though they're all just as shitty as Varg. Jayrawk has a language barrier so I don't pick up on the bad and toxic personalities these guys might have. I am told the guys from CELL (particularly Nao) are all jerks and pretty shitty to fans. Yet it doesn't really phase me since all I care about is if he's gonna write good music in CELL and do what he does that makes me interested in the band. I also don't try to talk and interact with him or any band men, so I won't have to experience Nao or anyone's douchey personality.

Oh I love the new song but I hate that there are two regular edition singles I would have to buy in order to receive all four songs.
  18. What is with Visual Kei fans using made up dumb fucking names on Facebook?

My names just half of Dio's full name and my first initial. I could have gone with Mikarukawiidesuweeabotard.

You do make a good point and probably one of the main reasons I couldn't really get into Exist Trace. Everything feels so clean and polished, doesn't have that raw gritty sound that makes rock music great.
  20. TheBistroButcher666

Agree, Kamijo wasn't good at singing in a metal band either. Often ending up being the weakest member in the song, when a song really needed a strong and powerful vocal performance it almost always fell flat. I don't know if ZIN will be any better, he sounds like your typical Visual Kei vocalist so we will just have to wait and see when the single comes out but anything is better than Kamijo in a metal band. Music wise, it's what I would expect from a HIZAKI lead band. This is what HIZAKI does but it's not getting me all that excited for the single, despite preordering it anyway. I hope the B-sides are better.
  21. TheBistroButcher666

I honestly think Exist Trace is pretty overrated but I certainly prefer them over Danger Gang.

I'm assuming that interview is from that issue of Cure they were featured in but seems rather incomplete. Also I think Cure provides Engrish translations of the interviews for the cover bands for that month. Hahaha, I agree. I like their music, I like what they're doing but if they're just going to keep remaking old Dir en grey releases they're not going to get far. I liked that album they just put out but after awhile it becomes boring since it was all songs I had heard before in one form or another. Eventually I decided I'll just go and listen to for realz Dir en grey y'know. Hopefully future releases they'll actually make their own music instead of remaking other people's music.

I can certainly see it turning into boy bands with instruments. More super group bands with multiple vocalist and various musicians that are basically just selling clothing brands and so forth. More AGE-OF-EP failures. I mean we already have Gakido that no one cared about until that guy died and Monolith. http://youtu.be/OWTgD8vpeZs I forgot how much this cracked me up, especially the clown guy. LETS SHOVE EVERY VK STEREOTYPE WE CAN THINK OF INTO THIS BAND. Did they Google a picture of Frypan and decided they needed to shove a clown guy in there because CHICKS DIG THIS SHIT!? Unfortunately (or fortunately?) they got rid of the gawdy VK glam and just went to host boy VK that we're all familiar with.

In the past I was using Celga annnnnnnnd the last one I can't remember the name, Nippon something. I have a friend now that just buys things for me so I actually haven't used a shopping service in almost two years now I think. I have heard lately Celga's reliability has gone down but I never really had a problem and I got a lot of cool 'omake' (gift) items. So double check on Celga because it's been quite awhile since I last worked with them. Also I think they only work in USD. So if you're not actually in the US it may not be the best option since you're basically exchanging three times now.
  25. TheBistroButcher666

If I use a shopping service I almost always buy in batches. I figure if I'm already going to pay fees to buy this auction, might as well try and grab these others I had my eye on y'know. As for new releases, I don't buy very many these days. So I just purchase here and there.
