We're not grouping by race though, we are grouping based on where the bands are located/have their main activities. Which is why we agreed for example that DISREIGN (whatever happened to them) would be allowed in the J-Rock forum as their base of operations is in Japan. If we were grouping by race we'd have all kinds of trouble trying to determine racial composition of bands, and I know most of us staff would rather not become hobby eugenicists on the account of keeping the Japanese Rock scene racially pure. We said the same to the people who, as opposed of your opinion, demanded that we remove bands with one or more foreign members from the VK section entirely.
 
The question was raised a while ago and it was this conclusion we came to as a team, but I on a personal level would be open to a Visual (International) sub-forum to differentiate from the other foreign acts. More and more proficient musicians overseas are starting to identify with the term so I could see there being an eventual demand for one.

hi!! i know it's almost march, but in the spirit of "tradition" here are my end-of-year lists, which i've almost forgotten to do if it weren't for some friends who have been asking  
 
as the title of this post implies, here are the releases i enjoyed most from 2017 without staking any claim for them being the "best." in fact it's likely that you'll either love most of them or hate all of them as i have scant patience for artificially padding my lists in some vague interest of showcasing "variety."
 
there are 3 lists in total: top 10 albums & mini albums, top 10 singles, top 10 limited releases (i.e. distros, live-limited, digital releases, etc.) i apologize for not having time to write comments for individual releases as i used to, but i'll be delighted to know your thoughts if you have any (either specific or general) so feel free to leave a comment below <333
 
 
Top 10 Albums & Mini Albums
 
In this list I omitted best albums or compilations of sorts. I figured this is the only way to avoid a situation where the list is dominated by a bunch of disbanding bands pitting their entire discographies against one another (glamhaze, BLESSCODE, Astaria, BLaive, etc.) which is frankly quite ridiculous. This also means, sadly, that Purple Stone's album is out, even if i fucking love it ;_;
 
overall this is the weakest list among the three. there were a lot of releases in the bracket that ranges from 'enjoyable' to 'very good' but there wasn't one that really blew the rest out of the water. and yes, i potentially hear shouts of 'is this even vk??' but i'm not about to wade into that debate lol. btw shin is sexy, yup

as always this is where all the competition lies. GARAK'S, Acephale, DEVIZE, Dangan no LIMIT, IGGY, LAVANS, CLOWD, Jack+MW all put out releases that didn't make the list but had songs that i'd be happy to loop on end for a couple of weeks.
 
 
 
Top 10 Limited Releases
 
aka "the great depression." honestly, making this list every year is always an emotionally draining experience. this year is without doubt the worst: of the 10 bands here, only 1.5 survives today (anfiel, and sheepsleep in their new lineup without kairu). everyone else is gone T____T still, i continue to do it because a lot of bands here are particularly close to my heart and i think of this as a way of paying tribute to how huge a part these bands/bandmen have played in my life. #1 here is also #1 of the year for me.

They first performed their new song ガラス越しの君へ last month at a live I was at, and I still can't get over how emotional Ohayuuki got when he was singing it T_T I'm glad they were able to at least record it and put it in their last album <333 Gonna listen to it and die 123712938 times haha 
 

Oh my, i pretty much joined TW in the beginning. Back then i was a more or less active Tonberry member and jake posted there about tw if i remember right. I still know how there was this policy to have at least 100 posts to be able to access download section and i pretty much spammed the forum until i got the 100 posts lol.
 
Not sure how much really needs to be said again without repeating all the other stories in this thread, but its safe to say that TW/MH was and still is a big part of my life and i met so many amazing people here.
 
I experencied all the drama, for better or worse and like ito mentioned earlier, i still remember the gay egyptians like it was yesterday. 
I remember how Champ first did a rarez christmas bag and i was inspired by it and did like 2 or 3 of my own? Joining the mod team back in the day was a blast and i wouldnt have missed it even though i was pretty fed up with everything by the end of it. Of course i still remember the "big revolt" WhirlingBlack already mentioned and while it maybe looked as an insult for some people back then, it was something valuable for the forum.
The Golden years of the chat were just amazing and this thread really reminded me how i miss these times. WHERE ARE THE CHATLOGS? WHERE IS  SAI?

finally managed to get phase faith's 'WILL' after a couple of years of wondering if it was ever released, together with their new single which i never knew existed either o.o;
as well as: yoh's beautiful song he wrote for his bro's wedding, anfiel's re-recording of 'timeless' distributed at their 3rd anniv one-man on 1/21, and lux's dvd they gave out before their last live on 1/22.

I have to sadly agree. I  was at their mini album release party/concert together with marco and nüe and even that had at most 30 people maybe and as far as i saw almost no one even bought the album.

Its just what he does.

Three episodes into Mindhunter and this is top notch so far, and Cameron Britton is the fucking shit. He is so good!

In a bizarre PR move, tensai. member Karuto will bike (as in, on a bicycle, not a motorbike) from Osaka to Tokyo to promote their free one-man at Ikebukuro Black Hole on 12/11.
His journey will begin at noon on December 1st from Like an Edison Osaka.

There are various rules and stipulations, the first involving how much money he'll be taking with him.
His credit cards will be confiscated, and he will be given 10 yen x the amount of retweets that the embedded tweet receives.
At the time of posting, that's about ~16,000 yen.

[Rules]
①He must arrive at the goal within 7 days of departure.
②He will be given missions to earn money during his trip.
③He will distribute tickets for their show to fans he meets along the way.
④Money will be taken from him if he neglects to tweet before he goes to bed.
⑤He must visit designated stops.
⑥Their "super roadie" Yuuma will be sent with him as part of his roadie hazing on guard duty.

Airish will disband after their current performance schedule (I'm assuming it's at 2018/1/5 as that is the last live listed on their OHP) and their planned best album and new album will be rescinded.
