sai 868 Posted April 23, 2011 Adele Laurie Blue Adkins (born 5 May 1988), known professionally as Adele (stylised as ADELE), is an English singer-songwriter. She was the first recipient of the BRIT Awards Critics' Choice and was named the number-one predicted breakthrough act of 2008 in an annual BBC poll of music critics, Sound of 2008. In 2009, Adele won two Grammy Awards, Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, at the 51st Grammy Awards.Adele attracted the attention of XL Recordings with a three-song demo posted on MySpace and then signed with the label. Since her debut, 19, Adele has received much recognition both commercially and critically. The album debuted at number one, and has been certified triple platinum in the UK. Her career in the US was boosted by a viewer record-breaking Saturday Night Live episode in late 2008. Adele released her second album 21 on 24 January 2011 in the UK, and 22 February in the US. The album was a critical and commercial success, selling 208,000 copies in its first week in the UK and debuting at number one on the UK Album Chart.[10] The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 in the US, selling 352,000 copies in its first week. The album has charted at number one in 17 European countries and the US. After performing at the 2011 BRIT Awards, the album track "Someone Like You" reached number one in the United Kingdom, while the album also remained at number one. "Someone Like You" held the number one position for four consecutive weeks. The Official Charts Company announced that Adele is the first living artist to achieve the feat of two top five hits in both the Official Singles Chart and the Official Albums Chart simultaneously since The Beatles in 1964. 21 has spent eleven consecutive weeks at number one in the UK, the longest ever by a female solo artist on the UK Album Chart, surpassing Madonna's nine weeks at number one back in 1990 with her greatest hits compilation The Immaculate Collection. In the US the album has spent a total of four weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 to date. The album has also broken the record for the most UK digital downloads. In less than three months of release, 21 has sold 4 million copies worldwide. My parents bought her first album '19' which I didn't like THAT much, but a few months ago they bought her new album '21' which I absolutely loved. 'Rolling in the Deep' and 'Set fire to the rain' are favourites of mine on the album. It somehow really interests me. Discuss.
Des 289 Posted April 23, 2011 I keep telling myself I have to try that album with the "Set Fire to the Rain" song, because it's on top of the charts here and it isn't shit. Which is needless to say very surprising because 99% of our charts is shit. But this is actually kinda nice. But nobody ever talks about any other song... that makes me wonder if she's just a singles-artist for a singles-audience who doesn't put much effort into a full album. But I gotta try the album first... *off to google*
sai 868 Posted April 23, 2011 She does put lots of effort on them, it's just a coincidence that my two favourites happen to be singles
fitear1590 2414 Posted April 23, 2011 @Des: Don't worry, she's not just about the singles. I actually loved 19! But 21 is great too! I'm really not sure which one I like better (such a hard life, choosing between the better of two masterpieces!) Either way, Adele has solidified herself in my top-tier of favorite artists! I love her voice. Despite their technical talent, vocalists like Beyonce and Christina Aguilera just don't do it for me, for whatever reason. Adele does! Plus, she has MORE than proven herself live. Just watch any live video and she just as good, if not even better than the CD's. She's not just a studio artist. I also really admire what I've seen of her in interviews and stuff. She seems very "down-to-earth" and humble and her laugh is really great. It always puts a smile on my face! Anyway...!Song favorites! From the 19 era: Chasing Pavements Daydreamer My Same Painting Pictures (from Make You Feel My Love single) From 21: Turning Tables Rolling in the Deep Set Fire to the Rain (hey, it's popular, but it's awesome!) Take it All
