New track from Scour, the side project of Philip H. Anselmo, John Jarvis, Derek Engemann, Adam Jarvis and Mark Kloeppel. Check out the track and ask yourself "whois the guest vocalist on this track? hmmm. who can it be?". Trust me, you'll never figure it out without seeing/reading it.

Was nice to read your gig experience, @Visutox!  Makes me wanna go to an underground extreme metal show again... I haven't been to one since god knows when. Vitriol and Gruesome will be playing here at the end of the month, I might make it to that one (tho the headliner is Krisiun whom I don't really know or care for).

Anyway, since I'm here I might as well share my joy about the new Spectral Voice track that's out. Top graveyard death/doom filth as always!

Also on a random note, I somehow stumbled upon this young Austrian speed metal band Death Racer recently, fun rippin' stuff. The song title "Motormentor" alone made me wanna check their demo out, haha. Seems like they're going for a speeding-racing theme.

Saw Dread Sovereign, Saturnalia Temple, The Ruins of Beverast and Wolvennest tonight.

I was very excited to see Dread Sovereign and holy shit, they didn't let me down - they even exceeded my expectations! I might have not fully enjoyed the full set of Primordial last summer, but I feel like seeing Nemtheanga with Dread Sovereign makes up for it. What a fucking vocalist, what a performance. Everything was on point. The bass, the guitars, the drums. Damn.

The Ruins of Beverast was pretty good, didn't enjoy as much as I enjoy listening to their music on my headphones but yeah. Good performance still!
I've only listened to Exuvia and Rain Upon the Impure from them so far, so yeah. Both are fantastic but the latter is my favorite. Need to dig more.

Saturnalia Temple was boring.  Didn't expect much from them after listening to their new album Gravity. They're not bad though, I just can't get into their music I guess.

And Wolvennest were very good. I saw clips on YouTube and I got mesmerized by their performance, but actually being at a concert of these guys is something else. The atmosphere is really unique. And they don't rely only on atmosphere because the music is heavy as fuck. I'm spinning the album Void as I write this commet, and I regret not doing it before. So good.

Anyway, going to another concert tomorrow: Konkhra, Malevolent Creation and Krzysztof's Batushka.

Really intrigued to see how this Batushka performs.
Panihida is a very good album so I'm very excited! I'm wondering if he's gonna play stuff from Litourgiya though? I don't know.
Anyway, the show is sold out so I hope I can find a good spot.

By the motherfucking way, speaking of Paysage d'HIver:

    Paysage d'Hiver - Im Wald

13 tracks, 5 instrumentals, two fucking hours of music. They had a listening party for the album back in January, with exclusive Paysage d'Hiver beers and everything. But the physical release is right around the corner. Interestingly enough, this is actually considered an album, unlike the previous 10 which is counted as demos.

Fuck, I'd kill to be able to attend this. This surely is how you create a listening party that's interesting. Usually listening parties is just totally uninteresting, but this I'd kill to attend. Damn.

    Edit:

    Sounds sweet as hell.

The VelociPastor - Based on the poster I expected some cheap SyFy or The Asylum flick and I was close to skipping it, but I'm glad I decided to watch it because this was one wild 80's grindhouse worship. It's closer to movies like Manborg, Commando Ninja and Kung Fury than anything cheap SyFy or The Asylum related. A fucking VelociPastor, drug dealing ninjas and more. Awesome movie!

MacGruber - This movie is spun off from SNL and is spoofing all kinds of movies, most notably MacGyver, tons of James Bond movies, Die Hard and so on. It's easy to understand why it's gained cult status. Silly and over the top, and always funny as hell. Excellent!

Uncut Gems - Benny Safdie and Josh Safdie continue to create thrillers and cast against type. A few years ago it was Robert Patterson in Good Time, this time around it's Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems. And Adam Sandler is KILLING it! Easily his best performance ever, and a performance that proves that he belongs amongst the big names in Hollywood. Just a mindblowing performance, and the performance alone is well worth your time. Add that to the mix of a thrilling drama-thriller that'll stress you the fuck out and keep you on the edge of your seat, and there's no way you'll be disappointed. Superb!

i know theyre definitely one of those bands people either love or hate but avenged sevenfold just re-released their b-sides album from 2008 now with some other unreleased tracks to anyone who's interested. theres a good chance some tracks here people have missed out on if they used to be into the band

    Happy you liked it, mate.

Should we start with the good or bad news? Good? Ok:

New Vader track from an upcoming album planned for release in May. Sounds really good, Best track in ages? Like... Litany? That's fucking 20 years.

Saw them live a few months ago too. Was really fucking good!

    And the bad news:

That fucking sucks! Seems like them kicking Vis Crom out of the band after she came out as a trans woman might have something to do with it.

I thought the last two Absu albums were disappointing, but I've really been waiting hard for their next albums anyways. They were always really unique, and you knew they'd offer something very fresh and original. But everything up until and including Speed n' Spikes Vol. II from 2008 were top notch. This sucks!

Baron Blood of the Greek titans Necromantia passed away today due to a heart attack. What a shame! He played the 8 string bass in Necromantia. Everyone has to check out Necromantia too. Their two first albums are incredibly unique, despite sounding very Greek. Amazing stuff!

