  1. Indeed awesome. I was wondering what was happening with him.. I was expecting an album after his ATOMOS releases but it never came. He went to work on his Orchestra project and now he's dealing with his divorce. I assume it's going to be a while before he releases any new material but more than likely it will be worth the wait.

  2. I'm always up for free music downloads. Particularly when bands actually released them that way.

Sleeping giants is pretty neat. I actually hadn't heard them sing in another language other than English so its kinda cool to hear that shift on this release. I also happen to be digging Heimvegen and Alu Misyrki at the moment.

The National is a rock band formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1999 and currently based in Brooklyn, New York. The band's lyrics are written and sung by Matt Berninger, a baritone. The rest of the band is composed of two pairs of brothers: Aaron and Bryce Dessner and Scott and Bryan Devendorf. Padma Newsome, from sister band Clogs, often contributes strings, keyboards, and other arrangements and instrumental flourishes.
    ?

Their first album The National was released in 2001 on Brassland Records, a label founded by band members Aaron and Bryce Dessner, along with their friend Alec Hanley Bemis.[ When reviewing the album, Jason MacNeil of No Depression wrote, "...The National has created nearly a dozen picture-perfect Americana bar-soaked gems with its debut album. From the opening notes of "Beautiful Head", the delicate line between polished roots-oriented pop and alt-country has rarely been walked so deliberately with the payoff so favorable."

The National's sophomore album Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, released in 2003, was the band's first collaboration with record producers, Paul Heck and Peter Katis. Publications such as Uncut and the Chicago Tribune named it an album of the year.

Their first album on Beggars Banquet, Alligator, was released in 2005. The album was met with much critical acclaim and featured highly in "Album of the Year" charts in the Los Angeles Times, Insound, Uncut, and many other publications. The album allowed the band increased exposure. NME and Pitchfork Media ranked Alligator as a top album of the 2000s. Alligator went on to sell over 200,000 copies worldwide.

Their fourth album, Boxer, was released on May 22, 2007, and also received widespread critical praise. The album features contributions from various guest artists, including Sufjan Stevens and Doveman (a.k.a. Thomas Bartlett). It was voted as the #2 best album of the year by Stereogum.com and the #1 album of the year by Paste Magazine. Boxer made numerous "album of the decade" lists, including Pitchfork Media, Aquarium Drunkard, Paste, and more.

In May 11, 2010 their next album, High Violet, was released to widespread critical acclaim. The album also debuted with first week sales topping charts across the world, ranking #3 in the US, #2 in Canada, #5 in the United Kingdom, and #3 in Portugal, among others. The album has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide. High Violet is now a Gold Album in UK, Ireland, Denmark and Belgium.

Another amazing band out of the post punk revival scene. I've been listening to them ever since High violet. Recommend if you like good music. Matt Berninger seriously has one of the most manliest voices ever.

  4. Sorry I can't say I recall you, though your username does seem familiar. Anyway welcome back. It's good to see you found the forum again.

And congrats on being your own boss and having your radio show. It's always been a fantasy of mine to start a radio show that plays rock or jrock where I live. Especially since all the radio station where I live (in NYC) play mainstream crap and there's only one mediocre rock station.

  5. Deadman Wonderland

    deadman-wonderland.jpg?w=514&h=363

A massive earthquake ravaged Japan's mainland and destroyed most of Tokyo, sinking three-quarters of it into the ocean. Ten years later, the story shifts to Igarashi Ganta, a seemingly ordinary student attending Nagano Prefecture's middle school. This all changes when a strange man covered in blood and crimson armour floats through his classroom windows and massacres Ganta's entire class, but instead of killing him, embeds a red crystal shard in Ganta's chest. Within days of the massacre, Ganta is declared the sole suspect and, following a quick trial, is sentenced to life imprisonment in Deadman Wonderland, a massive theme park like prison.

Arriving at the prison, Ganta is fitted with a special collar which monitors his location and life signs. Due to the heinous nature of Ganta's 'crime', he has to live out his imprisonment under Deadman Wonderland's 'Death Sentence'. A lethal poison is constantly injected into his bloodstream through the collar, but it can be neutralized by consuming a peculiar candy-like medicine every three days. Additional candy can be earned through hard work or by purchasing it. In order to gather Cast Points, the prison's currency, an inmate has to perform in the facility's lethal games and survive.

In a bizarre twist, Ganta begins to develop the ability to manipulate his own blood, to the point of turning it into a weapon. After his ability is discovered, Ganta is forced to participate in brutal gladiatorial death matches, known as Carnival Corpse, whose anonymous spectators pay large amounts of money to watch.

Just started watching this. It's pretty cool so far.

  6. raunchy.jpg

Raunchy is a metal band from Denmark, formed in 1994. They have released five studio albums, and are currently signed to Lifeforce Records.

Kasper Thomsen - Harsh Vocals & Clean Vocals

    Lars Christensen - Guitar

    Jesper Andreas Tilsted - Guitar

    Jesper Kvist - Bass

Jeppe Christensen - Keyboard, Clean Vocals

    Morten Toft Hansen - Drums

Raunchy was founded in 1992 by Jesper Tilsted, Jesper Kvist, and Morten Toft Hansen, who started playing mostly covers from bands such as Metallica and Slayer. Lars Vognstrup and Lars Christensen joined the band in 1994, and in 1995 they record their first demo, at Borsing Recordings in Århus. A few months later, Raunchy entered the Aabenraa Studio with producer Jacob Hansen to record Velvet Noise. In 2001 the album was released in Scandinavia and was well received by the press. After the release, keyboardist and supporting vocalist Jeppe Christensen joined the band.

