The Hateful Eight - What a huge disappointment. I'm not sure which one disappointed me more though, Tarantino or Morricone. When I first heard that Morricone would compose the soundtrack I was excited, then I heard that they would use mostly some left-overs of The Thing soundtrack and I was less excited, then I heard the music in the movie.... zZz.. How and where they used the music was horrible too.
Something I actually liked though were Walton Goggins and Jennifer Jason Leigh's performances. They were great. Also all the "Thing" references were a cool touch.

Best Merry song in years!

Nice list! Haven't heard all of those yet but I really enjoyed Misþyrming, Mgla, Peste Noire, Glaciation.
That pseudo-chinese but actually from Colorado or some backwoods band and Panopticon released pretty good albums too imo.

For Ghibli, Princess Mononoke.
I haven't watched any Disney animation movies in the last 10 years or more but I guess The Lion King is my favorite..

Finally something new, even if it's a live limited single.

I'm playing The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone DLC. I have almost completed the whole thing. Great DLC, great story, cool characters and contains the funniest/most entertaining quest of the whole game.

So KOHH's new album DIRT dropped on 23rd. Any thoughts yet?
I really like the first track, Be Me, especially the production. The rest is solid too, I would say this is his best album so far. Feels like his music matured a bit too if you can say so, haha. Maybe.

I don't know what to answer... I just try to find music that appeals to me regardless of genre but I have a few scenes that I prefer and sometimes I have phases when I focus to one particular scene. Sometimes I also like to explore artists that influenced my favorite artists or try online friends' recommendations. I think MH, and especially BNT is a nice way to find some new stuff, although I have not yet found that many artists I like through BNT ;_; I also use blogs, music websites, youtube, jps, google etc.

MASS OF THE FERMENTING DRUGS TRIBUTE ALBUM:
MASS OF THE COVERING DRUGS
1. delusionalism - HEAVENSTAMP
Sally Cinnamon's voice would fit to this song perfectly, she would definitely nail those high notes of the chorus.
2. ベアーズ - Té
Instrumental song with focus on the drums? (and dat bass) Yep. Nuff said.
3. 青い、濃い、橙色の日 - THE BACK HORN
Fantasizing about this makes me very excited. Yamada singing those verses with his angelic voice and then screaming his lungs out in the chorus.
4. She is inside, He is outside - 凛として時雨 (Ling Tosite Sigure)
Miyoko would handle the vocal duties while TK and Nakano rip it on guitar and drums, respectively.
5. なんなん - THE NOVEMBERS
The composition immediately reminded me of THE NOVEMBERS.
6. まで。情熱ミックス - SuiseiNoboAz
I thought of a different song for SuiseiNoboAz at first but settled with まで。情熱ミックス. Not sure how their singer would handle the vocals but this cover would be interesting to hear for sure.
8. ONEDAY - きのこ帝国 (Kinoko Teikoku)
Would be nice to hear Kinoko Teikoku do this sort of shoegaze-y song again, opposed to their recent pop-rock stuff.
8. エンドロール - ENVY
This 9+ minutes long "epic" is straight up Envy's alley with its post-rockish tendencies. They could turn this into a more aggressive number and still keep the atmosphere of the original track. Tetsu could add some of his trademark blabber too.
9. さんざめく - イツエ (Itsue)
I felt this would fit Itsue's vocalist well.
-
No preference. When I dicover a good song, I first try the release with that song on it.
But best of? Never.
-
Burning piano as an album cover? Shit's about to get dark and evil!
