I don't care much about DEG, but I have a friend that has seen them a lot of times, and he says that their festival performances are way worse than the regular live performances.

They did not talk to the crowd at all but were kinda acting... Mysterious (?)... Is guess joking with the crowd would not really fit into their act. They are basically the way they have always been like: kyo is first off stage and Die stays the longest and during the live they all stare into the crowd

Listening now, the lyrics really fit Dir en Grey as an opening act lol. And yeah, whenever I have seen them live it has been similar, no MC or anything, not something I mind though, they have a very good presentation in their own style.
