  1. Anything before Wataru strangled that chick should be given a shot.

Anything after Wataru strangled that chick should be treated with great caution.

    MAR MAROON should be crucified.

  2. Everything between DEATH POINT and DEVIL'S PARADE should have been left off this album. That comprises a good portion of my review. DEATH POINT blows, 13 -Thirteen- feels like an interlude. As a song, it goes nowhere and does nothing. LOVE IS DEAD is just an OK song and shoved in between 13 and DEVIL'S PARADE ruins it's appeal even more. DEVIL'S PARADE was good until that really weird breakdown that loses me. Not the greatest thing on this album but it isn't hideous. I have a feeling it might grow on me a lot with subsequent listens so it's somewhere in the middle. So yes, all of these songs could have gone, made MONSTERS into an EP and I would have been a happy camper.

Human-clad monster is an amazing song once it gets started. Best of the album. Hizumi actually sings (as opposed to some other songs on this album where he just chants or mumbles). MONSTERS needed more HCM. Next up on my praise list is dope. It has a simple guitar riff but it works. There's some more of Hizumi's singing and I think there's some growling in here as well. If it's not, it's FALLING. I have to agree with SUBLIMINAL on the BRILLIANT references but it's not as blatant as I thought it would be but the rest of the song works. Not as great as the two before it but it isn't atrocious either. PROGRESS had some of that delicious synth work they were raving about and Tsukasa's contribution to the album is distinct, which is better than what can be said about his addition to REDEEMER. Then there's FINAL CALL, which I oddly like a lot, and then the ending ballad abyss. It's not as epic as I thought it would be but it serves it's purpose and it's a good song. The third best on the album, tied with FINAL CALL.

My main problem with this album is that tracks two through five are too much of the same. Omit those and we have a winner. With those in this album's score in my book drops a lot. It's still a good album, the parts I like I adore and the parts I hate I abhor.

    Mirror = [coll] > Monsters > REDEEMER

Put a large gap between Monsters and REDEEMER.

  3. Not to derail current conversation (I plan to go to the live at NYC on the 24th) but I just have to say this somewhere Dir en grey related. I was speaking with a friend on TW about old Dir en grey releases and I began recommending singles to download and singles to skip.

95% of those old remixes are just hideous. HIDEOUS. Especially Yurameki. That's a way to destroy a good song. I'm glad the band decided on reconstructing old songs instead of lazily throwing together a remix of the current single because I can only think of three singles that actually had good remixes.

Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. GO DIR EN GREY.

  4. I don't know. I actually thought SHIVER was pretty good. I liked the whole "Miseinen" era feel the track had, even if it was a bit weak compared to Miseinen. Would listen again.

HESITATING MEANS DEATH was the weakest song on the single. The breakdown was typical and Ruki's WHOA's during the verse ruined what otherwise would have been a solid song. Not too bad but not my favorite.

Naraku ends off this single with goodness. I can't even say it's a DIM leftover. It feels like they tried to make another atmospheric DIM track in the present and this is what came out. They should keep going in this direction because it works and they're good at it.

And for the first time I heard Kai and Reita do something other than vegetate. Good stuff ;D

Alright single. Not their best but better than Before I Decay.

  5. I was the eleventh wheel today. I'm tired of being the one left over.

ELEVEN YOU SAY HOW IS POSSIBLE? Let's do some math here.

Birthday boy and his girlfriend make one couple so that's the third wheel. He brings his friend from Queens and he brings his girlfriend so that makes me the sixth wheel. Then it's the weedhead and his girl so that makes me the ninth. Then it's my bro and he brings his girl so we can meet her for the first time so that makes me 12.

Then there was a single girl but she was so emocore she subtracts one because she did it to herself so 11. There's nothing like everyone else shacking up under an umbrella IN POURING FUCKING TORRENTIAL RAIN while you wait for some bus that decides not to come AND NO ONE DECIDES AT ONE POINT THAT, YOU KNOW, NOT KISSING FOR FIVE SECONDS AND SHARING AN UMBRELLA WAS IN ORDER. And no one gave a shit at that either. "Oh you're wet where's your umbrella"? FUCKTARD I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS GOING TO RAIN TODAY IT'S NEW YORK THE WEATHER CHANGES EVERY TEN MINUTES.

When I leave don't say shit either >___>. You invite me places and then go isolate yourselves. This is why I go nowhere and stay on TW.

  6. Nolan is golden. This movie is golden. Stop reading this, go buy yourself an overpriced ticket to the movie theatre next time you have a chance and watch it.

Oh and if you have small bladders don't get anything to drink. Walk out for five minutes and this movie will make no sense to you. Otherwise, one of the best movies I've seen in a while.

  7. They'll definitely need to sell every ticket they can. If they can do that, perhaps more well-known GOOD VK bands will be given that shot next (don't ask me to name any off the top of my head, GazettE was the only one I could think of that fits the bill atm >.

I'd have gone if I wasn't so far away.
