That felt like watching a no-name visual kei band rehearsal session, which would be a pretty apt description of this band. The abysmal production and the delicious inserts of autotune are just bonuses.

Excited! Their last two albums really pleased me!

Hiya hiya hiya!
From lurking and peeking around some of the threads, I've seen/heard that there are a lot of people here with some very good opinions and insight on the whole "JRock-inspired / Visual Kei-inspired" thing. It's an eternal balancing act for those of us who choose to pursue this kind of music outside of Japan, I think.
 
ANYWAY, that said, this is a 1:40 preview of my band's first single "Set Me Free" (the full song goes live on the 20th).  Would love to hear what y'all think of it.  As a band we really love Janne da Arc, Acid Black Cherry, Dir en grey, and a bunchaothers and stuff  ^u^

sounds weird to me. can't even tell if I liked it or not.
reminds me of an early DIR EN GREY. especially Aoi Tsuki: Blue & Die, Blue & Die..

"Back to basics". That definition was spot on. This is exactly what I'd expect the love-child of NIL and SR to be. Usually their music is nothing what they say it's gonna be, but for the first time ever, they gave us what they promised.
 
I do agree with people that they've forgotten how to make memorable melodies. The whole album was very well done and sounds like they really put some effort in there, but "The Hook" is missing. That said, I do like this album. Much better than Division. I honestly don't remember a single song from that and have found zero reasons to go back at it, despite listening to it several times. Can't say it's better than Toxic because this is so different. Toxic had amazing single-songs, but everything around them pretty much sucked. This one lacks any of those supersongs like Pledge and Vortex, but there's not a single song here that I would call shit, except for maybe Fadeless.
 
I can't pick any favorites, it's all quite decent. Redo is something they haven't done since SR and I've really missed that since I really like those chilly rock-songs. I'm sure that was composed by Kai. Though I hated how Loss almost had an awesome solo, but then it just ended! Fuck you guys. And I have to agree with most people here; Coda is the best tune of the album. It sounded like some intro of a folk metal song, with gaze-style. They could've done some great things with that, but then again, atleast they didn't screw it up.
 
Someone said that they'd like Gazette more with a different vocalist. I think that sums up pretty well the case of Gazette. Imagine if this album was made by some american newcomer-band with a great vocalist as their first album. I'm pretty sure they'd be fucking praised. But this is the Gazette, this is the VK-scene, they've been around for a decade and released way too many songs in their career that it all just blends together to some weird deformity where only a few gems stand out. But I guess it's still quite a beautiful deformity. (SEE WHAT I DID THAR)
 
I'd give this a solid 3/5

I was hoping that they would finally come up with something that's at least 20% the quality of their first 3 or 4 singles - then I saw that this too is slated to be an anime opening, lol.

Well, first of all, MH is really the only online music-related online community I frequent, so I can really only base my experiences on this.
 
So, do they complain more than they actually talk? As a whole, I don't think so. But I guess the complaing is more obvious? And, in individual cases it's certainly true.  In general, there's nothing wrong with disliking a band, being critical of a band, or even poking fun at something really bad - in good doses. But once you are more concerend with bands you hate than with bands you like - you should seriously reconsider your priorities.
 
 
Well, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they actually don't like the music. But they probably wouldn't express their dislike so much if it wasn't a popular band. Some people also might not give them a proper chance because they're famous.
 
 
Different standpoints/opinions are good. Without them discussions wouldn't happen. Outright negativity and hate is not good. It doesn't make for good or interesting discussions.

I felt this sort of thread was relevant, because I've seen a lot of this in (especially) VK communities, both on this website as on other websites like tumblr, twitter, etc.
 
And as a side-question, do you think certain bands have a large anti-following because they're popular, rather than because their anti-following doesn't like their music? Lastly, without all of the negativity, do you think Japanese rock / VK discussions would still happen / be as interesting to engage in?

Turning major killed them. They need to reform with the original members and bring out another album like Virgin Snow Colour. That album was perfect.

there aren't enough words to describe how much I love Hiro's clean vocals and how he sings the lyrics in the sense of tempo and variation.

Hey Yall!  It's been a while.

We had a kinda crazy, but fun summer.  Unfortunately our rhythm guitarist Sai, had to leave the band mid summer.  We're still all on great terms.

Last week, we officially inducted our newest rhythm guitarist, Topeng.
We're working hard to record the first Official album of Sol Ardour.  Thanks you to anyone who still checks this thread out!
