    Surprised there are so many old school fans here. I also prefer things like, Lareine, Mirage, Earl Grey, Rouage, Syndrome, Deshabillz, Madeth Gray'll, and so many others.

    Honestly i love when Japanese bands sing in English some because it makes me not seem as bad when covering songs for fun haha.

    Also i agree with mostly everything being said here. One thing to note however is that i listen almost exclusively to Japanese music and i can't help that.

     

    I always try to add my own unique flare to things and add in other influences but fact still remains that I'm HEAVILY influenced by japanese artist's and i can't change that its who i am! i may appear as a weeaboo to some for that i don't know but this is my soul, my heart, everything! So truth is i don't care about all of that too much because I'll always just do what i feel as right anyway.   :lolita_cheerful:

    well i think you guys are too quick to nitpick western artist's and a little biased towards japanese artist's that's fine i guess i am a bit too but most of these minor details you point out would be fine for a Japanese band. I don't see what's so wrong for western artist's taking influence from Japanese artist's even if they seem mostly bad to you. Anyway I'm not saying this compilation will be the epitome of musical talent or that it will be flawless I'm just saying it may turn out nice.

     

    I've received a lot of shit for even attempting a visual inspired project and so much so that I've wanted to just quit and delete my identify on the internet forever (or attempt to). 

     

    Anyway i'm aware of what is being said about all of us and i'm good friends with jet set gypsies but i value all your feedback negative or not like i said.

     

    Anyway i put it in this thread because i thought it would be interesting and i want to hear what you all think in the end :)

    I'll leave this here for you guys to critic as harshly as you like but i think some of the artist's here will start to change the notion of western + visual kei/japan = disaster/weeaboo. 

     

    I'll have two different projects on this compilation and i'll look forward to all your feedback whether positive or not.

     

    There are some unconfirmed Japanese artist's taking part as well apparently so it should be interesting nonetheless to see how it all turns out.

    Just a well meant advice: don't force yourselves too much on writing japanese lyrics. Being able to sing it is fine when you cover original songs from that time that are japanese, but I think that anything else (such as self composed somgs) will fail for a few reasons. First, most people who are in vk bands can't properly speak japanese. Second: it will make you look like weaboos who are trying too hard.

    And a personal reason: I would like to see a foreign visual kei band who can add something of their own culture to the whole thing, both visually and musically. I feel that there's a lot of potential here and it isn't as appropriative and potentially embarrassing as people trying to appear asian. Show us that also non japanese people can rock it!

    I am pretty sure you can translate the old school style and vibe into English for example.

    Well... I wish you good luck though on finding band members. I'd would join a kote kei  band anytime, but I can't play a guitar and even I'd do I would be terribad.

     

    I agree with you wholeheartedly, actually we have a project already and are working on our first single. It's going very well and i think you'd be impressed! Also we've discussed this and agreed if we do decide to add Japanese of any kind it will be limited to small phrases and words but i don't see us singing in Japanese at all or being weeboo's honestly.

     

    Anyway I'll update this thread with any news and a free download link when we're ready to reveal.

    I don't want to discuss the sense or nonsense of cosplaying bands here, but I made my first visual kei cosplay about 8 years ago and still enjoy it. It's a fun hobby, especially if you have a group. (btw! Since Ikna mentioned Austrias cosplay scene: half of my dir en grey group is actually from Austria and they are awesome. So naturally I thought things would be much better there... turns out I'm wrong. depressing.)

    Maybe somebody likes to look at some of my costumes. They are far from perfect, but made with lots of love.

    this is my bread and butter dude and i sing and i have other old school influenced musicians and artists together already but i cant truly sing in Japanese but my voice is heavily influenced on this type of music.

    I don't know exactly the sound or instruments that would be used i guess we'll just see how it comes together but I've got a pretty strong foundation already but i'd like to be in contact with other musicians.
