These selections of mine are ones that have not been mentioned before on any project of the ORZ, so not all of my favourites are gathered here (save for a few select song favourites from some albums that have been previously mentioned in BNTs). To check out the rest I enjoyed, see the Staff album selections.   Because I have so many picks for this year since I got to a lot more music than in 2014, I'm going to be posting a handful of releases one by one within two days, preferably in a weeks amount of time. That's 70 picks! After picking out from what I had gotten to throughout the year and enjoyed, I ended up with a good 112 releases I adored from this rather 'weak' year alone (laugh with me, go ahead!), so I just HAD to feature an honorable mentions for the lot I was forced to remove to whittle down the ever growing list.   Be sure to look out for the bold yellow text = HONORABLE MENTIONS and bold red text = TOP TIER ALERTS (top tier means I found the whole release to be perfect) whilst you're at it! Every release has bolded tracks that indicate my favorite songs on the particular release and a shortish description of the sound/genres.   This list isn't ranked but in alphabetical order. I can't write such well in English, so I decided to just make a list.

I'll stick to individual songs instead of full releases, in no special order, so let's go!
 

xTRiPx - good trip.
 
Such a heartfelt song, a thank you for all those years. It so on point that really makes me question why disbanding when they were clearly on their best shape. Ena is a BEAST here, I'm afraid D=OUT won't do justice to him. A powerful, bittersweet end note for my favorite band. Let's meet again for sure.
 
 

develop one's faculties - insert memory.
 
This song gives me fucking hope in the future. DOF never ceases to amaze me with their guitarwork, and yuya's voice and quirks really works. And then comes that chorus. Thats utter brilliance in everyone's face, guys! The voice layering on each other, makes a funky, banger song turn into an emotional rollercoaster that you really should not miss. DON'T YOU DARE TO MISS THE OTHER SONGS ON REINCARNATION, THO. 'it is what it is.', 'for', 'Frasco wo Furu to Tenbin Yureta', 'Negative baby', 'hope', 'Shunkanteki Shoudou no Hate ni Ushinatta Shunkan' are all absolutely amazing, enough to make this the album of the year for me.
 

SuG - Kagerou (LOL, thx Tetora)
 
I had to choose one song from their 'BLACK' album, and this is the one. This is SuG in what they do best. Since MISSING, their style has changed for the better, and even if you have any kind of prejudice with them, should totally give 'BLACK' a listen, one of my top contenders of 2015. Which was a fucking shitty year for me, and this song quite helped me going through, love the lyrics here. Other high notes on the album: 'Ichirentakushou', 'MISSING', 'overflow', 'CRY OUT', 'time after time', 'BLACK'.
 

MORRIGAN - Betrayal:Cocytus
 
MORRIGAN is probably my favorite new band of 2015. they shelled out so many songs, and most of them rocks my ass! Was difficult to choose just one, so I've just went with the one I think is the most their most emotional piece. Nice lyrics aswell! Please also check 'Everlasting', 'UNDER WORLD END 'XISS', 'SELFISH RUSSIAN', 'EUTHANASIA', 'UNDERWORLD'.
 
 

MY BACTERIA HEAT ISLAND - Mezameru nifun Mae
 
The whole MIMIC mini-album is AMAEZENG, as most of their disco, truth to be told. Again, had to chose the song that directly talked to me, and this was the one. If I had to choose one song to introduce Tenten to someone, this would be the one (Actually, Praparat 1st ver. but moving on). Now go give that mini a spin and terrorize your neighbours with Tenten bad english shouts on their skull!
 

DIAWOLF - Turbulence
 
DIAWOLF's Rebellion mini was not bad, but Turbulence is on another level. They really stepped up here, the whole mini is really really nice. It was a toss up between 'Turbulence' and 'Afterglow', but the title track gets the prize for its composition. Check the whole release, Shou's improved english, pronunciation and lyric-wise was a nice really touch!
 

