Or maybe they spent $50+ on a CD that was given out for free at a concert with 1 song on it and, quite frankly, don't want it to be on every corner of the internet so your dying blogspot or awful tumblr gets more hits on a rinkydink visiter counter applet. And of course, they'll have to make another thread for the same thing because it wasn't ripped in lossless: I need to be able to hear the vocalist's spit hitting the microphone or music will not cure my cancer!! 
 
Of course there's elitism. The only way to get what you want out of people who don't like to share in order to feel good about themselves is to have something they want. If you want a live distributed album that was only pressed into 20 copies from someone in Japan who has it,  you're going to need some collateral. Calling them a cunt on a last.fm shoutbox isn't going to change their minds either.
 
tl;dr : people think they're holier than thou because they have certain things, but at the same time everyone else also feels super entitled to having everything and any quality as soon as they read a thread Trombe wrote saying it was maybe released maybe not who knows

Also echoing what Tokage said. The overwhelming majority of rarez really aren't good in terms of quality or even good songs. Sometimes they end up just being samples or members mumbling over an instrumental version of a song they already put out or, more often then not, they're samples of a CD that never gets released because they break up 5 minutes later. Additionally some things aren't even "rare," so much as people stopped caring about them for 5 years and all the links to it died.

Yes, he's not a very talented vocalist. But so what? You don't have to be very talented at what you do, be it singing, playing the guitar, bass, drums or whatever, as long as you're able to sound good and make good riffs/create good atmosphere, and you can do those things without being a very talented guitarist/bassist/drummer/vocalist. Being talented is so fucking overrated.

Alright, I'll admit that early Nega (around the time of Faded Film) had some pretty cool songs. But Jin has, sadly, never been a good vocalist. Sure, some people will like his style, but if you look at it skill-wise, he's actually pretty damn bad - this is a fact, not an opinion.
And instrumentally Nega didn't have that much too offer either. Like I said they had a few cool songs, but nothing out of the ordinary and most of their stuff was just bland (to me, at least).
 
 
Anyway, I guess I'll check out this band just for old time's sake, but I'm not expecting much tbh.

Some good picks on there like shadan, volcano and patchwork. I hope it's not a live best-of though. Would really like good version of volcano (hoping the best-of is remastered anyway).

If he gets some good instrumentalists around him this time, at least it'll be a good band with a bad vocalist. That's a step up from Nega.

For me that would be An Cafe's Magnya Carta .... I seriously for the love of god have no idea why I bought this album.

While I had originally started university with a major in Cock Forensics, I decided that the field was way too saturated with outsourced jobs so I switched out.

This subject deserved its own thread. We've been trying to discuss this on too many different places.
 
Here I thought we could try to understand the whole history behind visual kei(and along with it, japan's 80s and 90s rock and pop come along, I guess). For years we've had really bad wiki texts trying to write about visual kei and failing along with it. To abridge the entire scope of the visual kei scene to only "a bunch of guys influenced by glam metal" like every copy-pasted lastfm biography says means next to nothing. Here we had for the late 80s and 90s bands playing speed metal, gothic rock and new wave and they were all part of the same scene. Some bands mixed these genres, others played only one of these, and there were even bands that introduced other stuff in the mix - but all of them using the strong visual element as the way to hit their message. As much as I tried to find, it's hard to see a scene as convoluted and intriguing anywhere else in the world.
 
My idea is to mostly focus on late 70's, 80's and 90's japanese music and the western influences, trying to guess how it became what it was and what it is today. Maybe to try to answer a question that never really goes away on japanese music boards: A scene or a genre?

You want to know what the real issue is? Too many people care too much about what other people think about their opinions. This mix of neediness and constant validation that manifests on last.fm and other social media is sickening and it's a negative reinforcement feedback cycle. People don't feel like what they say holds salt unless someone backs them up, so they don't speak their mind. Since they parrot someone else's opinion, they never share their own because no one backs them up on it. I can't count how many times I personally have walked into a conversation, shared my opinion which was the opposite of the general consensus, and watched as it quickly became the popular consensus because so many other people felt the same way but everyone was too afraid to say something.
 
What does this have to do with liking/disliking a band based on its fans? EVERYTHING! So many times I hear people say that they don't like MEJIBRAY or the GazettE or Dir en grey because of how the fans act, but they've not listened to the band enough to form a coherent argument of their own beyond that. It's almost universally covering for some other reason that said person doesn't want to divulge, which is (usually) that they don't want to be judged for liking or disliking something so many other "stupid" people like.

Guess what? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. Like what you like. Dislike what you dislike. Your preferences have no bearing on how valid your argument or opinion is. That speaks for itself.
