Retsu just seems really pretentious. His reason for making the band no longer wear makeup was he wanted to be seen as a human. Like... makeup didn't hide your humanity in the first place but ok. I admire the work he did on Chedoara, but giving him full power is starting to backfire. Eventually, Sho and Hiroshi are going to have enough and break up the band. Well Retsu and Issei were both from D.I.D, if that is any explanation lol
  2. I forgot how bad a lot of the Hip Hop from between 2007 and 2011 was. Specifically anything relating to Lil Wayne, Drake or Nicki Minaj. As a 7 to 11 year old, hearing it on the radio, it just annoyed me a little. As an adult who can actually comprehend the lyrical content, the beats, etc., it's even worse now.

I'm just saying what I know via. my friend's experience, since they attended one of their more recent lives. According to them, the live just wasn't as good as their others, and the only ones giving it their all were Sho and Hiroshi.

From what I've heard, Retsu mostly started slacking after Ryuya and Taishi left. Essentially, Retsu has skills, but he's gotten lazy
  5. Himeaimichu

The riff for La'Mule's Mind Control is seemingly inspired by Creeping Death from Metallica

3 member bands can work, but you gotta have a bass at least. And it doesn't have to be a full on bass guitar, an octaver pedal will work just fine (that's what the White Stripes do), but it has to be something to provide some kind of low-end, because just guitar and drums sounds horrible. Even a pre-recorded bass and rhythm guitar could work, but no amount of filler will change the fact that the band doesn't even have any energy live anymore.
  7. I'm still wondering what the "Norowareta Guruguru Chan" thing was
  8. Dimlim letting Retsu become the band leader has seriously backfired. How the hell they allow him to be the leader any way? Did  the power just get transferred to the next biggest douchebag after Issei left? lmao

      Hello doppleganger lol

  9. Eh 19 isn't too young, since I have to have it to transition anyway but that's beyond the topic lmao
  10. I wish I could look like that when I'm 42, but I'm cursed with XY chromosomes (edit: My dumbass found out this person also has XY chromosomes. God I am a dumbass)
  11. Youtube randomly recommended Phineas and Ferb in Japanese to me, and it low key sounds like a Guruguru Eigakan song

  12. How the hell did Ja Rule in the early 2000's get away being tone deaf and sounding like he has a cold?

Sure, Mesmerize is catchy, but Ashanti is the only one putting any actual effort into the music lmao

LOL I only had to read the first line of your status to know you were writing about Mesmerize

Same here. As much as I shit on Ja Rule's attempt at singing, I won't lie I actually enjoyed hearing his stuff as a child

  13. So has any more info about the Norowareta Guruguru-chan thing that Gulu Gulu is supposed to be performing as on the 21st been revealed?

Kinda. It's basically a term for Japanese popular music from the early 20th century. I actually prefer the term "Ryukoka", for the kind of music Angura bands play, since that term more describes the kind of music that was the prototype to Enka and had Eroguro themes. The most popular Ryukoka artist arguably being Haruo Oka
  15. Himeaimichu

I agree with @Jigsaw9. Just basically be a Kayoukyoku or Ryukoka Vkei band that wears uniforms and is obsessed with Eroguro, Much like actual Ryukoka and Enka artists in the 1920's (From what I've read), Eroguro was pretty popular and influential to the Japanese music scene in the early 20th century. I've even found a Japanese Kayoukyoku collection CD that was titled "Ero Guro Nansensu" for sale on CD Japan or something once. So I would define it by bands such as Guruguru Eigakan, Inugami Circus Dan, etc. Although Inugami has less Kayoukyoku influence, they're basically part of Angura by association. However, I do agree there is a lot of traditional Japanese elements, but it's not the same elements that Kiryu or Memento Mori use. In general, Kayoukyoku, Ryukoka and Enka music is just traditional Japanese music, but on western instruments. It's more of the general nature of the music they play. During the era where these genres were popular, Traditional Japanese Music hadn't declined yet, and it was still popular to listen to Shamisen and Koto music, so it's natural that a lot of that kind of music would influence the popular genres. Bands like Kiryu however are more influenced by straight up traditional Japanese music, and its reflected in how they write their music. Although I've heard the term "Chikashitsu Kei" to refer to Guruguru and Inugami, idk how proper of a term that is.

With Trap Beats, I kinda realised, it's not the rhythms themselves I hate. I hate the drum sounds themselves. The Hi Hats are too front and center. I find the kind of hi hat sound used in the early 2000s way more pleasing to the ear than the irritating ones used in modern Hip Hop. Like, for example, I really like the beats to Confessions Part 2 by Usher, because even though they have the triplet hi hats, they dont sound up in your face and annoying. Basically, if trap producers used better sounding drums, I'd probably like them more.
  17. Ok, am I crazy, or does this early MCR song almost sound like it could be Luna Sea influenced?

Or maybe there is a band that influenced both. IDK. Maybe just a coincidence lol. I really don't listen to MCR other than their first album so I don't know much about them.

Good catch, I can hear it! They probably have similar influences, maybe '80s post-punk and post-hardcore combined or idk. This short-lived band from the '80s also comes to mind (they were one of the main inspirations for the whole emo thing).

Oh yeah, I'm semi familiar with Rites of Spring because I like a few songs from their vocalists other band, Fugazi. I actually never knew they influenced Luna Sea, but that makes a lot of sense!

      saishuu

I feel like it's the vocals. I can hear some Ryuichi in Gerard's voice here. The music itself I'm not so sure it reminds me of LUNA SEA, except for that little part from 1:37-1:40 and the occasional screaming.

  18. Ok, this is gonna make me sound like either a total dude bro or a total pleb, but I love the work Sean Murray did on the Call of Duty World at War soundtrack. It's just so unconventional for a WW2 soundtrack

  19. Serbian folk music sounds way more Middle Eastern than I expected lol. Makes sense though, knowing the historical influence from the Greeks and Ottomans.

  20. (For context, read my wtf should I do post in Toasted Waffles first)

Idk what to do. I'm at my wits end and I'm trying to protect my cat from this piece of shit my partner's parents invited over. They're at the hospital, so it's me, my partner and him alone, and I'm trying to protect my cat from being beaten by a piece of trailer trash who thinks it's ok to hit animals when they misbehave. But that involves keeping her in a room away from him until he goes to bed, and she keeps crying

Is there anyone you could get to look after your cat for a little while? If so, that seems like the safest option to me.

    2. Himeaimichu

      Himeaimichu

Nope. I have no friends in the immediate area. And even if I did, it's already night time. I'm just patiently waiting for this piece of shit to go to bed

  21. Himeaimichu

Hibiki from Calmando Qual rescues cats. Kuro from Kuroyuri to Kage is also a cat lover, but he's no longer active
  22. Himeaimichu

Yeah I had originally confused the two lmao. I originally thought Chucky was Hotaru lol
  23. Himeaimichu

Oh, then I'm an idiot lmao.
  24. Himeaimichu

Seeing Hotaru look like Buzz Lightyear, and with no makeup is... weird and offputting.