PELICAN FANCLUB - Dali
 
This song revived my love for indie. The guitar work here totally reminds me of Two Door Cinema Club, which is a hell of a compliment for them. This song has EVERYTHING to be commercially viable on the west, for radio time, indie festivals and everything. Besides the vocalist. Not that he is bad, not at all, I quite like it, really. It's just not fit for western ears, unfortunately. Other high notes on the mini: 'Variety Mania Talent System', 'Police City'.
 

the GazettE - RAGE
 
Maybe DOGMA wasn't what everyone was expecting, but was good enough for me, much better than some of their previous recent efforts. Following a concept really worked for them, but they really should give up SOME of their formulaic styles of composition. I know, RAGE is not the best song on the album, and really is part of the rehashed formula I mentioned above, but LEAVE ME ALONE, OK? I like it. Other great tunes on the album: 'DOGMA', 'OMINOUS' (which  are both better than 'RAGE'), 'INCUBUS', 'DEUX'.
 
 

REALies - Ano Kage no Naka de
 
One word to describe it. Emotional. Rayka pours his everything in this one. They really saved their best for last. It's another thank-you, bittersweet goodbye note that shows the best REALies could do. Go listen to it, right now. As Rayka said, I hope this song reaches deeper in your chest aswell.
 

Shounenki - WEAKNESS_MY BLOOD
 
Shounenki DELIVERS. They just DELIVER. THEY WILL NAIL IT if not on the A-side, the B-sides come to rescue, as happened with 'BANG ME' (please don't hate me). This wasn't the case tho, WEAKNESS_MY BLOOD is absolutely great, and makes up for the weaker b-side. Kou's shouting, failing voice in the end of this song is so fantastic, make this song sound TRUE. And oh my god, it's CATCHY. You will be all LEEEET ME KNOW MY BLOOOOOD MY BLOOOOD all the way around.
 

amber gris - Absolute Being
 
to end the 'OH COME ON GUYS, WHY THE FUCK YOU ARE DISBANDING?' comes amber gris. Seriously, WHY? Absolute Being is their last effort that proves they still had so much steam to burn. Temari vocals are beautiful as usual, and while it may not be the best on their disco ('wishstar and sunlight and darkness' takes that prize) this song has a sense of grandeur that really gave closure to such an awesome band, that ones that gives you flashbacks of their best moments.
 

BAROQUE - SWALLOW THE NIGHT
 
BAROQUE'S PLANETARY SECRET was quite a disappointment for a lot of people, but not for me. It was what I expected from them, a step forward from the style kei and Ryo followed on the final years of kannivalism. 'SWALLOW THE NIGHT' embraces their new style, while paying respects for their past with kei's intense guitar work. Everything in this song just CLICKS. Don't be afraid to try it, to dive on the atmosphere they brought to you in this album. Other great songs: 'PLANETARY LIGHT', 'DREAMSCAPE', 'SILENT PICTURE'

Kind of pleasantly surprised to see Atlantis Airport here. I knew you liked them, but not this much. Good choice, though - they're really promising! Kind of reminds me of mid 00's J-indie-pop bands.
 
You're also right, I'd never heard of Controversial Spark, but they sound pretty pleasant. May have to check them out.

@doombox, I have THE BEETHOVEN and EACH OF THE DAYS in my folder already to give a listen to and seeing them here from you is more than encouraging to check them out sooner rather than later. I'm going to have to check out Presence of Soul and Boku no lyric no bouyomi while I'm at it. Hot damn, never seen either of them around before but wow, totally awesome!
 
@CAT5, I've tried Girrafepot before and thought it was a solo dude. o-o The Cheserasera has a neat melody to their song, and if I remember correctly, weren't they mentioned in last years album selections or somewhere? The two splits are great, especially Marmalade butcher as you know. Didn't even know who they were so thanks for that! It's only a matter of time for nowisee to release more than just singles, yes please. Not surprised with the BUPPON pick. xp Such Samurai Champloo sounding, hopefully my likes in the rap department gets better over time to get to loving that track, lol.

I think you might enjoy koochewsen/hitorie/good on the reel!
koochewsen are really charming. i dont know what it is, but they have a certain style/sound/look that is their own and separates them from other bands. meawhile, while i enjoy good on the reel, i still think they sound like other 10 bands i like - you know what i mean? 
hitorie are very unique as well and you should definitely check them out!! i added their MV to my post!

