In the beginning of UnsraW's career, vocalist Yuuki wore a patch often.

They spend more time recording covers and snubbing Hiroto than they do promoting and writing their own music.

TIL Inception of Genocide disbanded back in 2018 ... no wonder they haven't released anything lately. Shinya slays and I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure he played drums for Nocturnal Bloodlust before they went visual as a session drummer.

So the vocalist can actually sing ... and TP (the dude on the left who looks like that guy from Watch Dogs) apparently ghost-writes music for Unite and HOWL and used to go by 太志 (Taishi).

The dude on the left took PPE to the next level ... and then forgot how to tie his shoes.

I just completed the Pokedex in Pokemon Shield!! 109 hours and 26 minutes and my first Pokedex completion since Yellow.

I started watching Barry on the recommendation of my roommate. Starring Bill Hader, the narrative follows Barry, an assassin that decides to take up acting when he finds one of his hits is taking an acting class taught by Henry Winkler. The premise is ridiculous, but it works and is far more real than it is funny. The acting is on-point and the show legitimately made me laugh, cry, and wince in fear. There's a lot to be said about PTSD from war veterans as well as some of the unethical methods in acting. Tons of trigger warnings, though. Still, I highly recommend it and I've only just finished the first season.

I do belive @platy was working on it?

And probably wouldn't have even been included at all when the DVD inevitably went up for purchase on their store.

"ex.KYOKUTOU GIRL FRIEND ロフトはJAPANESE ROCKの中心だからね、ど真ん中だよ。 この国に生まれてバンドマンを志したなら、目指すべきステージなんだよ。頑張って辿り着くべきステージだよ。 これからも、ずっと未来も、 ロックを志す少年少女たちが目指す、憧れの市松模様が新宿にあり続けますように。 <林田倫堕、ケッチ、サリー、亜門>" He pretty much said that Loft was the place that aspiring bandmen hoped to play and hoped that in the future as they were the center of Japanese rock and that he hoped Shinjuku would desire for the checkered pattern [their stage floor].
-
And I would say they had little input, if any at all, on the song-writing. Most of the album had been released before on Kaika and an omnibus, as well as been played live for a while before Kaika or Oni, and even the new songs are credited to Keisuke for writing the music and lyrics. The rest are all Keisuke and Seiya, even though he wasn't in the band at the time of Oni's release. If we're going by credits alone, the only other person credited Oni is actually Ryo (from Gilgamesh) who composed all the instrumental tracks.
-
Can confirm. They're one of the best live bands I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. RIcko is always on key, they have such good chemistry with each other and their energy is always on point.

Crystal Lake have announced a single with two new tracks. Physical versions in Japan will also feature a DVD with live footage from their set at Resurrection Fest in Spain last year. The single is set to release digitally world-wide and in-stores domestically on July 8th.

I'm torn on Ghost of Tsushima. It looks like samurai Assassin's Creed and while that is a great idea, I can't help but feel like this is cultural appropriation ...
-
Just because it's a Sony first-party game doesn't mean it's Japanese. It's developed by Sucker Punch, a studio from Seattle. Their latest State of Play states lots about how it's inherently and clearly an American production heavily influenced by old films by Kurosawa and the like. I think it looks great and I'm very excited for it. The cultural appropriation comment was a thought and it is, by definition, borderline appropriation.
-
I'd agree if it weren't for the fact that Sucker Punch aren't going to be getting anywhere near what the publisher is, they're a developer underneath the Playstation brand, if it were the other way around then yes that's definitely cultural appropriation. That being said the black and white filter and Japanese subs shows that this is more or less a love story and homage to the works of Kurosawa and others.
-
Alright, I can see that. It's a love letter rather than the content being taken out of context.

Their reasoning being a difference in goals and personalities within the band. They also announced they will release a best-of album in the future, but no details as of right now. Member comments can be found here, on their home page.

Damn. That would be a dark stunt. I was never a fan of the band to begin with, but parody as a genre is such a time-sensitive thing, so I was just figuring that the other members realized they couldn't go anywhere as a parody band and decided to bow out while there was a lock down. I mean, even jealkb went straight, and most of Kaitou Sentai's biggest "hits" were parodying bands that disbanded already. I honestly (sorry for all their fans) just would hope they grew up.
-
Masato is blaming this on COVID-19 ... stating he couldn't talk to the group due to social distancing. I'm sorry ... but I find this whole situation humorous.
-
As reported on their twitter, Gt. Jishuban CluPTON, Gt. JEWELRY BRAND X, and Ba. Kinoko CHILD will leave the band after their live on 8/27 at TSUTAYA O-WEST due to differences in direction. Vocalist Little Hearts Masato will continue the band on his own as a solo project.
-
I don't know if I agree with this statement. The "near-silent" breakdown has existed for a while and most recently dexcore. has done it in a couple songs, especially in their latest single, Dragout.
-
I wholeheartedly agree. Every song pretty much sounds the same.
-
Then I'll go with EN2 because I feel those are definitely the better song choices in the long run. Thanks!
-
Same, but I figured I would get the one you didn't want and then we could share! 🤫
-
@Komorebi - Are you getting both versions? I don't have a need for two of the same DVD, but I'll get which ever one you don't. Someone I know is willing to pre-order one for me, too, so if you don't want to get the second one, I'll get that one.
