I just found this picture I made two years ago on my Facebook page and thought it was an interesting topic.

 

 

Many people claim that the 'original' VK is already dead but... I think there are some looks that have been around forever and still keep getting copied.

Can you think of some timeless looks, too?

Haha, I made one like that not too long ago - may I present: the Chain of Fanboyism.

 

 

Kyo (D'ERLANGER, late '80s) --> Kiyoharu (Kuroyume, early '90s) --> Kyo (Dir en grey, late '90s) --> Kyouki (Grieva, 2012-)

(also notice the name similarities, lol)

I don't think that counts though, it's just a color lol (not even the same hairstyle). Of course it's going to be used.

I was thinking more in the lines of the roles in visual kei. Like the girly girl image is pretty common for some bands (girly bassists in this case).



I happened to find very similar looks of Rame and Emiru.

Hakuei (Penicillin) - 1998 (almost close, he did perform without that sleeveless jacket  though)

The singer of nuvɔ:gu reminds me of Pete Burns as well.

 

 

And then there is also big hair (mostly red or with some red strands) + face mask look which seems to be very popular in visual kei.

Hide has done it followed by Die from Dir en grey, the guy from Avelcain and Haru from Grieva. There are a lot more, at least face masks were the thing in the 90s and are still beloved fashion items in visual kei.

i can say more about obvious influences that i see in many jrockers than timeless image.sorry if i am out of subject.

most copies i can think are of most jrockers with kiyoharu at some style of his career.
except kyo old look. you can see it in guys like byou(screw),singer of lycaon,even in tsuzuku(mejibray) but is not a blatant copy.you just can see clearly the influence.i am sure there are more i can't think right now.
and omg if i see one more guy with kiyoharu tattoo.
i never understood why so many guys are infatuated so much with kiyoharu more than anyone else.
after him is kyo

Like most Visual Kei musicians (at least in the near past) wore the typical Visual Kei hairstyle inspired by the super saiyajin hair.

 

Some are just coincidence.

I want to mention a certain trend makeup-wise. I think this was started by Tatsuro and MUCC (correct me if I'm wrong) way back and been done by at least a few other bands, especially Metronome/Fukusuke. I may have seen others too but I can't recall right now.