YES DELKI YES! I've only given the album two listens but it's already up there for me with Träumerei, Dona Dona and ammonite. There's only two songs on the album I don't completely adore (告白 (Kokuhaku) and スラッシングパンプキン•デスマーチ (Thrashing pumpkin death march). A beautiful album beautifully done, or maybe I'm just hella biased, lol. When looking at it compared to the rest of their discography, it's easily one of their best imo. A coherent album that keeps at it throughout its whole run. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be one of my favourites of theirs, since their recent PVs didn't really cut it for me at first. I'm glad I could enjoy them as much as I always have in the end.

Loving this layout of yours! Such variety! I've honestly only listed to Kuroyuri to Kage's and Ame no Parade's albums, with which I enjoyed them both, but I'm very intrigued with the rest. That especially goes for Koochewsen (thank you Kels-sama), hitorie, GOOD ON THE REEL and pony. Yet ANOTHER musician to add to my ever growing Korean music to check out. I've never really tried GOOD ON THE REEL but I've liked what I've heard. I know of other members who are a fan of hitorie, and with the Vocaloid link, I wish I could get into them more so I'll keep this release in mind. Koochewsen just seems so cool, I MUST finally get to it! You can how to sell! Short and sweet, love it~

To me this was the comeback of Gazette I had been waiting for, they got back to a place where I could finally be excited to hear new things from them. A well thought-out album that feels like it was conceived as such, instead of being a compilation of songs or singles.

AKi – ARISE, EPHEMERAL


He came out with a stripped down sound and youthful approach that some might not expect, and not everybody will enjoy. I personally loved it. Simple and fun.
 
FAR EAST DIZAIN – TONICK DIZAIN

This album definitely rocks. Some great lyrics, interesting guitar work that goes very low on the spectrum, and some rocking songs like The War Went On and Blank Space.
 
Blu-BiLLioN – GENESIS

A great album by them. You really feel plugged in to what the vocalist is feeling.
 
DIV – SECRET

Okay, I didn`t appreciate that there were barely any new songs, and no killer tracks like DIV is more than capable of, but I still have to admit it is a great album if you take a step back and look at it.
 
コドモドラゴン –下克上。

A heavier release that does not contain as many catchy moments as their first album, but is still great altogether. It may be more of a grower than an instant turn-on. If you just let it play, you start to get the feel of it.

Develop One`s Faculties - reincarnation

Definitely one of the break-through`s of the year. A resurgence of the classic `band-playing` feel, great vocals, and songs that leave a strong impression.
 
vistlip – LAYOUT

Great album with emotion and delivery. The feeling is one of a kind.
 
Kra – 次の物語

Their most cohesive release in a little while. Not quite as rocking as some would wish, but still great altogether. If you are a fan, it contains great moments, though leaves you wanting more (like more guitar!).
 
BORN – LIVE THE STALIN

Possibly the most rocking release of the year for me, they absolutely kill it live, and you have to appreciate how he can still pull off his vast array of voicings in a hectic live show. If you really enjoy the head-banging element of BORN the live songs almost outperform their studio versions.
 
BAROQUE – PLANETARY SECRET

A new direction that really left an impression on me. Swallow The Night is one of my favorite songs, and the awesome guitar always pops into my mind making me listen to it again and again.
 
DOG inTheパラレルワールドオーケストラ– パラドッグス

They went in a different direction as well with this one, creating an album based on their past, present and future.
 
ユナイト – UNiVERSE

The grower of the year for me. At first I was very disappointed by this, but after a long time, I started to appreciate it more, and can now see it as a great album. Hard to explain, but the band creates huge expectations, though this does definitely deliver once you get over the fact that not every song is wild ride through UNiTE-ville.
 
SuG – BLACK

For me this is the greatest release of the year, and one of the most well-made albums I have ever heard. I have always loved a deep tonic sound mastered to cover the full spectrum, creating a sonic environment that is rich in detail and a pleasure to sit back and listen to, examining the different parts. The song-writing is amazing, at times taking elements from their influences, and making them their own, and at times creating their own completely fresh sound. Every track is great, every member performs the best that they ever have, and everything is so different yet it all fits together into one amazing album that gets better with every listen.

