As much as I hate to say it, Vola & the Oriental Machine (while they aren't technically a "newer" band, they've been around since '05) did very poorly these past two albums when compared with what they started with. They were never exactly original, but they had this bizarre, edgy charm to them that was strangely sexy and addicting despite the fact that Inazawa had a horrible singing voice. Then they lost the downy guitarist, who was really their biggest saving grace and actually gave their music some dimension, and got this new guy who isn't really that special at all. Second, they decided to go major with Universal and Inazawa started getting into the club/dance music craze and they basically turned into Polysics II: Electric Boogaloo. Of course that doesn't mean I don't still enjoy them but that "charm" is completely gone . . . which is incredibly disappointing. I would comment on some of the others like The Cabs and Caroline Rocks who I felt were also going downhill in their later releases but they already disbanded so I guess they were losing the feeling too, haha?

^ I think it means you've never tried at all or have tried very little, but might be interested. For people interested in Gackt - Mars, Crescent, and Rebirth are good, solid Gackt classics. Mars is an especially great choice if you liked Gackt in Malice Mizer because his vocal style was still a bit similar to when he sang in that era. Everything else afterwards is either hit or miss; a lot of the music post-2008 is just outright bland and soulless in my opinion. @jduv86 For Sex Pistols, Never Mind the Bollocks is basically their only studio album so that's not too difficult, lol. I downloaded "The Essential Clash" just out of curiosity from iTunes a long while ago and ended up enjoying them, though I haven't heard much else. If you don't want to shell out $15 for a digital album, I'd probably look for a smaller compilation. The Beatles is a new one for me as well. This kid at my school gave me their whole discography on a flash drive last year and I haven't listened to everything yet, but so far my favorites have been Abbey Road and Magical Mystery Tour.

About BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY (Shoxx vol.245) BY heresiarchy on TUMBLR: —How much has [the new album] progressed so far? Ruki: Just a bit now and we’ll be done with pre-production, and the lyrics are still to be done. They’re still at a temporary stage. —Do they change considerably from the temporary lyrics? Ruki: Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don’t change that much. But they often do change. —The album title, BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY, has already been announced so that means there’s already an idea behind it? Ruki: Yes. Because this time the concept was also to create a “the GazettE” album. In the beginning, everyone was misled by the word “DEFORMITY” but it’s not something focused only on that. The album’s concept is also that we wanted to make it an album with each member’s songs on it in the form that all members agree on. (…) —What kind of album will BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY be in terms of composition? Ruki: I guess there’s lots of variation. But, it’s not like TOXIC and DIVISION. Speaking of song variation, it’s closer to our older albums. Closer to STACKED RUBBISH and NIL. —I see. And DIM was a conceptual album. Ruki: Yeah. DIM was a thing for itself. This one is different from that. It might also give off an impression like, “This is what you’re doing in this day and age!?” Well, I’ll talk about the specifics sometime in the future. ______________________________________________ ASDFGHJKL. I AM SO EXCITEDDDDDD. I REALLY CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR WHAT IT'S LIKE IF ITS SIMILAR TO THEIR EARLIER ALBUMS ;AAAA; DID I MENTION I WAS EXCITED?

Completely 2nd this, also adding: ViViD - Lately.... HAHAHAHA! Sorry, thought I would open with a joke. Matenrou Opera - I loved their old stuff but their new stuff sounds a lot more better and I am hooked by every release. I think it's because of the better production on their stuff and that gorgeous new album of theirs Periphery - They used to be an all djent mathcore band but lately they've been getting lighter on the djent stuff and have some more awesome songs! Vistlip - It might just be me but they were awesome then, but now they are getting better. CHIMERA was pretty good, GLOSTER has to be the heaviest, sickest release yet by them, and their latest album was better to me than prior ones.

Not to impose but I think a good idea to go along with this thread is to give to those that are interested the best release to check out from the list of bands they listed. Of course, if you don't want it that's all cool too. I just find myself that bands I haven't gotten into I didn't get into because they have so much to go through and I don't have a good starting point.
