Girl: OMG you're super passionate about music? Me too!! Me: Really? Awesome! What sort of stuff do you tend to like? Girl: Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeren, and Lana Del Rey! Me: ... That awkward moment where you don't know whether you should just be honest and list off the weird ass shit that you like that will probably make them run for the hills, or just be all "Oh yeah, Lana Del Rey? Awesome!"
  2. Whoa! That was actually good! Seriously, like @Original Saku said, where the heck was this stuff hiding for the last 4 or so years? EDIT: And the album itself is disappointing again. Normal service resumes.

Honestly, it's rare that anything makes me laugh anywhere near as much as this does.

No worries. I'm only slightly heartbroken.

I don't want to sound creepy or anything but if you would marry me that would be totally cool.
  6. I don't really care for this band, but damn that chick in the middle is cute

Hmm, intriguing. I wonder how different it sounds to Plastic Tree's stuff.

I like this top so here's a random photo of it + my face.

It feels like a different approach for them this time around. Usually they come up with some sort of theme ('noise' & 'beauty' for Rhapsody, 'life' for GIFT, the darker tone of zeitgeist, etc) and try to evolve their sound by exploring that theme, but here it feels like more of a celebration of everything that's already come before; everything all rolled up into a single concise package. I suppose a rather cheesy way of putting it is that rather than always looking forward to the next destination, they've taken a moment to rest and look back on the journey so far. In a way it's sort of like a best-of album with all new songs.

  11. Occasionally you find that if a profitable enterprise goes down because the parent company couldn't manage to stay afloat for whatever reason, another company swoops in to buy that particular part of the business and keeps it going. I have no idea if that's even remotely likely or even technically possible in this particular case but, eh, who knows.

We're having an impromptu mini-session right now if anyone's interested in joining?
  17. downy is just on a whole different level to pretty much everyone else these days. Their first four albums were already really solid releases and more than enough to secure their place in the history of Japanese post-rock folklore, but their two albums post-return have cemented them as one of the best of all time in my books. They're completely on their own wavelength, and no matter how many times I relisten to their stuff it always seems to throw something new at me time and time again. I don't even care to try to rank their 6th compared to the 5th (or even the rest of their discography, to be honest), they're all consistently brilliant and this one is no exception. (not entirely sure where the 88kasyo/Ling comparisons come from but oh well :P)

That track was mixed by mergrim apparently, so that probably has a lot to do with it. Should be a nice release anyway; this band tends to make for good background music.

^ I largely felt the same way, except I wasn't even familiar with a couple of the artists. Not a bad shuffle by any means though. 01. ハイスイノナサ - ある夜の呼吸 02. piana - hide and seek 03. school food punishment - turn 04. 雅-miyavi- - 君にファンキーモンキーバイヴレーション 05. DIR EN GREY - 滴る朦朧 06. Hiromi Uehara - Move 07. Spangle call Lilli line - nano 08. The Ocean - Bathyalpelagic I: Impasses 09. mouse on the keys - forgotten children 10. Purity Ring - Cartographist Ended up having a similar sort of mix myself. I really like the majority of the artists but a lot of the songs themselves were ones that I tend to pay less attention to within their respective discographies. 3 and 7 being the exceptions.