MINI-ALBUM`S
 
MORRIGAN - ブラック・ルシアン

Very interesting, darker band. What I like most is the atmosphere they create.
 
umbrella -キネマトグラフ

Really loved the emotion coming from this single, the longing that was projected throughout.
 
nue – mother

As I said before, nue really mixes it up and this release shows that. Very different tracks to explore, and a very melancholy sound.
 
My BACTERIA HEAT IsLAND – MIMIC

The youthful feeling I got from this band was something I really enjoyed. They had a different approach to their sound which was very interesting. All of their releases were great.
 
ムック– T.R.E.N.D.Y. -Paradise from 1997-

Amazingly well made mini from them. Track after track has that now signature MuCC `different` feeling about it, and they pulled it all off very well. The tracks feel a lot less linear on this one, and it`s a pleasure to listen to.
 
DIAWOLF – Rebellion, Turbulence

 

Really love them. Very experimental, without sounding like they are `just experimenting`. I already feel like they have such a deep and varied library after just two releases. A stand-out is definitely Show`s lyrics, which feel much more real and emotional than his other work in recent years.
 
BORN –オルタナティヴ・タランチュラ

Their most complex release. They really went somewhere else with this one, while still being able to have some moments of classic heavy BORN. They did a lot of things I didn`t know they could, and have become one of the most exciting bands for me to hear new material from. Overall a very cohesive release with lots of greats moments in each track that I keep going back to.

SID – 漂流

Another great SID single, as expected.
 
MEJIBRAY – 盈虧

They have really been mixing it up lately, some like it, some don`t. I really liked the dark and low-fi sound of this one.
 
SMOKIN` SICK STYLE!!!
 
DOG inTheパラレルワールドオーケストラ – メテオライト

DOG played it somewhat safe this year after killing it last year. Another great single with slight play on their signature sound keeping it fresh.
 
少年記 – WEAKNESS_MY BLOOD, ココロモンスター

 

 
One of the stand-out band`s in recent times. They have been following a formula yet still make everything sound fresh, and exciting. Again, great melodies, a pop element that doesn`t compromise their rock sound, and amazing work overall.
 
ユナイト –マーブル

 
The B-Sides really are what I love and long for the most from this band. One of the most killer tracks of the year from LiN, and great performances all around.
 
WING WORKS – RAVVE OF MY TRINITY

Title track is an absolute blast to listen to. This is the kind of energy that I can always appreciate. This single put him near the top of my watch-list.
 
Royz – THE BEGINNING

A bit of a different almost Codomo sound here for another solid Royz release bringing what I really like about them, attitude.
 
己龍/Royz/コドモドラゴン - FAMILY PARTY

A budget-buster, but absolutely worth it. Absolutely epic release with tons of great tracks and one of the funnest tracks of the year as its center-piece. Really shows how great the bands are and why they are taking over.
 
Purple Stone -アオイヤミ

My favorite release by them. It`s catchy and it rocks. Break The World is just too sweet.
 
NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST - PROVIDENCE

At their best with their great mix of Visual and Heavy elements creating something that is harsh and holds your attention throughout.
 
ALSDEAD – INAZUMA

Perhaps the farewell by an amazing band that left behind quite a discography. One of the best storyteller`s in terms of lyrics, and a great band behind him, with another standout in guitar work.

Some of the deepest and well written singles. This band has been bringing it for a long time now. One of a kind for sure. Every track is different, but no matter the style or how many things they have going on, they just seem to `get it`.
 
DIV - イケナイKISS

Mind-blowing single in terms of sound, approach, delivery, etc… I just have to put it at the top of my list for the feeling I get each time I listen to this single.

Here is my list of favorites for 2015, separated into format, then split into a new ranking system that expresses just how much I enjoyed the release. The releases are all listed in order descending down to my absolute favorites of the year. I hope that the list expresses my personal pleasure from the release, and does not seek to rate releases and artist`s against each other in a material way. Please note that I narrowed down the list, and that there are many other works which I enjoyed throughout the year as well.

