Popping in just to recommend the new action movie Becky. Very violent and very over the top with hilariously (gross) moments throughout. Kevin James, best known for playing good guys, gets his first role as something else than a funny man, and he's really good and cool as the role of a mean, motherfucking neo-nazi. I've seen this compared to Green Room, but it's nothing like Green Room. The overall tone and stuff is completely different. Green Room is a dark, gritty and mean movie, while this is more a mean, fun and over the top movie.
8/10

I cannot stand Anthony Fantano, but this was a superb interview with someone that's gotten way too much hate. Really interesting, and Rebecca Black seems like a very thoughtful and smart woman.

And Bastard Priest is coming out with a new ep, almost ten years after their previous release. Swedish death metal inspired by Dismember, Entombed, Nihilist etc. but with a more crusty influence. The overall sound is more punky, although it's swedish as fuck. Both albums and demos are brilliant, and this sounds superb too.

New War Ripper EP. Heard it only once, but it sounds excellent. Joel Grind (Toxic Holocaust) really knows what good music sounds like. Even grimmer and more brutal than his previous War Ripper ep, Hellstorm released in 2007, was. Amazing!

Just finished Dark season 3, and what a way to end a series. How fucking well written and put together was this show? It's so complex, but yet so incredibly easy to follow. Gorgeous ending too. Absolutely brilliant series from start to finish. 9,5/10

Yes, it's fantastic. Gonna watch season 7 as soon as I'm done with Dark and Wolf Creek season 2.
Anyone seen Deadwax on Shudder? Looks really cool, and the concept sounds fantastic:
QuoteA mind-bending neo-noir set in the obsessive world of vinyl collecting. Etta Pryce, a vinyl tracker, is hired by a rich collector to hunt a legendary rare record that has driven its owners mad and killed anyone that has dared to play it.
Sounds a bit similar to Cigarette Burns and Fury of the Demon, two movies/episodes I really love. Gotta get my hand onto this.

They've added a new vocalist since their last albums. Cons Marg, who's been playing live with them since 2016 joined them for full in 2018. Dimitris Dimitrakopoulos did te clean vocals for the first three albums, and personally I think he's way, way, way better and more interesting than Cons Marg.
The album itself tho is really good, and I really like that they've changed up a bit again. The album sounds very 80's.

Vothana released tons of demos between 03 and 08, as well as a few demos and splits, before going silent for a decade. Then he returned with this masterpiece of an album, as well as an EP and four splits in 2019, and he's continued the activity this year with a few splits, an EP and a new album released today. Looking forward to hearing as much as possible. Everything I've heard from his discography has been pure gold.
For fans of Moonblood and Mütiilation. Superb stuff!

Dear god, this has to be the funniest hip hop related thing ever. Legendary freestyle.

Not a movie, but I watched Wolf Creek season 1 and enjoyed it quite a lot. It's not quite as good as the first movie, but I'd say it's on par with the second one for sure. John Jarratt is owning the series, just like he did with the movies. Such a terrific and scary actor. Looking forward to get into the next season, and I can't wait for the third film.
Recommended if you liked the movies. Good stuff.

Joel Grind of Toxic Holocaust fame just announced a new War Ripper EP called "Strength in Numbers", the first release since War Ripper's 2007 masterpiece "Hellstorm". Looking forward to this as "Hellstorm" is among his best material to date.

Speed metal punkers in Military Shadow are about to release their first full length after an EP in 2018. This might be the cover art of the year, and it sounds truly excellent. Raw and mean, but catchy as hell. Can't wait for this to come out.

New Paysage d'Hiver is up for streaming. Sounds excellent, although I feel like this should or could have been released as two albums instead. But the music is top notch throughout. The album very much continues the cleaner sound of Das Tor, which is far from a bad thing. Still sounds like a blizzard in the form of music. Stunning stuff.

