CAT5 9075 Posted August 15, 2012 New Tokyokarankoron album is out tomorrow. Their sound is a lot more mainstream now that they're major, but they're still a fun band. I hope the new album is good.... p6PbPIFZK_A
whitegrey 115 Posted August 20, 2012 just stumbled upon a PV by these guys here (NAGARE) and pretty much like it; WySIAXCdm44 only a demo-maxi and a demo-single released so far (5 songs total output)… it's more on the simple side based on the sound of the PV (ind of harsh drums) but it's interesting enough for me. http://47.xmbs.jp/nagare/
fitear1590 2414 Posted August 21, 2012 ^ Not bad, whitegrey! Btw, those crazy fackers バックドロップシンデレラ (Backdrop Cinderella) are releasing a new album, "Jackson" on September 19. Looking forward to it!

whitegrey 115 Posted February 23, 2013 The cold tommy official web: http://thecoldtommy.syncl.jp Just stumbled upon this one - they will release their first mini album in march, and I think I will check them out as I really dig the the new video posted above! Maybe some people know them already (they seem to have a connection to Zankyo and have EP's out already) but I didn't notice them until now - so I'm just posting it… 2 ichi and bonsaijodelfisch reacted to this

And the bassist is quite hot.
ichi 20 Posted March 24, 2013 I'm not sure if this band fits in this category... HINTO 1 CAT5 reacted to this
CAT5 9075 Posted March 25, 2013 ^ Yes, hinto is great! They're composed of members from several other indie bands - mainly sparta locals and scarlet! 1 ichi reacted to this
enyx 903 Posted March 25, 2013 I'm a little sad that and have only been mentioned once each in this thread, check the links if you haven't heard them before! Anyway, I've been definitely enjoying indie bands more than Visual Kei lately. A lot of VK bands seem to be recycling the same material over and over, even the ones that I feel used to be innovators in the genre (the GazettE spring to mind). Maybe it's just my tastes developing over time. I recently discovered School Food Punishment and Tokyo Jihen but it's kinda disheartening knowing that neither of them are likely to produce any new material going forward. Can anyone think of any other female-fronted bands with a similar sort of sound/style to these two bands? Preferably ones that are active and have easily-obtainable music (i.e. their music is available on iTunes or uploaded on an official Youtube channel, etc)? DeithX252 1266 Posted March 25, 2013 female shoegaze, anyone? btw I found this today official site: http://www.lostfog.net/ new mini album can be heard at soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/lost-in-the-fog or you can buy it at amazon
ichi 20 Posted March 25, 2013 ^ Yes, hinto is great! They're composed of members from several other indie bands - mainly sparta locals and scarlet! Ah! It's good to know I'm on the right track. Thanks, CAT. Anyway, I came across this band just now: アンモフライト (ammoflight) You can download アンモフライト – 夏色ドット [FP][uL] here
Aion 184 Posted March 25, 2013 Ammoflight is pretty cool yeah. Bought their debut when it came out in... what was it, 2010 or so? Thought they didn't interest me enought to buy more stuff by them. Also never saw their 2nd mini online though. Don't know if they got more out... [edit] guess they do, they got signed even it seems? niw, only got philosofiles from 2009 Niw, if we're talking recent discoveries, my biggest discovery has been さよなら、また今度ね (sayonara, mata kondo ne), which I discovered over a month ago. Such happy go lucky songs. Been listening to their latest a million times by now xD

fitear1590 2414 Posted March 25, 2013 cheezus, that is great, anybody has this maybe? couldn't find it anywhere... Ooh, I wish someone would post something by them! I also really like this song: Last time I checked, their stuff only seemed to be available from Tower Records and other stores that didn't ship overseas, but now it looks like their stuff is appearing on CDJapan, HMV, etc. I'll probably add their first and second mini-album to my next order. Trust me, both bands are well appreciated here. I love toe, although I'm not personally a fan of Haku (I think they're a rin toshite-rip off, heh). Yeah, both SFP and TJ disbanded sadly. For bands with a similar Jazz/pop combination, I'd suggest EGO-WRAPPIN'...I consider them equally as talanted as TJ, although EW definitely has their own style...so don't expect them to be a TJ copy-cat (EW has been around longer btw) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxraukShUiQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRHSFE0gyQk

sai 868 Posted April 23, 2013 First post in this thread, blame CAT5 for sort of bringing me here I'm basically trying to find what I like within non-VK, but there's so much to try that I've gotten a bit lost and gave up altogether. I'm secretly hoping you guys can help me find some nice stuff, because I like getting different recommendations from different people! Here's a list of artist I've discovered already and what I liked, to help you a bit in your recommendations. I highlighted my favourites: - Ametsub - Boris - ESNO - LAGITAGIDA - M-Koda - nego - ONE OK ROCK - school food punishment - アルカラ - 凛として時雨 I know, still a very short list...but I'm working on it! I hope you guys will be able to help! 1 CAT5 reacted to this