Been spinning Alcest's Spiritual Instinct a lot since it dropped, and this album is just magnificent. It could easily have been released on a double album side by side with Kodama. Kodama is the lighter, more uplifting album while Spiritual Instinct is more of the same, but a lot darker. 9/10!

How anyone can find something like this boring live is beyond me. Darkside alone is reason good enough to stay for the entire gig, and as long as the drums are clear in the mix everything else can be pretty muddy without it taking away all the enjoyment of the gig. The cymbal work is just beyond everything and anything.

I need to re-spin the Mgła album because besides the last track which is a masterpiece, the rest of the album was kinda meh. The drumming is fantastic tho. I preferred the Kriegsmaschine album from last year, and oh boy those drums.

Their new album is fucking brutal! And I was skeptical about it because almost 50 minutes of sheer brutality doesn't usually do it for me but man, I kept enjoying it until I realized it was over.

Vitriol are fantastic too, can't wait to check out their new record! Such talented lads.

In other news, yesterday I saw Dopethrone live and it was crazy as hell. What a gig! Also they had two local bands who opened for them, "Seethr" a black metal band from Antwerp and "Big Fat Lukum" (Sludge/Stoner) from Namur. Leaving some links here in case any of you are curious about them:

Haven't checked out the new Mgła album yet (will do it this weekend!), but just saw them live two days ago at the start of their tour. They were pretty good as usual, tho the sound of the venue could've been a bit better. They played for about an hour and, truth be told, I got a bit tired by the end... and I dunno if it was just the song selection or what, but I've never noticed before how damn similar/samey their song structures are, lol. Was kinda comical after a while. In any case, it was an enjoyable show.

In other news, I'm just spinning the latest Devourment album (Obscene Majesty) for the first time, and maaaan this production is absolutely filthy!  Like, ridiculously dense and heavy. It sure gives a whole new dimension to the brutality. The actual music is cool too, tho I'll have to listen to this one more so that everything clicks.

Staying on the death-metal front, Cattle Decapitation just dropped the first official track from their upcoming album "Death Atlas" (release date November 29) and as I expected it's typically them. Props to Travis yet again, he continues to remain my favorite extreme metal vocalist. His voice from 2:20 onwards = dat's the shit I like! Can't wait for the full-length, I bet it'll be just as amazing as their last two.

Speaking of amazing, I randomly searched for this US death metal band Vitriol because I noticed they'll be opening at Nile and Hate Eternal's gig next Friday and oh boy... this is gonna be gooooood. Also, lucky me, their debut album drops tomorrow, heh. Check this and watch out for the flesh-melting guitar solo:

Vigor Deconstruct is a new record label partially risen from the ashes of Fallen Empire Records — this new structure being erected by Markov Soroka (US/Ukraine: Tchornobog, Aureole, Krukh, Drown, etc.). I'm pleased to have assisted Markov with the introduction of Argonavis (Canada), one of the label's signed bands. The two other names I am presently co-signing to the label will be revealed later this year, both are currently in the progress of recording and mastering their new releases. Look forward to it!

    Some more news:

Been listening to this track a lot in the past weeks since it was recommended to me on Spotify. And it has blown me away. It took me AGES to get into Helheim post Yersinia Pestis (14 years, and I gave ever album since Yersinia Pestis a lot of listens), but it wasn't until the release of landawarijaR in 2017 that I started enjoying newer Helheim and now I love it all, every single release from their 1993 demo Helheim to landawarijaR, and judging from this track I'll love this as well. This song is very different, carrying a rockish drive to it, while still keeping the recent touch of norse atmosphere to it. Brilliant, and one of Helheim's best tracks ever. Catchy as hell, while still giving you a lot to dig into and enjoy. Simple, but EXCEPTIONAL drumming. Love the changes around 2:14 and 2:44. They add so much to the track itself, despite being incredibly straight forward. Can't wait for the album to drop!

Teaser from an upcoming single by Vulture. They released a modern speed metal classic in 2017, so I can't wait for this. Should be awesome!

    Stälker - Powermad

Nothing released from this two track EP yet, but if you've heard these guys you know this is gonna rule. Like Vulture they released a fantastic speed metal album in 2017, but this was, to everyone's big surprise, even better than Vulture. Furious speed metal!

Their demo is a must-have for any fan of speed metal. Well, so is their debut album.

Vintersorg has departed from Borknagar due to personal reasons. The band is finalizing their eleventh album and ICS Vortex will take over as the lead vocalist. Fortunately they also hint that Vintersorg may appear in future releases as a guest vocalist. 🙏

I first found Borknagar thru Vortex, who was ICONIC in Dimmu Borgir, but fell in love with the band when I heard Vintersorg. I've since followed his main project, and I hope that this departure means he'll be focused on that more. I'm still looking forward to the new Borknagar album, but I feel it won't be the same without Mr. V. 💔

Another new Saor song and this time it features Neige of Alcest. Better than the last track and one of the better Saor tracks to date, and much of it comes down to Neige's excellent vocals. He's just on a whole different planet vocal wise.

Man, this was weird. And this is why I love watching movies without getting any info about them whatsoever. I can't say much other than the fact that this is one of my favorite movies with Nicolas Cage, he nailed it. Linus Roache also did a fantastic job in his role (just realized he's King Ecbert in Vikings wow). Also the cinematography is top notch. I highly recommend this one.
