DS is finally live! We're a bit exhausted at the moment as we've been finalizing a lot of things today in anticipation of the launch. So forgive me for not having much to say right now!

@Miasma: If you want a scrollbar, it is easy, just right click to the playlist, and choose settings, go to style tab, and set scrollbar to default

The time has finally arrived. While we're wrapping the last few items up on our to-do list, we are going to go ahead and open the gates for the first wave of "beta" staff members. At this time we don't have any inclination to how many people we'll initially select within this first wave (perhaps around 6 people, depending on what roles people apply for). If you're interested, continue on!

Data Entry
The one is pretty simple. A data entry position entails entering band, artist, and discography information into the main database for display on DS. No previous experience required.
 
Skills Needed
Decent writing capabilities Research skills Notes
We do not allow pre-written information (from Wikipedia and the like) to be directly copy/pasted, word for word as biographical information. Decent writing skills are required to make something coherent and grammatically correct based off of research done for each band.
 

 
Writer
Writers have a pretty far range. They may write articles about bands and their history, reviews on albums, events they've been to (we'll look into the ability to obtain press passes), fashion or style trends, and pretty much anything else relevant to the site's interest.

Translator
We do not pump things through Google translate here. We have real people dissecting and translating Japanese material. It can be horribly painful and time consuming, so we love our translators very much! (we love all our staff, really) This job will include translation of song lyrics, interviews, articles, etc.

so yesterday we celebrated our first month of marriage.
 

A lot of you have asked what Deadeyes-star is. In short, it'll be a Japanese music database. It's purpose is to close in the gap between english speaking fans and the Japanese music scene.
 
For years I've used JaME and other related websites to try and track down bands, stay up to date on new releases, and find information on their releases. There really is no definitive place to find all this information. There's Last.FM, JaME, Visunavi, grassthreads, and even YouTube. Deadeyes-star aims to combine the best of all these resources into one, and building a community around it.
 
Above you'll find a lovely screenshot of the first sneak peek at what the website will be when its first released. One of the problems I've made, is holding everything off until I had everything complete. Well - in reality this method will never work. So the plan is to release the website in stages, with each stage building up off the other adding new features and fixing bugs as we move along.
 
The second problem we made, was trying to keep everything a secret. From now on, everything will be announced publicly. I've even come to terms that this is a project I can't pull off by myself. Right now the team consists of me and Manda. I work on the actual develop and coding of the website, where manda focuses on the design and graphics. We'd like this to grow to help in development.
 
Soon, I'll make another post to recruit for help if you think you or anyone you know may want to join in on the development side of this.

Seems a bit silly that you're tracking label type but not the actual label XD

The band module slated for the initial opening of DS is complete. With this first version we'll be tracking the following information in regards to bands:

If available, a live twitter feed will also be present on the band profile page.
 
With that, I am working on the integration between DS and the forum - adding the ability to use your MH account details to set up an account on DS easily, keeping the two in sync with each other. This may or may not be available at the launch though - as it's not critical for anyone to be able to log in at this time.
 
The only thing we're currently waiting for is the theme. Manda has the theme designed, and is coding all the essential pages out. Once this is complete, we'll do a final run through of things and test everything out, and then get this puppy online.

Basically I just want to say I agree with everyone that has said this is a JAPANESE music forum.
And, like Ito said, there are places within this forum already that you can discuss kpop if you want, nothing is stopping you. 

Personally, I think that if you want to discuss anything the best option is just to start a thread about it, you dont necessarily need an entire subforum to do so.
I like the fact that there is a mix of everything here so I dont feel like I have to just stick to one thing. The fact that there is a general entertainment, discussion, music etc category makes it easier to open up the topics to many more things. and like champ said, making those into separate subforums is just a lot of unnecessary work when it's already there.
I think the only reason a subforum should be implemented is just for the sake of organization but, lets be real here, aint nobody got time for that.
 
MH is a nice community where the members can discuss many things and is not only limited to japanese rock/vkei, but at the core, it IS a japanese music forum.
So that's what I have to say about that.

This thread is not a place to fight your personal vendettas and I definitely don't enjoy coming in here and reading this shitfest.

Since the tagging system was brought up a few times in this thread, I am going to make a seperate topic for it in the next day or two (it's really a seperate issue anyway). The tagging system is a bit of a pet project for me and now that we had it for a few months I would like to get some feedback on it. I'll just have to think through some of my own thoughts on it, then I will post a thread in the Suggestions forum.