LIDL 692 Posted April 24, 2011 chasing pavements make everything happen for me. I was at my lowest day and that song was on the radio. It was very representing to what i felt and thinking at that time. Plus her voice isn't whiny when singing slow song which i like. Her lyrics were always thoughtful. And so i am getting her 19 album the day after and the rest is history. And this week rolling in deep is on iTunes #1 cos of American Idol's Haley Reinhart sang it for this week theme. It is cool for America to get the original ver than Haley's. Her appereance is good too, though i do hope she won't putting more weight cos it won't be healthy. p.s: rumour has it is one of my fave of 21, though all tracks are all weighty and got the same top quality. Aion 184 Posted April 24, 2011 Loved the 21 album, never really listened to 19 though, but I also loved the singles from that release
saishuu 3220 Posted April 24, 2011 I didn't give her much attention when 19 came out, but I'm seriously addicted to 21 right now. Favorite songs, aside from the all singles, are probably One and Only, Don't You Remember and her cover of Lovesong. Must give a better listen to 19 soon now. fitear1590 2414 Posted April 24, 2011 Everyone make sure to check out the b-sides from the 19 era as well. They are pretty overlooked! Painting Pictures is really different, compared to her first album stuff. And her take on Etta James, just awesome. (from the Cold Shoulder single) (from the Make You Feel My Love single)Fool That I Am (Etta James cover, from the Hometown Glory single) (Sam Cooke cover, from the Chasing Pavements single)and be sure to find her version of the Raconteurs "Many Shades of Black"! (I'm in Germany and can't find a working youtube link for it!!)

fitear1590 2414 Posted January 3, 2012 My sister got the Royal Albert Hall live DVD for Christmas and we watched it the other day. It was really excellent. Not only was there a full live orchestra, but Adele was close to perfect. On one song (Take it All), she even started over about 10 seconds in because of a "shit note," but I didn't hear it, haha. Solid tracklist too, though I would have liked just a few more of her simple tracks from 19. 1.Hometown Glory 2.I ll Be Waiting 3.Don t You Remember 4.Turning Tables 5.Set Fire To The Rain 6.If It Hadn t Been For Love 7.My Same 8.Take It All 9.Rumour Has It 10.Right As Rain 11.One & Only 12.Lovesong 13.Chasing Pavements 14.I Can't Make You Love Me 15.Make You Feel My Love 16.Someone Like You 17.Rolling In The Deep The DVD also came with a CD version, so if anyone would like a rip, just let me know! I hadn't listened to her in a while, so this reinvigorated my love for her.
saishuu 3220 Posted January 3, 2012 No Daydreamer though. Gonna download this whenever I have the chance, it's been a while now since I listened to her.
fitear1590 2414 Posted January 3, 2012 No Daydreamer though. Yeah... that was one thing that was missing in 21 for me: those simple guitar-only tracks like that and "crazy for you".

A friend of mine got it for Christmas so we watched it at her place (with a BOSE soundsystem and a LED TV, which is needless to say that that was awesome) and I loved it! She just sat there on her chair singing her songs, but she was talking to the audience a lot as well. Her laugh is hilarious and makes me laugh myself every time! I love how she just kicked out her heels because she didn't think they were comfortable to continue with. I didn't hear the shit note either, but I loved how she said it, needless to say she's now on my list of artists I have to see live. Also: Classic Adele. LIDL 692 Posted February 14, 2012 After her Grammy triumph Adele has revealed plans to take a five- year break from music to focus on her relationship. The Rolling in the Deep singer wants to focus on spending time with new beau Simon Konecki because when she has prioritised her career in the past it has led to heartbreak. Asked about her future plans, she told US Vogue magazine : 'I am f***ing off for four or five years. If I am constantly working, my relationships fail. 'So at least now I can have enough time to write a happy record. And be in love and be happy.' 'And then I don't know what I'll do. Get married. Have some kids. Plant a nice vegetable patch.' source: U.S VOUGE She is really pretty on the cover. Looking slimmer since recovered from surgery and maybe as all we know it tge infamous Vouge air brushing. Omg i wish i could! especially after reading this: he is Adele’s new boyfriend, Simon Konecki,a big bear of a guy with a husky voice and a hipster vibe—he has the telltale full beard and a slouchy, gentle aspect.
