I know there's a similar thread for everything on the forum, but I thought physical copies and merch deserved its own thread. Pictures of you stuff is always a positive.

Went to this record thing today where lots of people have stands and sell their shit, and I ended up with the following:

    Vinyl:

Don Peake ‎– The Hills Have Eyes (soundtrack)
Roberto Donati ‎– Mangiati Vivi! / Eaten Alive! (soundtrack)
Steve Moore ‎– Horror Business (soundtrack)

    Tape:

Blade Runner - Over 30 years old and still looks amazing! Can't say the same for many movies.

Once Upon A Time In The West - This movie is a real work of art. And that music.

Blurred Lines is fantastic. It's catchy as fuck, which is all that matters to be honest.

Also, drugs? Who gives a fuck what he's doing. Could be snorting mountains of cocaine for all that I care, just like with every other artist out there.

There's nohing bad with being stuck in a loop as long as what you're doing are of high quaity. As long as the quality of the music (or your art in general, be it music, film, comics, books or whatever) doesn't drop there's not a single need of change to be honest. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind bands changing their sound, but I don't mind bands staying the same either.

Welcome to Dongmakgol - A movie that was recommended to me a while back and i never had time to watch it till now.......

Overall pretty good, though not as strong as the previous korean war movie i watched about 2 brothers.. Some acting was rather poor, and the placement of CGI & the CGI itself was quite often very questionable.

Quite a few scenes are just stupid..

L.A. Confidential - Quite good and stylish neo-noir film in which the characters are the best thing. All 3 main characters played by Russell Crowe, Guy Pearce and Kevin Spacey were great.

Like Father, Like Son - Main character finds out that his 6 years old boy isn't actually his but has been swapped at birth and his real son has been raised by another family. Pretty simple plot but so complicated situation. The cast did a good job, I especially liked the little kid. Very thought-provoking even if you're not a parent yourself.

Cold Eyes - Solid crime thriller about a special surveillance team tracking down a smart criminal and his gang. It managed to keep me interested the whole 2 hours and that is the most important thing in thrillers. This film is actually a remake of Johnnie To's Eye in the Sky and To even makes a funny cameo.

I'm not gonna go to fast here in case someone actually finds anything interesting, but I just decided to throw something out since I've suddenly got internet that works two days in a row. Have had some major problems with my internet for the last month.

    God Macabre - The Winterlong

So, as we all know the Swedish death metal scene was a major force in the death metal scene back in the late 80's and early 90's with bands such as Nihilist/Entombed, Dismember, Grave, Merciless, Carnage and Unleased, before bands such as At the Gates, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames and Hypocrisy took it a step further with their melodic death metal. But underneath this there was a shitload of bands releasing fantastic demos/EPs/albums that should've become bigger, but that never made it like the mentioned bands. God Macabre, Nirvana 2002, Epitaph, Gorement, Wombbath and Toxaemia are some of these bands. And unlike the Florida death metal scene, the Swedish wasn't very thrasy. It's way heavier and more brutal.

The Winterlong is a short death metal carnage clocking in on just 28 minutes of brutal and doomy, atmospheric, melancholic and rotten death metal of the best kind. It sounds very Swedish, but it doesn't really sounds like any of the Swedish bands of that time. Don't get me wrong, if you put on this you'll hear influences from Nihilist/Entombed, Carnage, Dismember, Grave, Epitaph and even Tiamat, and of course there's lots of Death here as well, and it's a bit Leprosy influenced I'd say, but there's something quite unique about the whole album. The atmoshere is unlike any other death metal album out there, and they just found their own sound.

It's a shame that The Winterlong... were the only output from these Swedes, especially since it's quite short, but it was released in 08 with three other songs that are fabolous as well. But the good thing about this? Well, it's a 28 minute logn death metal carnage that, when finished, you'll put on again because you just crave something more, and with its 28 minutes it never gets dull.

Hands down for one of the best death metal albums of all time.

I still remember when I got into the band, it was in 03 right after the release of Lucifer Incestus. A friend had bought it and brought it too school to show me the awesome video for the title track. We loved it and watched it on replay for the whole day before we suddenly got to listen through the album. Love at first listen. I can't say I view the video the same way today, but being pretty new to metal and rather young it was pretty fucking cool.

