*=it is a famous brand of clothing, particularly loved by girls because of the fluffy and warm pajamas they produce.
**=it may seem like something sexy, but later in the song it becomes clear that the bandman couldn’t even be bothered to land that girl a pajama.
***= a service for commercial promotion which consist in receiving mail about the future even of the company and such. Quite common in Japan, a bit unknown in the West.
****=CACAO is one other application for chatting, calling and such for free which is an alternative to the extreme popular service call LINE. It is kinda suspect because looks like the bandman wants to use CACAO to flirt with other girls without letting the cheerfully naive girl know.
*****=In Japan, Christmas is an event for couples, so this phrase is extremely fishy if said to one’s girlfriend/boyfriend: sounds like the bandman is definitely having a date with another girl.
******= it is a pun impossible to translate. It is the combination of the words for the buddhist prayer (gasshou) that everyone does on New Year’s Eve and “Merry Christmas”.

Also the pressure these guys have by the japanese society/elders/family etc, I can imagine it must be tough and I can definitely see why a lot of people give up "early" (five years is not early for a vk band tbh).  (I think that) unless these guys make it big very early on they usually quit because they realize it's not a viable career path. 
 
On the other hand you have guys like Yuuga and Kyouka who simply don't give a fuck. But not giving a fuck is harder in the japanese society than most western countries. 

+ Arguing of the members about what to play how aka musical differences (anyone who ever played in a band will understand easily).
Those two are definitly the main reasons. All those drama reasons you wrote are funny but not the main problems i think (while still exceptionally high in vk compared to other genres).

Maybe certains who had a contract with label and these hold more time because they had  a contrat respect.
 
In the beginning everyone is ok or maybe certains don't really  know what the music who  want. And this  gave musical difference or  differents opinion.
Maybe the young bands don't know  how the system is. Or the reality is different  or more difficult than they think.
 

I guess you two have never played in a band before? Its so common and the main problem in a band because mostly you have 5 people with 5 different opinions..

Sounds great. I love how hard these guys go considering the poppy energetic atmosphere.

Real life kicks in and they realize they can not do bands indefinetely. They decide to get a real job.

Sometimes young bands get popular too fast. Every band aims to be the big name in the scene, but when they actually get popular like, within two years or so it gets overwhelming to them. And everyone has different idea of popularity and ways to deal with it.

I'm wondering about your thought's why bands break up within 5 years.
Now days bands sometimes disband before they start or even give up within year.
Which reasons can be behind this, any thought's?
 
A too big dream to get fast popular Fan jealousy (Aka, it get's leaked that a member has a girlfriend or woman he shares the bed with) Fan jealousy (Other kind of trouble) Fan hate (For whatever reason) Band jealousy (Yes, that also exists, sometimes other bands get Jealous and makes it almost impossible to continue) Not be able to pay their dept A member to be a dick to steal all money  A member to be a dick to disappear out of nothing A member leaves the band Not supported by a live house anymore (Sometimes bands can play because they get support) Lost connections (If they are friends of bands, its more easy to play at venues, etc) Fired from a label (happens in secret too) Bad sales No real heart for music Started a band only for money  Thinking looks brings in money Creating Trash music (Aka, can't really play their instruments)  
That's what I think of...
If you look at rock and punk bands, they also are poor and have difficulties to gain money from fans and to gain fans isn't always that easy too. But they keep on going and work daily hard to pay for studio and band costs. And of course some longer living visual kei bands are also that way, only handful of fans, but yet going. Even if a member does leave the band, for whatever reason, bands keep on going. (often they only quit if a vocalist drops out the band)
 
If a band does go on a break or will disband after a year of 5... I would say, okay you have tried.  But anything lesser than that....
Also if a vocalist will leave a band, I agree of starting over under a new name. However it's not 100% necessary as we also saw bands going under the same name. 
 
So why are those young bands giving up this fast?
Do they really need to quit?

well, there are fans out there who make videos about why their favourite ship is totally real (especially seen that in VK, but I’m sure there were dir en grey fans like this too at some point), so it certainly raises the question how in touch these fans are with reality. They might even sent shipping fanart to their favs etc.
but I guess most older VK fans are not like that, and enjoy VK for what it is, which is great

O_ o Really ?  For me it's an evidence maybe I'm old. But same I was young, for me is a evidence is not real. And this is the same problems with  Japenese and Korean Idols and other artits.  Certain fans don't the difference between the reality and their imagination.

I was discussing this with my gf 2 days ago... that happens a lot in the western fandom, in social media-based circles that don't look much into the scene and have no clue of how it actually works in Japan. I think the fandom in Japan in general knows how things are. Of course, there are whackos like everywhere else.

I was more talking about the "rumors" that girls pay VK band members for spending time with them, etc.
But, of course, the industry in general pays into that. Which, you know, I do not have a problem with IF fans understand that's it's an illusion. Hell, I go to concerts, and I'm paying for an illusion. I go to conventions and watch actors during Q&As, and I've also worked behind the convention scene to know that actors are, well, actors, and they want to please their fans. Nothing wrong with that.
It is just that I think that many fans do not know that it's not 100 % real. And that's where we have a problem.

I remember being 16 and trying to learn the natsu koi natsu game dance with my best friend. Good times.

I was 20 when I discovered visual kei for the first time. It was the time when Miyavi was a multicolored freak with piercings all over, running wild as he showcased his crazy guitar skills to the world. I was in love, obsessed with this new scene I had just discovered, and I had done so at a time in my life where I soon had the chance to choose my own direction. So, I changed the course of my life, and here I am, a decade later, still in love with a scene that I have been a part of, same way it has been a part of my life, for ten years.
 
I have spent years studying and researching v-kei culture in uni, I have lurked at the back of venues for many shows on passes from work, and tumbled around at the front for many, many more as an enthusiastic fangirl. I like to see bands objectively and appreciate each for their strengths - most important for me personally, though, is their performance live and I won't judge anyone before seeing them at least once.
 
As for music taste, I find most of my favorites through lives, where I prefer the somewhat wilder ones. Absolute favorites are the GazettE, Nocturnal Bloodlust, Diaura, RAZOR and Dadaroma. And I'm a die hard D’espairsRay and Mejibray fan, too. I am not much for the older bands, and I try not to get into indie bands, but there are exceptions for both. My current indie crush is Dexcore and I've had some weird moments of insanity where I went for cuter things... but I try to forget xD Aside from that, I follow the activities of AKi (SID, solo) and Kenzo (Gremlins, solo) closely as they are special to me and has been for a very long time ❤️
 
Outside of our dark and sparkly world of visual kei, I try to balance my time between being an artistic jack of all trades and an adventurous world traveller. But that is a whole other story!