The two tracks from the new "Das Gletschertor / Das schwarze Metall-Eisen" compilation is also out, both recorded during the Schattengang back in 1998. Excellent stuff, and way grimmer than his recent material. Superb!

Hellripper FINALLY dropped a track off his highly awaited upcoming album The Affair of the Poisons, and the track RIPS. He still doesn't try to reinvent the wheel, which is totally fine because James McBain really nails this type of black speed metal. Bathory meets Exciter meets Motorhead's speeder tracks. Sounds fire!

I might have posted this before, but whatever:
Battle Dagorath - Abyss Horizons
Really looking forward to this. Paysage d'Hiver meets Darkspace meets Vinterriket. Vinterriket from Vinterriket is also a part of Battle Dagorath, and they got a black/thrash metal band together as well. Anyway, great band. This should be amazing.
Katavasia - Magnus Venator
Not sure if anyone's familiar with these guys, but this is pretty much a greek all-star band with Necroabyssious (Varathron, ex-Kawir) on vocals, Achilleas C. (Varathron, Aenaon) on guitars and bass, Astrous (Aenaon) on guitars, Foivos (Hair Spirit Noir) on drums and some other guys. Sounds very greek, but with a lot more emphasis on regular melodic black metal riffing. You'll find clear traits of Rotting Christ, Varathron, Kawir, Zemial, Agatus and so on in their music. Looking forward to this as well. Previous material is awesome!

You should be. Personally I don't think they have ever released anything bad, and as long as Trollhorn is their (main) composer I get a feeling they'll never release anything bad. He's just too good a composer.

9 hours ago, Jigsaw9 said:All these bands are just kinda generic Z-tier thrash metal I could find anywhere just by throwing a stone, but if I had to vote I'd go for ROSENFELD (only because I listened to them much more than the others).
Waitwat. You think Rosenfeld is generic? Name one album that sounds anything like Pigs of the Empire, brah. The album is like a mix of Morbid Saint, Hobbs Angel of Death, Infernäl Mäjesty, which is pretty neat as they were all incredibly unique, but with a whole different flavor to it as well which just makes the album sounds even more unique and different. If you don't count the progressive and technical thrash metal bands of the time this is easily one of the least generic thrash metal albums of the 80's and 90's.

Personally I think they did the right thing by going for a style over substance-kind of movie, which is completely driven by the visuals and soundtrack. There's a story to be found, but it's not the thing driving the movie at all. And being a massive action and horror movie fan, I'm all for style over substance anyway, so it fits me perfectly. Also, the last dance, the ballett-esque fight, was amazing. So well-made and original.
Also, I must just praise the visuals. Consider this: Avengers: Endgame cost roughly 3000(!!!) times more than this, but this looks way, way better IMO. Yeah, so Avengers: Endgame was longer and had to "spread" its visuals a lot more, but they more likely had people with better knowledge about computer imagery and so on as well. It kinda says a lot of what they archived in this movie. Awesome!

Just watched this and liked it a lot. I do understand why the reviews have been a bit up and down, but I really liked the film. Sick visuals, neat soundtrack and weirdness. Lovely!

Happy to hear you finally saw the light surrounding BMSS's new album, mate. Superb stuff!
Yes, Assassination is tearing the world of metal apart at the moment. And they seem to get better and better, which is kinda awesome even though they're already bloody amazing. Can't wait to see what the future holds for them.

17 hours ago, Jigsaw9 said:You had me at "Black Magick SS". I sampled their stuff, seems good so far! (also wow they released quite a bit already)
btw I checked the new BMSS album not long ago too, it was okay but I preferred the previous one.
I actually recommended both Assassionation and Edelweiss earlier on this side. Both well worth digging into.
I'd also recommend playing the new BMSS a lot. It's a grower for sure. Earlier releases might have bigger hits and better single songs, but as an album from A to Z I'd probably say this is their best and most consistent album. But all their releases are obviously close to perfect. Phenomenal band!
