Black Devil Doll - This is, despite premise and title, not a remake of the wild 70's low-budget feature Black Devil Doll From Hell. This is however inspired by it, but a very different movie. This is the type of exploitation movie most will hate, and the majority of those who likes it won't dare to admit it. That's the type of film this is. Tasteless as fuck, sleazy, cheap and fucking wild. 75% bad soft-core porn, 10% comedy and 15% slasher. I think this is fucking hilarious and it's just my type of film. Wild, sleazy and bad. Recommended if you're a weirdo or a sick fuck, but if you're not, just pass.

I'm always intrigued by a new Gravewurm album, but I always try to keep my expectations beneath the roof. This is one of those bands that just keeps giving, but they're more about quantity than quality. 15 albums since 2000, as well as a few EPs and tons of split albums. If they've taken about half the tracks and released half as many albums we'd have 7-8 brilliant albums, but instead we have 15 albums that's uneven as fuck. Never bad, but not always amazing either.

This album does sound very good tho. Imagine Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, Darkthrone and Nunslaughter having a baby. Pretty cool band, just too uneven.

The new Helheim album is an absolute beast og an album. Their softest and most melodic album to date, but it still sounds like Helheim through and through. For most part mid-paced black/viking metal with lots and lots of clean vocals. Simple and without big orchestrations, but still majestic and huge.

This shit is modern Viking metal at its best. Probably top 3 Helheim albums along with their two first albums.

Fighting with My Family - Drama-comedy about a wrestling family that tours England and try to make a living off it, while the entire family dreams of the daughter and one of the sons to make it into WWE. It's almost solely based off of clichés and is predictable as fuck, but it's also based on the true story of the former wrestler Paige. Of course, they've taken freedom to make it a better and more interesting film, but I don't mind that. Filled with clichés and predictable as fuck, but warm, charming and very, very witty. Very good film.

The Wandering Earth - Decent Chinese catastrophe movie that is entertaining for what it is, but it isn't good enough or over the top enough to be remembered as anything special. I wish they'd go a lot more over the top, or keep it more real. But it doesn't stand back to Hollywood productions like this or anything. And that is good to see.

The Debt Collector - Very good action-comedy with Scott Adkins and a truly excellent Louis Mandylor. This entire movie feels like a late 70's to late 80's buddy movie. Doesn't quite have the wit of movies like 48 Hours, Running Scared, Lethal Weapon, but it has really good action, which is expected by a movie with Scott Adkins. Really enjoyed it.

Enter the Dragon - Best Bruce Lee movie. It's amazing how his movies were similar in many ways, but still so very different. Just brilliant! Feels very much like a classic James Bond movie mixed with classic Bruce Lee. Hands down!

Contraband - Decent but very standard Mark Wahlberg action-crime movie. Nothing special, but fun for what it is.

I highly recommend this tribute to Celtic Frost. You have the typical covers of their classics, but there's a couple of incredibly odd choices there, that, so my big surprise, works out really well.

Acid Witch - Cherry Orchards

The horror doom death metallers Acid Witch goes on to cover one of the most hated Celtic Frost songs ever, off their ridiculed Cold Lake album, and they do it with style. Sounds amazing!

Coffin's Slave - Dance Sleazy

I don't have much info on this band other than that it features the legendary Scott Carlson of Repulsion, but it's another track off Cold Lake and it sounds really damn good. Pretty nasty-sounding, compared to the original, raw glam sound.

Temple of Void - Os Abysmi Vel Daath

Temple of Void is a death doom band in the vein of Hooded Menace and they cover a track off of the gothic avant-garde album Monotheist, and they really make a change. Removing all traces of goth and avant-garde and making it into a fullblown, nasty death doom track. Really cool!

Did you watch it on HBO, or did you download it? HBO Nordic is known for their poor quality which resulted in a lot of complaint here in Norway, but I downloaded it and had no problems whatsoever.  Used to own an HBO Nordic account, but quit it because the quality was so bad. 1080 downloads are just miles better.

And that's the general thought over here. People who streamed it legally on HBO Nordic could barely see shit, while those who downloaded the episode didn't have any issues.

New Abbath track. That's a lot better than the last one, but again there's much to be desired from the drums. He's no Horgh for sure. A bit too much "stadium rock drumming" feeling from what he's doing. It's fine to keep it simple, but at least add something more interesting to the mix. That's as standard as it gets. That's probably close to how I would programmed the drums before I got a drummer to redo everything.

