Well shit. Oh well, I still think that song is in the spirit of that album.
-
I’m almost certain the band didn’t approach the “origins” concept with the intentions of retreading old songs. If anything it’s more like they used their entire discography as an inspiration. You could probably place each song on Arche on a past album and have them fit. And the reason I think that is because during the Mode of lives they chose specific Arche songs to place in each set list. Which reminds me, does anyone know if they played Cause of Fickleness during the Mode of Withering to Death tour?

How in the world is Tousei anything like Kodou? The usage of a wah pedal?
-
This barely counts as a DEG song to me since they just slapped Kyo’s vocal track over a different band.
-
A motif? So you think DEG’s intent was to make a call back to Gaika? Seems as big as a stretch as the theory that Utafumi is a lyrical sequel to The Final.
-
Anyway, I hated The Inferno until I realized the riff was sort of, like, slowly mutating over the course of the song. If there’s anything really wrong with it, it’s the placement. It sounds really jarring coming after an atmospheric post-rock dirge
-
Two outros that are at a slower tempo than the rest of the song, and they both come after a break in the music. That’s... where the similarities end, really. And what does it matter?

Kyo eats strawberry Pocky Kaoru eats dry toast Die drinks beer Toshiya eats spicy ramen Shinya doesn’t eat

Any time a band refuses to put themselves into a genre, it’s just because they’re giving themselves a blank slate to do whatever without fans saying “hey that’s not [insert genre here]!” However, about 90% of the time over the last 10+ years, DEG is metal as fuck.

I can’t speak for anyone else, I just don’t care what they look like. Any band for that matter.
-
I think Kyo’s vocal delivery in that song bugs me more than Shinya’s drumming. YAAAYAAAAYAAAYAAAAYAAAOOWW YAAAYAAAYAAAAYAAAAAOWWW GROOOGROOOOGROOOO YABBAYABBAYABBAYABBAAAOOWW

Well that was the most boring thing I’ve heard so far today.
-
You know, like gone for a while then making a return. A comeback.
-
I was under the impression Kyo got a vocal coach after the polyps fiasco. Or was his new approach to vocals in the last five years just a result of it?
-
That song is hardly a showcase for flexing one’s vocal muscle. Die sounds fine, but there isn’t much range there.
-
I’ll be amazed the day Kyo doesn’t double his vocals for a chorus. (No need to point out songs where he doesn’t. He does it more often than not.)
-
Un deux’s chorus is strong as fuck.

Utafumi could have been on Withering to death. It’s more like a Beautiful Dirt 2.0.
-
I will concede that is probably the best performance of Decayed Crow that I’ve seen, but the song still blows. Sorry, but I can’t ignore Shinya’s lame ass drum patterns. All I hear is a guy with noodles for arms and his shoes on the wrong feet.
-
They gave themselves time between Beautiful Deformity and Dogma too. Soooo...
-
Decayed Crow is a mess on record. It’s not even heavy, it’s just a bunch of noise and I hate it.