Also, I thought I'd start a weekly "the forgotten/overlooked/underrated album of the week" kinda thing to, because it sounded fun in my head. It's pretty self-exlaining, but I pick one album I feel are a bit forgotten/overlooked/underrated and write a bit about it and hopefully people into that sort of metal will check it out. And if people seems to be interested I will continue.

And I will start with a classic album that seems to be a forgotten gem. I just never hear anyoen talka bout it, and I don't get why because it is one of the best albums within the genre.

Infernäl Mäjesty - None Shall Defy

Forget about the awful, non-fitting cover or their glam-image, this album is a masterpiece and one of the best thrash meta albums ever. Infernäl Majesty played thrash metal that was kinda innovative for its time and very unique. While mostly a pretty pure thash metal album, at times it does lean more towards early death metal. We're talking about a thrash metal album that is pretty evil sounding, and that reminds me a bit of albums such as Seven Churches, Hell Awaits, Black Metal, Welcome to Hell and Scream Bloody Gore, but it never copies any of those albums. Worth checking out if you're into thrash metal, early death metal or just something that kicks ass.

Great concert last night. The 15 minutes I saw of Haraball was good, Haust delivered some awfully ugly blackened hardcore with conviction and Okkultokrati was heavy as fuck. Great gigs from al of them, especially Haust and Okkultokrati.

It's a lot darker and heavier than their debut album. That's heavy as fuck. Also, huge bonus for including Michael Winslow (Police Academy). Yaaa, that's his robot voice. Brilliant!

Bathory - Odens Ride over Nordland (from Blood Fire Death)

This is hands down probably the best intro there is. Not only because the beautifully cinematic and haunting intro itself is fantastic, but also because it sets the atmosphere for the album, and the way the intro segue into the ethereal acoustic intro to of A Fine Day to Die is noting short of perfection. It's the kind of intro that sends shivers down you spine. Three of the finest minutes ever composed by a human being.

Added the video with the intro and the first proper track of the album because it's beyond perfect. Enjoy.

Immortal - A Perfect Vision of the Rising Northland (from Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism)

This abum was Immortal's debut album and a very Bathoryesque album, and they nailed what Bathory did on Under the Sign of the Black Mark perfectly without ripping off the album. They mixes the raw and ugly with the epic, without going all retard with synth, folk elements and whatnot. A Perfect Vision of the Rising Northland is a 9 minute, mid-paced epic with some acoustic guitar and synth, but without going over the top with any of it. This is 9 minutes of cold, occult, epic and unholy black metal and is a perfect ender to a perfect album, and a song that would've made Quorthon proud.

Immortal - Beyond the North Waves (from Sons of Northern Darkness)

Ten years after Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism Immortal were back with their most Bathory-inspired album since that mentioned album, and once again they decided to end it with a song that would've made Quorthon proud. Fantasticly epic and majestic, and the ending of the song, man. The solo. Nothing complicated or amazing in itself, but it's very fitting and just adds a whole other dimension to the song. It's the way to do a solo.

This album start off with what's perhaps the most epic and best intro ever, and ends with one of the best and most epic tracks ever. THere's not really much more to say. It's epic, epic and way more epic. Black metal AND viking metal at its very best. Simple as that really.

Bathory - A Fine Day to Die (from Blood Fire Death)

This album starts off with a perfect intro that's probably the best and most epic intros of all time, before A FIne Day to Die. The song starts off with beautiful, haunting acoustic guitar over some ambience and whispery singing, before all hell breaks loose a minute and a half later. And from there on it's complete mayhem, in a majestic and powerful way.

Could just as well have included the intro instead, being beyond amazing and all that.

This song is even better than the more or less perfect title track btw, which I mentioned in the album enders-thead.

Cool, man. I hope they're both enjoyable to you. I'll keep recommending a new album once or twice a week for now, because I've got a lot of gems that deserves way more recognition than what they've got. And it helps me rediscover some albums that I really love, but haven't heard in a while, and that's always fun.
