oh no i actually really like this track oh no now i'm sad about mucc
  2. diryangrey

i love CDs; i spent stupid amounts of money on them & have shelves full i like to look at & enjoy the visual art inside of i can't think of any way i'd more prefer to purchase & collect music but if i wanted the absolute highest audio quality i'd just download it from bandcamp..... idk what the point tho is of anything more lossless than 320mp3 unless you're in a lifted tuned room w/ flat monitors & no AC etc running
  3. diryangrey

i'm in love with strong flavoured spicy food, so (central) vietnamese, hunanese, & ethiopian cuisine are so far unbeatable for me~
  4. diryangrey

i couldn't stand the official release but tbh Miya's mixing makes a huuuuge difference still not top 5 or even top 50% of mucc albums lol but imho there's no reason for me to ever listen to the original master instead of Miya's
  5. question for translators - how do y'all translate 揺られ? it's the weirdest 'word' in that the concept is easy enough to grasp but idk what even english word usually gets across the meaning without sounding kitschy / out of place af

i would probably translate it as 'swayed/wavered' or even 'swaying/wavering', but the meaning can change depending on context. sometimes if there's no fitting word for it i would try to convey it in a different way without losing too much of the original meaning. hope that helps...?

  6. ミスイ's バカ is legit the first & only 100% good thing that's happened in my life since covid

柳 was one of the first vocalists i heard back in 2010 when i was getting into the scene - it's like both no time passed & you can hear the 6 years of improvement

damn now i'm remembering back when vkei made me feel things

do you have a few releases you would recommend right off the bat? im not sure how lengthy their discog is but if it is id probably prefer just a couple albums and singles atm

  7. diryangrey

a lot of comparisons of this album to 脈拍 but am i the only person who loves that album but struggles to understand the raison d'être of this one? i mean, why did this album need to exist? the B-sides between 脈拍 & now make a better album, no? tho i'm definitely amused by wondering how the conversation w/ 葉月 went like hey can you just go bbbrrrrrrrrrr into a mic for us, we'll turn it into a song don't worry
  8. diryangrey

bc if there's one thing vkei bands are known for it's being very polite & light-hearted always lmao you're probably right tho
  9. diryangrey

i know literally nothing about this band yet would bet good money this is just a joke/stunt & probably one specifically targeted @ rands at that
  10. Gianizm REKT (could also be like React but rekt is more fun) (this coming to you from the same band who published The Dool)
  11. diryangrey

this album's WEIRD but i'd rather have a few more strange ones like this than a hundred alright albums that do just fine. not sure why the 'are they vkei or aren't they' debate is so lively when the music sounds more vkei than 鵬翼 & their looks are more vkei than 達郎's in 心のない町's PV. between this & DEZERT i'd say rather than declaring individual bands to have fallen off the vkei wagon we're seeing the early phases of another branch of this scene, like what we english-speakers call oshare/nagoya/angura/art kei. indie kei? i think it could be a thing & would love to see more of it tbh retsu could put out a full album of SEs & i'd enjoy it - maybe that's bc i don't listen to enough actual IDM or Flying Lotus et al but either way it pauses & carries the mood of Misc. & CHE DO A RA both nicely; this is a hill i'll absolutely die on. 7/10 imho is the perfect rating for this album to end up with - every album dimlim puts out seems like a different band's debut & i hope they stay around to make 10+ more

do you mind if i try to defend Retsu's guitar? i LOVE gretsch, they're my fav aside from fender, but compared to fender are so uncommon to see in vkei - yutori from pentagon plays deusenbergs which are pretty similar but that's usually the closest i've seen i have no idea if this track was actually recorded on that guitar or not but the solo makes me think it was - their pickups are like this middle ground between the crisp bubbliness of fenders' & 'heavier' humbuckers but without that watery mid-boosted PRS sound. it's pretty muddy & unclear & regardless of all that, totally personal taste but i like the contrast of small dude / tight unaccessorized clothes w/ the giant-ass guady guitar that'd be no one's first association w/ a darker styled band. + the white guitar / black clothes makes that contrast seem more purposeful. sorry for the huge answer but i love dumb things like this - bands that fuck w/ what's expected in smaller ways that almost seem accidental
  14. not always this obv but check out these two songs by definitely different bands which are definitely written by different people youtube.com/watch?v=ltiqDDlqDYA youtube.com/watch?v=x9PJZlUJtyQ
  15. hey shit is this new naitomea news on their twitter for the first time since their hiatus?

  16. i could def be wrong on this but i think they just hosted a few of their videos? like they did for ログ & Londboy before they became 零[hz] - but afaik none of those three were listed as BP's bands beyond just showing up on their channel
  17. my band put up a PV today - we're something like shoegaze/trip-hop. Vkei's basically 90% of my musical 'inspiration' tho so hopefully i manage to let that come across.

Actually this song probably makes it pretty clear how much of an influence baroque's Planetary Secret became to how i write.

  18. diryangrey

on twitter they uploaded like fifty pictures of him smiling & interacting w/ the audience at the BiS/BiSH LSN lives back when that happened, so i'd guess probably not lol
  19. diryangrey

came here to see if i was the only one who thought this - i wonder if the animators were the same group
  20. diryangrey

...does this mean i'm the only person who thinks Ganges & Namaatatakai Ame are by far the best songs they've ever done
  21. https://wedonthaveaname.bandcamp.com/album/demo these guys are tied w/ dfhvn for my fav band to come out of this whole scene
  22. diryangrey

first of all congrats on going on stage, that's legit - & shoutout to mea, i love that band too. kinda going off what Aimi said, if you're not opposed to it try recording yourself at home, as you practice as if you were performing. don't worry too much about quality like just use a webcam or an iphone sat in a corner, just decent enough quality you can make out how you sound & look & i don't mean to assume your knowledge here so apologies if this is something you're already aware of, but bc you say roumaji - might be worth checking your pronunciation to make sure you're getting it right, bc even though japanese follows its pronunciation rules pretty tightly & doesn't do weird shit like english (like how read & read are read differently) - learning only the roumaji & speaking it exactly as you would an english word written w/ those letters isn't always correct
  23. diryangrey

honestly i feel like it's just got a good deal to do w/ vkei bands (at least all the ones you mentioned) tending to change up their style between albums a lot more than western bands usually do, so there's more capacity to do something different w/ an older song before i got into vk black metal was my main scene, and there were a decent few artists (Ulver and Fleurety off the top of my head) who'd do that same thing, start out real typical of a style, get bored & fuck around w/ genres, have more money to spend, and have something interesting to do w/ a remake. for bands who stay to one sound mainly, there's not really much reason to do those & i feel like that honestly describes the average western rock/metal/punk group more usually than the average vk band. reflecting a new lineup's a good point tho, i'm kinda talking out of my ass here but i feel like vkei promotion/management takes a lot from the idol industry (that's where the whole one-colour-per-member thing some bands do came from, right?) & that's something that's done a good deal there - & i'm sure there's a sliding scale of cynicism to both, like yeah reusing tracks is faster, cheaper, & takes less writing but also it lets new members in on old shit so that's cool all that being said, i can't honestly think of any examples from the vkei sphere where i actually liked the remake better.
  24. diryangrey

i'm so glad i'm not the only one who loved karma, there's just so much different shit going on in that record but tbh it all really connects
  25. diryangrey

if this release confirms anything for me it's that the original mix & master of the first three albums was a huge part of why i loved those songs - & they work better as parts of an album than singles. bring back too-trebly overcompressed reverby 2000s kei plz
