For users that cannot subscribe or donate, you can still use the site as a guest or with a restricted account.
Non-subscriber accounts can still DJ and use the site normally, but can only access 1 playlist and be the host of 1 community. Once Silver subscriptions are turned on today, whatever your current active playlist is, that will be your 1 playlist. You will be able to access the rest of your playlists once you become a Silver or Gold subscriber. Your old playlists will not be deleted should you decide to subscribe at a later date. (Note: Existing users that have more than 1 community will remain Hosts of their communities but cannot add new staff; only new users will be limited to host 1 community as a non-subscriber.)
For donators, both new and old, every dollar donated grants you one month of plug.dj Silver time to your account (e.g. if you donate $12 you’ll have 12 months of Silver subscription status added to your account).
We know this is a big change for everyone, but the alternative is that plug.dj will shut down,which nobody wants.
It’s super important we reach our funding goal so that we can continue to run plug.dj and build new features we’ve been dying to work on. Our goal is to get as close to 30% as we can by September 28th. Please help keep our community going by donating and getting a Silver or Gold subscription today!

You can use this site to automate exporting playlists: http://pye.sq10.net/ it takes a while depending on how many playlists you have. I'm honestly not really surprised this is happening, just like Turntable nobody from Plug knew how to run a business. Even on their deathbed they're continuing to talk about ideas to put more features behind paywalls, sigh.

establishing a subscription model was not a bad idea. it's just that they ran out of their funding from investors and clearly aren't making enough revenue from the site to keep it running.

if there is an artist that shares names i usually separate them by adding a characteristic, e.g.: Dev (Male) & Dev (Female).
i usually have to retag everything i download/buy/rip anyway, so changing the file names is just 1 extra step in mp3tag.

You don't even HAVE to play anything but I guess that's not in the line of thought of most folks here because when someone leaves they always do right after their own choice of song and it's not even coincidence or funny anymore it's just the egoistic nature of the human being maybe but does that never bother the person like don't you have a sense of guilt when you are that self absorbed that you must play your song and then leave the room I don't know man that just seems very whatever anyway but I'm glad that the cute theme has been wiped off of the table because I expected nothing less than your false sense of japanesed kawainess that has already poisoned the minds of a lot of you and there would only be sugarysweetj-lolitas who wished they were in a manga or anime or some shit and genuine cute would not have had a chance against the fake and forced hello kitty culture

Also, I wanted to bump some suggestions already mentioned by our one and only @chewi:
Experimental and shoegaze. Totally on board for both of these. There was another one but my mind's gone blank after trying to remember two out of the three. ^^;;
i was joking around when i suggested that lol. i said something like "experimental, avant-garde, and weird music" idk and i think that shoegaze would fit fine into that