Great and unique band indeed. Such a cool mix of Paul Chain (Violet Theatre), Death SS, Black Hole, The Black, Zess, Requiem, Arpia, Run After To and so on and they don't try to hide it at all. But they make it sound so unique. 

I highly recommend L'Impero delle Ombre, I Compagni di Baal and Focus Indulgens for fans of Abysmal Grief. They're obviously very inspired by the horror-doom of Abysmal Grief as well as all the bands I mentioned above.

Dreaming Purple Neon - I was really looking forward to this, but was left really disappointed, despite being somewhat entertained. My main problem is that it is just way, way to long clocking in at almost two hours. They should've cut at least 35-40 minutes and made it into a short film between 50-70 minutes. If you like cheap 70's and 80's TRASH and SLEAZE, then the last half of the movie will be very rewarding. But the first 50 minutes or so just drags and drags and drags, trying to build its characters and story. Which it didn't quite manage to do. But the last half is loads of fun with creative special effects and stuff.

But ultimately the poster is a lot better than the movie.

Since we're talking about a band with Roman Saenko, let's listen to this new Windswept album. Black metal with Roman Saenko, as well as Krechet and Vlad from Drudkh/Precambrian/ex-Blood of Kingu/ex-Old Silver Key,/ex-Pragmatik. All bands they played in with Roman Saenko. Windswept is basically a less folky and more raw Drudkh, with a more wintry atmosphere to it as opposed to the much more warmer atmosphere if Drudkh. Album sounds good too.

Yeah, I love me some Hate Forest. Criminally underrated band with the band's entire discography being really good. Purity and Sorrow's my favorite albums by the band. Never really though of Darkthrone while listening to the band, but I always got a strong Immortal-feeling from the majority of the releases, and especially Battles in the North. Kinda sounds a bit like Battles in The North mixed with several of the the BlazeBirth Hall bands like Branikald, Forest, Rundagor, Raven Dark and Vargleide.

Original Halloween is just perfect, and several of the sequels are worth seeing. The second and third ones are both really good, with the third being one of the most underrated sequels in the history of cinema. The complete change fucked that film. Had it been released under another title I'm sure it would've been regarded as a good horror movie today. Newest one was surprisingly good too.

Grindsploitation 4: Meltsploitation - It's unlike me to jump onto the fourth movie in a series of movies, but today I did. It's an anthology movie clocking it at no less than two and a half hours of trashy, poorly made horror and exploitation short movies and fake trailers. And from what IMDB are able to tell me, this is actually the 6th out of 11 Grindsploitation movies and spin-offs. Not sure if all are released or not tho. Can't find much info on it.

But this was alright tbh. It's trashy, sleazy, bad, awful, disgustingly bad, horrible and disgraceful, but I just can't hate it. It's a lot of fun for what it is. The majority of the films are cheap and bad as fuck, and they look like school projects. But I don't care. Had fun with it. Looking forward to dig deeper into the series. Recommended if you like cheap, bad, trashy and sleazy exploitation movies from the 60's and throughout the 80's.

Dear God No! - A modern exploitation movie that is nothing else than just that. An exploitation film. Tits, asses, bushes, blood and violence. It's poorly directed, although it gets better in the second half. I wish the first half was short, and the second longer because it takes an amazing turn at the end. But it's cool for what it is, and if you like cheap, trashy and poorly-made exploitation movies this one's for you.

I am however REALLY looking for the sequel. Title you ask? Frankenstein Created Bikers! FRANKENSTEIN CREATED BIKERS!!! Has to be awesome with a title like that.

Blood Punch - Cool horror-comedy with some subtle, black humor thrown in. Never HILARIOUS, but always very witty and nice. Pretty clever twist on a familiar subject.

The Devil's Rock - War-horror movie from New Zealand set to an Island where shit happens. Far from perfect, but thought it was very good. Just can't get enough of nazi-occultism. Awesome!

The Tunnel - Nice suspenseful found-footage horror movie about a bunch of reporters that goes down a tunnel. Thought this was very good. Worth checking if you're into found-footage.

Rogga Johansson - Entrance to the Otherwhere

Rogga Johansson is probably better known as the Swedish guy who is in all those bands (20 active bands atm or something), than for his music. But he's been involved in a shitload of death metal bands over the years, and if you're into old school death metal then you can't really go wrong with a lot of what he's been involved in. This project is fairly melodic too, but without losing its old school edge. New track sound good and catchy.

