One might ask about the source for my "Vegeta comment" - Inoue (DEG fans have seen this name a lot) gave a hint in his twitter In addition to that, STU remix will be done by Akira Yamaoka (thus making him the man behind BOTH single remixes) and Unraveling remix will be done by T$UYOSHI from 'Pay Money to My Pain' fame (I think OHP has updated that info)

Considering that Trombe included Onmyoza too, I highly doubt that this list should be somewhat "exclusively VK" Oh, and Maximum the Hormone's vocalist/guitarist and drummer are brother and sister afaik.
  3. Pretsy

Sort of *not really important* trivia but the correct way to pronounce 'Arche' (DEG staff failed so hard with "ARUKE" tbqh) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esaRmGjKSI8 Sources like wiktionary might help
  4. Pretsy

Gin, are you okay with soundtracks too? Since certain soundtracks might have piano pieces you're looking for (at least basing on your suggestions, a la "Naked" and "Zoey") Other than that, some vk suggestions just for the sake of it:

Fun fact: Ryo Horikawa (Japanese voice actor for Vegeta from DBZ fame) is narrating the trailer... (I actually half-expected the "FINAL FLASH" for the lulz)
  6. Pretsy

^So you are basically wanting them to return back to Thrill Ride Pirates/Lollipop Kingdom-era? Not judging ofc if you do tho...

VK: Penicillin had a good one https://soundcloud.com/suisain/hibiwareta-holy-night Pierrot's "Sacred" sounds very winter-y to me - and that is how I perceive it (before OP goes saying that "it has nothing to do with winter") Laruku has an obvious one too, lol Same goes for Lareine... Non-VK: Tokyo Girls' Style has the cutest Xmas song of 2014 imho https://soundcloud.com/suisain/tgs-tsuki-no-kimagure Tokyo Jihen has something what I define as one of their "Winter nocturnes" Seo Taiji... And finally, Takanori! http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/TMRevolution---Burnin%2526%2523039%253B-X%2526%2523039%253Bmas/dcd52789a84a3b180341a81adc57f960

Snippets sound okay, albeit still sporting some DSS-ish tendencies... Hope those distracting 15-sec samples will be available on Friday

They are truly awesome And let's not forget their latest back-to-the-80s flashback: Ps. yes, Tempura Kidz have a notable role in this song too (doing bg vox, rather than being just a dance troupe for the PV)
  11. Pretsy

Sounding good so far! (some nice 'sug life era baroque'-y vibes)

It's official - they will go back to their club sound a la MORE!MORE!MORE!/FLASH BACK: (ignore possible white noise-y sounds - this guy was a great Samaritan tbqh) (off their latest Ageha show) Toshiko is back!
  14. Pretsy

Yeah, according to the video description - Sugizo will have a heavy involvement in this release and downy will be responsible for backup as well edit: Staff for "HARD CORE REVERIE"'s each track is in Morrie's OHP http://morrie.jp/hcr/#id27 (just click on each track for more info) Gomen.

    Jazzy Morrie tho
  16. Tetsu is still active in the J-music scene (and quite popular too, as a )? Seconding Hakuei tho Asagi basically belongs to the same generation as DEG, Pierrot and other bands of that time though (despite his age - yes, "ojisan" status is more or less based on the era they got their "vk status" imho), since Balsamic was from that era I think ('96)? I might feel the same about Kisaki too. Let's just forgive this list - if we were going LITERALLY along the lines of "what can be counted as a j-rock ojisan", then the list should have like 100 choices. Perhaps the topic title should be more of " Who's your favorite (popular) J-rock "ojisan"?
  17. Pretsy

    What is your fetish?
  18. Pretsy

Happy family of Sugiharas (a.k.a Sugizo and his daughter Luna throughout the years) She's such a qt-pie
  19. Marvel's talent scout has something to say, avec a small teaser source: https://twitter.com/CBCebulski Woah. Also: quoted joke of the day
  20. Pretsy

Wish there would have been bigger doggies/dog plushies
  21. Dada seems to go retiring again - and who cares at this point? Let's leave that question unanswered and open the Pandora's box of all unnecessary vk-related FB rants ...Ready? Open the spoiler. Tsk tsk tsk, Dada.
  22. Didn't see this around here, so thought of making one: Just like in the western music scene, Japanese/Asian artists have their own "definitive", so called "THE" Pvs. Most of them are given that status due to various factors, including their excessive shock factor or some of the most memorable/unique ways of expressing their message visually. That being said - what are "THE" pvs by your favorite bands/artists that you consider to be "iconic" or "definitive"? Why does it work/what does make your choice "Iconic"? Before someone goes asking - yes, you can choose other PVs from already mentioned bands, just as long as you explain your picks properly and don't do multi-post spams. E.g. my choices: Dir en grey - Obscure Why it works: As far as I'm concerned, this is what made DEG's "overshooting" shock factor one of their staple characteristics: hideous, absurd mix of "mild" gore, porn, vomit and other randomness is quite strong enough to burn itself into your head. Internet surfing enthusiasts in '03 couldn't really expect themselves to stumble upon something that literally "screams" the message of said music - and the message is anything but family-friendly . I am not saying that DEG pioneered the making of shock value-based PVs, but they surely gave it enough exposure and interest afterwards (you can already pinpoint the consequences)... Sheena Ringo - Honnou http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/Sheena-Ringo---Honnou/7e50f819e6ea8bbf7f107fda3d49f4f8 (the PV is VEVOed so you better watch it through jps.tv - no account needed!) Why it works: What you'd normally consider to be quite harmless happens to be quite freaky and kinky in one way or another. This is how I, and perhaps many other innocent fans at that time, interpreted Shiina's most popular PV ever - "Honnou". I like how musical accompaniment really fits the flow of PV: starting out as somewhat laid-back, albeit with some scary undertones (blood bags, Shiina breaking glass panes, some girl-on-girl action...) - and ending up on almost fierce, but still lovely tone (Shiina showcasing her true "I don't care - I'm strong and independent!"-kind of image in the end). Even with such simplistic ideas like glass breaking, you can come up with something what is being defined as the "PV with many meanings". The hell, if you don't take my word for it - let this be a good reminder!
  23. Most of those oyajis are quite fine, but no one beats Atsushi's classiness Talk about staying relevant for many decades tbqh....