The year 2002 proved to be crucial for the band: as the first Danish band ever, Raunchy signed a contract with one of the world biggest metal labels, Nuclear Blast Records, who released Velvet Noise in Europe. In 2003 Velvet Noise was released in North America, and in the summer their second album, Confusion Bay, was recorded, again with producer Jacob Hansen. The year 2004 started off with singer Lars Vognstrup leaving the band. Kasper Thomsen was recruited as the new lead singer to replace Lars. In February Confusion Bay was released. The band performed a whole concert live on Danish National Radio, and in August performed at the Wacken in front of 4000 fans.

Death Pop Romance was released in early 2006, and received positive reviews among critics. The Danish quintet took the necessary steps to propel their sound forward by mixing intensely abrasive thrash riffs and dynamic drumming in the vein of Strapping Young Lad and Fear Factory with their signature sound, while subliminally incorporating elements of pop music and melodic death metal in the vein of Soilwork or In Flames. In 2006, the band continued to tour to promote Death Pop Romance along with support gigs such as Ill Nino and Hatebreed. The band embarked on a full-length European tour called Danish Dynamite Tour, together with Hatesphere and Volbeat, and played at 2008's Roskilde Festival.

In the summer of 2008 Raunchy released their fourth album Wasteland Discotheque. The album was again generally well received among the press. In late 2008 Raunchy went on a small tour with Volbeat in Germany. Their fifth album, A Discord Electric, was released September 20, 2010.

I love this band. One of my favorite danish based metal bands. I always liked their unique sound and they haven't put out a album I didn't like. They perfected it with Wasteland Discotheque which was actually based on a book by T.S. Eliot. If you haven't heard of them it's a good place to start. They also did a neat cover of Rockwells Somebody's Watching Me. On Wasteland Discotheque everything flows seamlessly together. The dual guitars easily go from down-tuned fast paced rhythm sections to melodic moments, to catchy guitar riffs. The mixture of harsh vocals accompany the songs heavier moments when those double bass drums kick in and contrast well with the clean vocals. The melodies and choruses themselves are always catchy and blend elements of pop. The synths/keyboards are actually really well done. They add atmosphere, be it electronic, industrial, or disco without overpowering the rest of the music or making the band sound like another synth band. On their last album(A Discord Electric) they're pushing the electronic/pop elements of their music. A good example is Rumors Of Worship. It has their unique blend of metal but during the chorus it shifts into a hooky melody with electronic/laser like synths in the background. And there's a tad more death metal influence on that one then on wasteland. Though on the earlier albums the death metal influence was more prominent. On a Death Pop Romance their sound is actually more thrashy and raw. It sort of sounds like metalcore with a futuristic industrial tinge.

  7. Have loved them since 'Somebody Told Me'.

Same. A friend of mine bought their album after hearing that song and let me borrow it. I ripped it, gave it back and fell in love with their music after my first listen. It was easily the best album I had heard all year.

  8. Post how you found out about the forum.

For me, exactly 4 years ago to this very day I joined the original tainted world on May 6th 2007. As I recall I found about it through some random link I came across on myspace. I actually joined to download the Gazette’s Stacked Rubbish only to find out it hadn't come out yet. I did stay for other awesome downloads and eventually became active in the forum.. I’ve never joined another forum or have been active on another as I have on this one. Not only does is it have awesome music but awesome people as well. Which is why I’ve always supported/stuck with this site through all the download wipeouts, Egyptian threads, times it went offline or became another version. It may have a different name now but it’s still the same great site. And as far as I can tell, its core community has more or less stayed the same.

  9. I HAVE to relive this thread seeing what kind of dreams I had last night

First I was in this dark corridor, where a in Ascendead Master dressed Kamijo told me to come to him. Just when the guy wanted to bite my neck, I was in my city and I went to the local bakery. Kim and Kourtney Kardashian were there apparently and since the cashier sucked at English I tried to help him, but he just acted rude. After that I ate sandwiches and drank coffee with Kim and Kourtney. And after that I was in the jungle near a tomb with Alice Nine's Saga. He had a hat and a whip and we were both dressed in Indiana Jones outfits. We flew in helicopters, battled mummies in the tomb and held off wild life with guns xD It was so awesome, it was like an Indiana Jones movie

Does sound awesome. However, I don't know any of the people you mentioned. Minus Saga. Which reminds me. I have to check out Alice Nine's new album. I read a whole bunch of positive reviews.

Last dream I recall was not only random but pretty messed up. It involved cakes and sex. Neither of these things were on my mind before going to sleep yet I still dreamt about them. :cookie: 8=>

  10. ^ That might have to do with the fact that they're music is influenced by British acts plus the fact that they were influenced by the NYC Post-Punk image scene like Interpol and The Bravery on their debut.

I know they recently mentioned they're going to start the writing process of their 4th album in May, but they also mentioned they're going to take their time on it. They've been putting out albums every 2 years so I'm hoping there isn't this huge 5 year gap between Day and Age and thier next album.