A new Yellow Eyes album is much welcomed over here. Extremely solid and fairly unique band, despite never really stepping into proper weird territories or anything. Sounds good!

Denial of God - The Shapeless Mass

I've never been quite sold on their two albums, but their EPs are usually top notch and really does it for me. These guys basically sound like the black metal version of Death SS. Imagine a black metal mix of Death SS, Mortuary Drape, Mercyful Fate, Abysmal Grief and King Diamond.

There's a new Vigilance album out. They started out as a mediocre Enforcer, Steelwing and Skull Fist influenced band, but changed their style towards a more first wave black metal influenced sound ala Venom, Mercyful Fate and early Running Wild  pretty fast. So blackened speed/heavy metal is a pretty accurate description of what they're nowadays.

Sounds like a pretty fun album.

The Legend of Bigfoot - 1975 pseudo-documentary that's a huge fucking train wreck from beginning to end. But I still like it. It's just so weird. It's mostly a poorly shot nature documentary with an annoying voice over throughout, but it's still fascinating. Just how bad it is. Don't know. Liked it.

Sadly we're all just basic human beings so we can't know everything. I wish I did, but I don't. Awful.

I was saying it had nothing to do with brutal death metal because brutal death metal is, like I said, something completely different. Was it death metal? Sure, and I said that. But it's not brutal death metal, because that is something entirely different. Tomatoes and apples.

It's like melodic black metal and war metal. Both are black metal, and there's no doubt about that. But they're still two very different sub-genres that has nothing to do with each other, other than the fact that they're botha type of black metal. But they don't exactly sound anything like eachother.

To be honest I'm not too familiar with Dying Fetus as I don't like the band, but I know they do have albums that lean both towards technical death metal as well as slam death metal. But as far as I know they're for most part closer to brutal death metal, with certain exceptions. But do not take my words on it. But their debut is, as far as I know, a pretty classic example on brutal death metal. But of course, you can belong to both brutal and technical death metal at the same time like Cryptosy, Nile, Suffocation. So one doesn't exclude the other. But as far as the bands we talked about goes, they're just old school-sounding with clear influence from Entombed, Autopsy, Grave, Dismember, Carnage, Unleashed, Obituary, Asphyx, Incantation, Bolt Thrower and so on. Old school death metal bands that doesn't have a single toe within the realm of brutal death metal.

Happy Death Day 2U - I really liked the first film and I thought this was just as good. I'm not gonna say more than that outside of a spoiler tag. Because you barely have to say anything to spoil hella lot here.

Good albums indeed, but this has nothing to do with brutal death metal tho. Sounds like a mix of doom influenced death metal in the vein of Autopsy and Coffins, and Swedish death metal in the vein of old Entombed, Grave and Dismember. Ossuarium also carries some Incantation influence. But I do agree with you. Good recommendation for sure!

Brutal death metal is actually a sub-genre of death metal that sounds very different from this. Classic examples are bands like Dying Fetus, Skinless, Gorgasm, Internal Bleeding and more. Personally I am not a big fan of brutal death metal with a few exceptions. But it's pretty popular actually, which is a bit of a surprise to me. But I think one of the reasons for this is the mix of fast, brutal and relentless riffing and drumming with groovy and catchy breakdowns.

Fist of Fury - Another Bruce Lee flick, and this time it's less gritty and dark, but it showcases a lot more of Bruce Lee's acting side which people seem to forget. Was a lovely actor, and this film is brilliant. Great story, fantastic action. Bruce Lee was a GOD! Will worship this man until the day I die.

The Way of the Dragon - Yes, Bruce Lee. Not quite as good as Fist of Fury or The Big Boss, but excellent nonetheless. It's always fun watching this and seeing Chuck Norris in his first ever role. Totally badass of course. Bruce Lee? GOD!

I felt like watching some horror movies with a war setting. Just felt like I had to watch a few, and sadly enough there's not nearly enough horror movies set to war or times around war.

Deathwatch - Horror film set to WWI, which is a cool setting. Pretty good on atmosphere and well-directed, but I was really put off by the ending. It's not bad, but it's not as good as it should've been either. But not bad.

Trench 11 - This was brilliant with mostly OUTSTANDING special effects and superb, claustrophobic atmosphere. Thought this was fantastic. Highly recommended!

R-Point - Took me about 5 minutes to realize I had seen this before and I'm glad I watched it again. This is a Korean slow-burner which is all about atmosphere, and what a fantastic atmosphere it creates. Amazing film!