Smileberry – NO MORE CRY

A new band filling in the drought of upbeat kawaii some have been feeling. They pull it off without sounding too derivative or forced.
 
LEZARD –かくれんぼ

It took a little while to take to this band, but they have been growing on me with a fun lighter approach that can get more serious when needed.
 
nue – サイレン

Definitely a band putting extra ingredients into their recipe. All sorts of sounds get mixed together from 90`s Visual, New Wave, etc… Pretty cool.
 
摩天楼オペラ – ether

Has one of their more rocking B-Sides in a with an old-school guitar lick that I love to put on replay. Distinct track mix that is very well done.
 
RUVISH – ATOMIC MIRROR

Catchy and melodic, they have changed a bit but still put out some nice tracks.
 
テキーラ東京– Kung-Fu Lady

 
A very original side project with a very different lead track, and the signature Kra huge potential that sadly doesn`t get as far as their skill would seem to deserve.
 
Neverland – HumaNOISE, Heart sleep


 
Another band that has changed quite a bit, but I enjoy their different sounds.
 
Milia∞ - innocence

 
Very nice, strong melodies, and a great atmosphere.
 
CRAZY!
 
R SHITEI –サドマゾ

 
Have been getting more and more into this band. Very popular despite being quite dark and heavy, although they do mix in softer moments unexpectedly, like in this single.
 
Moran –夜明けを前に

 
Another great release, perhaps their final one.
 
Blu-BiLLioN -  Refrain / 心灯-こころび-, Resonance-共鳴- / モノクロの花
 

 

This band has definitely been killing it and has gotten very popular. Not what I typically listen to but they definitely broke down that barrier and became one of my favorites with high-pitched songs containing vivid lyrics and storytelling.
 
UVERworld – I LOVE THE WORLD,  僕の言葉ではない これは僕達の言葉


 
Rocking singles that are a lot of fun to listen to. A slightly different sound than their previous work but they pull it off well.

I thought their フィクションØ album was atrocious honestly, but this single saved CLØWD for me.

I normally don't like short songs that are like 2mins long but Take_53 was a banger.

Obviously the title track was fucking amazing too.

I couldn't care less if some of their songs sound similar to each other.

These guys are brilliant with their catchy compositions.

Holy shit did I hate the cheesy music video for this single but the song delivered. 

They kept the catchiness of SECRET NIGHT and made a banger with イケナイKISS.

I miss how DIV used to sound but they pull off space-club-electro-rock flawlessly.

2015 is finished, welcome 2016 and with it its lot of future releases.
Best & favourites are suggestive and may not please everyone but still, let’s try to do a personal selection. Those tracks & albums has been selected for its replay value + the ‘love at first hearing’ thing. Because there’s definitely something in these tracks that attract me for good and want to destroy the repeat button. xD doesn't mean that I didn't liked the others tracks from album x (for example), just that if I had to choose one or two songs off this release, this would be my choice.

They took a classic and remade it perfectly onto a sick track. The synths brings really something more.

I love everything in this song; the piano, the solos, Sui’s singing, the verse and chorus, I could put this song on repeat again and again. So epic.

I’m on a love/hate relationship with MEJ, but I enjoyed this song a lot. Dunno if it’s the symphonic background, or the addictive chorus, ambiance or something. I really love this song, I wish they'd continue in this path...

スノウィブルー(snowy blue) & エインシャントソング, by メガマソ(megamasso) / PV SONG
1st track: Probably my most listened track off this year. What can I say more? The verse already is addictive, let the chorus begins and it’s heaven. Impossible to be bored with this song xD
2nd song: My biggest surprise of 2015, what an insolent idea! Delightful track and voice, I'm especially in love with the synths! Now I'm waiting impatiently for a reverse track xD

DOGMA & OMINOUS, by the GazettE / SONG1 PV2
Their latest album may not please everyone for reasons, but these two song stands out and each time I’m like “wow. just wow.” I’m totally amazed with the ambiance and creativity.
