As for me, I would definitely back up a band via crowdfunding , IF we're given a clear and official outline of the expenses. This way foreign fans can help their favorite musicians stay afloat, disbandment in vk could reach an all time low?!  Since there's such a big overseas crowd, it surprises me that this hasn't been thought of yet. (not really, is crowdfunding even big in JP?)
 
Also love the idea of little extras that come with crowdfunding, now that I think about it, a patreon website for bands wouldn't be a bad idea either.

so they used a 'random character' generator to come up with the look of each member (looking at the pictures at the start of the thread), then clicked 'random PV theme generator' and finally 'random song parts generator' for the overall release.
 

Music is not bad but they're the worst looking visual kei band I think I ever saw.

I saw 37 today, which was about the murder of Kitty Genovese in which supposedly 37 people witnessed it and didn't do anything. There isn't a single likable character in the whole film and the plot spread itself way too thin around its characters, all of which are far too eccentric. The director thought he could substitute overly dramatic individuals for a compelling story, leaving a super depressing barebones film. Also, the "true events" the film is based after is exaggerated, as several people did call the police, they just refused to report to the incident and the victim's brother has since come forth saying that the real number of witnesses was more around 12, not 37, but the New York Times blew the story out of proportion for sensationalism. Either way, the film was a hot pile of garbage surrounding a "based on a true story" tragedy.

Exile-kei

First of all, I want to say that I'm very happy to find out about this forum. Finally, a place where I can actually see any posts (at all) related to my fav band. 
I've been following the j-entertainment scene (music, drama, movies, tokusatsu, anime, etc) since 2006, so it has been about 10 years now. The first time I came to know about the term "visual-kei" was back in 2007, thanks to Death Note. (LOL that's right, I love some of Nightmare's songs!)
 
I've been part of many fandoms. From idols to tokusatsu, actors, actresses, etc. The only fandom that I've never been in (and wouldn't ever touch) is KPOP. While I'm very open to any kind of entertainment, songs by KPOP artists aren't my cup of tea at all (mostly)D: I don't dislike people easily though, especially musicians who I personally don't know. It's a matter of whether the music is my cup of tea or not. I don't know whether a song is "good" or "bad" If the songs give me eargasm, then they're good for me Oh and I don't play any instruments. I enjoy listening to music yet I'm not really interested in learning it. 
 
That being said, I have been following Golden Bomber for quite some time now (started in 2015). Late, I know. I saw them for the first time when I watched either Arashi ni Shiyagare or Domoto Kyoudai. Kinda hate myself for not getting into them at that time. Been buying & collecting their stuff (CDs, DVDs, tour goods, etc) since 2015 and I'm just. so. into. them. that I don't know what to do with myself sometimes -.-"
 
Contrary to popular belief, they actually do play their instruments during lives (sometimes). They just say that they don't when they appear on TV/in public because it's part of their joke: we're musicians who suck at what we're doing, so much that you either hate or love us this way! They love to appear as big losers in general public's eyes. Though lately they've started to reveal some truth (LOL the fact that the guitarist does know how to play guitar & does play his guitar live sometimes). I found myself crying at the 'revelation' because fans knew it already LOL . They did perform as "Golden Boys" and shit during lives XD The guitarist plays for real when he doesn't do his 'thing' like getting drown in a bathtub and such XD Those who bother to look beyond 'Memeshikute' knew that they don't suck as much as their 'images' suggest  
 
By the way, I've noticed that they don't have many international fans? Either we're really quiet people on the internet or there really are not many of us. This is amusing because they're totally mainstream in Japan. I think that the language barrier is one of the reasons why non-japanese people find it hard to stan them. They have tons of skits and such, and you won't find their skits to be funny (or sweet, even O.O ) if you don't understand japanese.  I'm just a bit lucky because I can understand basic japanese.
 
Okay, enough about Golden Bomber.
So GB is the only band that I'm following now, but I do listen to other bands/groups at the same time. My music taste ranges from tokusatsu to idols to bands like back number, GReeeeN, UVERworld, T.M Revolution, abingdon boys school, Maximum the Hormone and the like, and if it's visual style bands, they're Nightmare, Gazetto (Filth in the Beauty and Silly God Disco are my style), Alice Nine (Q, Tsubasa, Shunkashuuto, Ruri no Ame) and I think GUILD has some catchy songs
 
I can't say that I'm a huge fan of visual-kei in general, because I'm obviously not familiar with tons of vk bands out there (just a casual listener mostly, except for GB), but still, let's get along well ne

One of the issues that stand out the most to me is the difference in promotion. 
 
Kpop goods are easily available and for every release there's a huge PR campaign around it,  as if it was the release of the century. They create insane hype, my sister always goes on about ''so and so is having a comeback'',  here I am thinking they haven't released anything for a year or so,  but it's more like they haven't released anything for a few months and it's celebrated as a comeback. 
In VK they release a teaser and announce 20 different CD types. Guess what? Those CDs cost an arm and a leg. 
Whereas in kpop you get a photo book, stickers, this and that plus the CD at a SUPER affordable price! 
 
Of course this is likely because Kpop is POP therefore they make enough money to be able to sell stuff cheaper. 
 
I think VK was appealing back when scene and emo was huge (like other people mentioned) but now scene fashion is dead,  so is the interest in vk. The look scares people and it seems to be getting more extravagant/stupid by the day. I saw a bandman basically cosplaying voldo (Soul calibur V) for a release a while ago. Let me tell you... Very few people will be comfortable enough to approach a band where a member is voldo. 
In the 80/90s glamrock was a thing, men with make up and feminine looks were seen on daily basis on mainstream TV and androgynous get ups were almost accepted. So maybe VK was embraced more then. 
 
But just a few ideas:
- there's a new rise in interest in gender  non-conforming ideas in the new generation. This could *possibly * bring an interest to VK in the future as the new generation is more curious and open to '' weird looking men. '' 
Rather than embracing rock as a rebellious phase that will go away once they reach adulthood,  it will be something they embracing out of taste and a connection to... ?  I'm not sure how to word this. 
 
- the biggest trend in Western mainstream music is dance music right now. Maybe if we had more VK groups experimenting with that, getting creative then we'd get a revival in the scene.
Look at Purple Stone, they're already having some fun with mixing dance music & VK. If they get the boost in popularity they deserve they could  reach out to broader audiences. There's massive potential in 'panic panic'.
 
-I already mentioned the fashion, but look at GazettE,  an cafe, diru  etc all the bands that were huge in the west back in the day. They were popular around the time their looks were more laid back, nothing too crazy. It just makes me think vk is too extravagant/theatrical right now to appeal to western audiences. How many people are gonna look at Arlequin and not laugh at the singers hair and get up?  Whereas you can look at soft emo GazettE from back in '06-' 09 and easily accept the look.
Kyo back then had blonde hair and less make up than ever before, now that bitch is dressing up as a nun.  (I'm all for that,  but other people slowly back away when I show them) 
 
This could be just a bad period for the scene,  we'll look back in years and say ' remember the great lame period of '10-'16?.   We just need to keep hoping for those few bands in vk who will dare to be creative and their risks will pay off.
