These are the releases of 2011 which I listened to and want to say more about them: Alice Nine - "Gemini" was amazing. ; "BLUE FLAME" was weaker, but the G3 new version kicked ass! Boris "New album" was just perfect. There are some really great songs on that album. Cocklobin - even though "Grisaille" wasn't a bad single, I was quite disappointed. Coldplay - "EVERY TEARDROP IS A WATERFALL" (EP) A nice, enjoyable release. Nothing stunning, not their best, but not bad. D - "VAMPIRE SAGA" was not bad, but I was kind of expecting something more. I think they should write more songs like "三日月揺籃歌" . D'espairsRay - "antique" was a perfect best of album. DEATHGAZE - "SILENCE/THE END" - a good single! The overall quality is amazing for a band with such small average sells. DIR EN GREY - "LOTUS" was absolute meh. "DIFFERENT SENSE" - "罪と規制" was good. DOGinTheパラレルワールドオーケストラ - "ONE" had some really good songs on it e.g. "世界再構成魔法-リライト-". FACT - "Eat Your Words" amazing. I wish they made a full album like this, not a 15 minutes long 6 track E.P... the GazettE - "VORTEX" - well I liked it much better than "PLEDGE" and "RED", and it wasn't a bad single, though they really need to start pushing themselves further. At this moment it seems as if they're stagnating. If they start losing popularity (which has perhaps already happened) I'm afraid they won't get to the tops of the charts again. the HIATUS - "Hatching Mayflies" - I liked the title song. Kaya - "Queen" - A nice album. This was the second thing I heard from him, and I liked it quite a lot. THE KIDDIE - "Nutty Nasty" was quite a good single! I actually was pleasantly surprised! König - "Deep throat" - not bad, but quite forgettable tbh. I liked his first mini album better. LM.C - "SUPER DUPER GALAXY" - LOL I was hoping to get something better, like "PUNKY ❤ HEART" or "BOYS & GIRLS". Lycaon - "情欲のアクメ" - Pretty bad, if you ask me. I was hoping that they'll came back to their minds, and will make good music again. Lynch. - "I BELIEVE IN ME" was a really nice album! My fave though was still "ALL THIS I’LL GIVE YOU". Moran - "Apples" - I wanted to hear more Sizna influence, but this wasn't bad, not bad at all. Actually it still was a really solid release. (TIME SECTION # needs to make a new release) NICO Touches the Walls - "PASSENGER" - I need more songs like what they did on "Broken Youth".. NightingeiL - "水銀" - Flawless, just like all the rest of their releases. Plastic Tree - "アンモナイト" - liked it .. A LOT. Radiohead - "The King of Limbs" - Hmm. I wish it was longer. Codex = pure gold, though. SCREW - "DEEP SIX" - Pretty good to be honest. Better than "DUALITY" that's for sure. Versailles - "Holy Grail" - More like "Holy Meh". vistlip - "SINDRA" - I liked the single, as generic as it was. ViViD - "「夢」～ムゲンノカナタ～" - I didn't like it. They need to make good songs again, ASAP XA-VAT - "艶℃" had some really good songs on it! A very good release! アンド - "TRIGGER" - A pretty boring mini. イロクイ。 - "曖昧ストライプ" - such a good single.. Even though I usually don't care about bands like this, イロクイ。 was really good. I'm gonna miss these guys... ケミカルピクチャーズ - "拝啓…詐欺的道化師音楽愛腐女子様方へ所詮戯レ言サレド純粋無垢ナ音楽" was nice, but the first 3 singles of the series were better, I'm not even gonna say how much better I like "Präparat". シド - "dead stock" - I loved dead stock, and the album was overall very good. ゾロ - "KIGA" - Many people dislike this album A LOT, but after more listens I started liking it. ダウト - "ONE" was quite good. I liked the single, even though their pre-major (actually pre-"CARNIVAL浮世") stuff is better. メガマソ - "Loveless, more Loveless" was a great album! A really good release! 少女-ロリヰタ-23区 - "I'z" - Better than "WHITE BLADE." and a very good single! 己龍 - "夢幻鳳影" was great! This album was very enjoyable (at least to me) 愛狂います。 - "アルク" was a letdown. From the new songs (which were only 5) I enjoyed only 2 : "ひらり。" and "春夏秋冬". At least their live distributed single "東京スカイツリー" wasn't as bad. 葵 from 彩冷える - "ONE" - Hell, I really liked only one song, the rest were too poppy for my taste tbh. Basically that's it. There were some really good releases, and also some bad and disappointing ones. But overall I think it's been quite a productive first half of the year. belt 0 Posted July 9, 2011 it's been a decent year. plenty of good singles, and a couple cool albums. the highlight for me so far this year was definitely cage the elephant's "thank you happy birthday", followed by kaya's "queen". i was pretty surprised that queen was as good as it is. his last album was pretty forgettable with a few standout tracks, but this one has maybe 1 or 2 filler tracks at most. cage the elephant is just always cool all the time. not surprised that their new album was totally awesome through-and-through. not particularly looking forward to anything this year. i just wait and see what gets released, without bothering to check about future releases. Their second one is sooo boring... I wanted to go to their show in Milan, but I'll guess they will play just new songs, so, no. The only new song I liked a lot was The Legacy. Other favorites of mine have been: -東京事変: 大発見 -ユナイト (UNiTE): UNiTE. greeting single -dry as dust: ノンフィクション (not my favorite release from them, but solid enough) -ジミニークリケット (Jiminy Cricket): 色の無い向日葵 (this band might be the second coming of Moran, but in some ways they're doing it even better!) -네미시스 (Nemesis): The Piano -女王蜂 (Ziyoou-vachi): 孔雀 -caroline rocks: parallel -Lamp: 東京ユウトピア通信 (Relaxing and lovely, as always) -Adele: 21 (I think I still like the first album better, but this one along with all the b-sides and random live covers this year has been spectacular, as well) -己龍 (Kiryu): 夢幻鳳影 (Kiryu are one of the last remaining saviors of VK!) And it is hard to choose which album that i should listed here, cos i have been listening and also discovering so many good music this year. So i have to sort it carefully, and the result here are albums that i enjoyed the most. And that i considered important releases for this year. Even if i haven't played some albums listed here again, it is not becaus eit is getting old, but more to constant new album releasing that i have to catch up. I move on than stuck in the moment.
